2021 will suck as much as 2020

All the 2020 sucks, this year needs to get done, being on Christmas so we can move onto next year.

But I don't think 2021 is going to be better?

We'll start it with tons of areas under Tier 3 restrictions having had a very quiet NYE.

if it hasn't come by then, England will still be anticipating a fire break, and the rest of the UK will be wondering if they'll have another one.

The economy will be shit, and everyone will be even more poor then usual by trying to compensate for everything with Christmas excess

New Year sale shopping will be torturous with SD

As we come round to the Anniversary of the first lockdown, still with lots of people dying from this and from the impact of this.

Then it'll be another Easter of linked holiday options given quarantine restrictions, then all the exam worry and that stands then all the mess over start of university/schools and that listing up the cases and then back into flu season and dark nights

I just think it's better to be realistic that 2021 will be crap too rather then thinking the midnight bells will herald some sort of pandemic salvation

Yup.
Low expectations is the way forward.
Hopefully things will get better at some point next year.

Cocomarine · 26/10/2020 19:01

Well, it’s what you make it.
I’ve lost a family member to Covid, I’m in Tier 3, I’ve cancelled holidays, dealt with children missing school...
There’s still been fab stuff 🤷🏻‍♀️

Connelloni · 26/10/2020 19:01

You could try to look at some positives instead.

2021 is likely to bring a vaccine

Even without a vaccine numbers were pretty low this summer, with some population immunity they should be even better in 2021

We are much better equipped to treat people who are seriously ill now so we shouldn’t see the same spikes in deaths

We will be much closer to the end of the pandemic than we are right now

TheLastStarfighter · 26/10/2020 19:05

I think it will be better than 2020, but nit “the best year ever”. Net year won’t magically make things better, but I think thing will steadily improve throughout the year, and it’s always easiest when things are improving because you can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Racoonworld · 26/10/2020 19:06

I’m thinking that it should be at least a little bit better than 2020. There should be a vaccine and things will likely be getting back to normal.

ComDummings · 26/10/2020 19:06

It’ll be worse

mum2jakie · 26/10/2020 19:07

Nah, you're right. It's going to be another bloody shit dull-as-fuck year with the threat of redundancy, infection, arrest or death hanging over us. Oh, and Brexit...

cakewench · 26/10/2020 19:08

Of course. Add a no deal Brexit and it's going to be awful.

However, I'm not sure what the point is in dwelling on it? Let people joke about how shit 2020 is. We're all just coping.

PicsInRed · 26/10/2020 19:08

This thread is absolutely roaring with the Bulldog

gamerchick · 26/10/2020 19:08

You've forgot about brexit. That'll be fun as well on top.

lilfoxfur · 26/10/2020 19:09

Yep.

2021 will be like 2020's evil twin.

Buckle up I think 🤔

bellinisurge · 26/10/2020 19:09

Post transition Brexit will be the piss icing on a shit cake

Brighterthansunflowers · 26/10/2020 19:11

YANBU

as much as we all want 2020 to be over, things won’t get better in the new year. Covid will most likely be peaking again in January (especially a couple of weeks after Christmas). Brexit shit will be hitting the fan.

I’ll be made redundant in 2021, so not looking bright for me personally either

PicsInRed · 26/10/2020 19:11

Murder Hornets? I read they're 5cm long. Just a little something to look forward to.

Will it end or we just accept it kills lots of people much like we accept flu does?

2021 is post Brexit transition. It's going to teach us what "hard times" means all over again. But even then I'm sure we will still have the usual suspects telling us to 'think positive!' and the other usual suspects reminding us that this is nothing compared to ww2.

SleepingStandingUp · 26/10/2020 19:13

Oh god yes Brexit and President Trump feeling untouchable

OP posts:
GameSetMatch · 26/10/2020 19:13

You forgot about Brexit just to cheer us all up a bit more 😁

Connelloni · 26/10/2020 19:16

Yeah, probably. But how much did you worry about dying from flu before all this?

You can either think about how awful it’s going to be forever or you can try to focus on brighter things. I honestly don’t know how people live day to day only thinking about how miserable things will be. Life is too short.

Tfoot75 · 26/10/2020 19:16

If you're still feeling really down about it all it's probably time to start feeling more positive. I'm really looking forward to a quiet Christmas, January is always grim as fuck but the silver lining for us is that we'll save loads by not doing anything. Pandemic or no, spring will come around quickly and will bring a lot of hope, vaccine or not. At least if this is still going on next winter we will know what to expect.

By the way, it's too late for a firebreak, and would definitely be too late in January - by then it'd be an actual lockdown if its necessary!

RelaisBlu · 26/10/2020 19:33

As someone famously said: when you're going through hell, keep going.
Every day takes us nearer the end, whenever that may be

nosswith · 26/10/2020 19:45

It won't be lovely but we know it won't be lovely.

There will not be people booking holidays and having them cancelled or having to book a flight back at less than two days notice.
No-one will wait several months for a refund from Ryanair, because they won't book with them unless they are certain they can go.
No-one will expect sense from this government, because they know that they are worse than incompetent.

There may be a vaccine at some point in 2021, but I don't think anyone is holding their breath expecting it to have been rolled out far enough next year to return things to the way they were pre-March.

Mammylamb · 26/10/2020 19:48

If you liked 2020, you’ll love 2021

Christmasfairy2020 · 26/10/2020 20:06

Hopefully We get a summer this year and can go on holiday!

Christmasfairy2020 · 26/10/2020 20:06

Jan will be terrible when the students go back to uni
