I am very organised but also very poor Grin and I have a dilemma...

We have had a completely shit six months employment/finances wise (like lots of us I know) topped off by last week - a succession of horrifically timed events like self isolation, a broken washing machine and a bank fuck up. Etc. It goes on and on.

Because I am poor yet organised I have been (thank god) getting a little amount of stuff organised each week for Christmas. We've already gone through the money I've put away. I am eyeing up my stocking drawer (which is just teeny things really, like a shower gel each for the DC, extra long charger cables, that sort of stuff). BUT I have two scratchcards in there, one for DH's and one for DS's (over 18) stockings.

WIBU to do the scratchcards in case they are winning ones? Even £10 would help at the moment, to be honest!

PS I have already gone through the time honoured MN recommendations of checking loyalty cards, eBaying everything not nailed down, I am looking for work, DH has a job 4.45 - 7am and another 8am - 4.30pm. I can't take in ironing. There is nothing down the back of the sofa. We have cut all our bills down as low as possible. We have literally done everything we can already, so I don't need suggestions just scratchcard advice Smile

PPS this is NOT a fucking begging thread - it's meant to be a bit lighthearted in that laugh or you'll cry way, so please don't anyone be a dick Grin I don't have twins and there is money on my electric meter Wink

@Fwaltz

Don’t scratch them, just take them to the shop and ask the assistant to scan them to see if they’re winners. If yes, cash in. If not, take them home and gift them anyway 😂
You need the 4 digit code which you scratch off. This was changed some time ago. Someone I know was caught doing this where she worked and stealing the winners Confused
ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 28/10/2020 18:01

I was going to say, there would be kind of an obvious flaw in that system...

Right, I am going to scratch the winning symbol to see what we need to match. (I think that's the right way to do it!)

The winning symbol is.....

A moneybag (is that a good sign? Grin)

I wouldn't. I think it will just make you feel shit about yourself.

Have you contacted your local hospital or residential homes? They always need staff even if it's just bank staff.

TokyoSushi · 28/10/2020 18:12

Back on the edge of my seat! Need to cook dinner!

ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 28/10/2020 18:17

Felicis RTFT!!

Funnily enough DH did three care shifts for our local (very expensive and private) care home, and they haven't paid him yet and he is still chasing them Hmm Even all the care and cleaning jobs round here (usually not that many applicants) are being fought over...

Anyway back to more fun thoughts...

It's a chest! But it doesn't match my moneybag Sad

Next one coming up...

@Scootergrrrl

You could do it altruistically - no one wants a losing scratch card on Christmas morning and imagine the disappointment if one's a winner and one is not. You are doing it to SAVE CHRISTMAS.
Bloody perfect x
ToScratchOrNotToScratch · 28/10/2020 18:29

I'm also altruistically thinking of course that when I win the £100,000 I can put a cheque for thousands in their stockings which will be nice Grin

Anyway I shall do the next one...

(Even if I win another pound I will "cash out" and put it in the piggy bank and not buy another as this wouldn't be as much fun if I kept doing it Smile)

Reckon the next one will be one of those plastic little bags that you weigh change in. Not sure how many more money receptacles there can be.

What is/was the next symbol? I need to know! Grin
I live in a country where scratch cards don't exist Sad

We once bought the nursery our now 14 year old DS went to a lucky dip as a Christmas present...and then bought another ticket with the same numbers.

We both won £75! No way we could have afforded to give that as a gift to the nursery. They used it to go away for the weekend.

bitheby · 28/10/2020 18:56

Does it open your vault or your chest?

Nostalgia1990 · 28/10/2020 18:57

For fucks sake, late to the party but THIS IS AMAZING and you deserve all the luck in the world OP! Glued to my seat...

CatAndHisKit · 28/10/2020 18:59

are they those pound ones, or a fiver each (with seriious prizes)?

CatAndHisKit · 28/10/2020 19:01

ah just saw the picture - aer they both the same?

bitheby · 28/10/2020 19:02

I can't believe how retro the graphics are. They look as if they get printed off an old computer from the 80s.

MadeForThis · 28/10/2020 19:10

I love scratch cards as presents. But I've never won 😢
