Half term for us this week am on the Wirral. I had some plans for me and DC 5 & 3 we have got some great parks locally and the beach literally on my door step so was going to picnic days and just generally be out and about! ........

Well it is pissing down all week!!! Again we have some great indoor stuff for rainy days but it’s all shut!!! Due to being in Tier 3 Lockdown. Am sick of being stuck in with them so are they to be fair.......there is only so much baking, Lego and crafts we can do

I am preparing to be flamed for being a bit of a brat but am just so fed up of being stuck in!!

YANBU, it sounds tough. Can you watch for a gap in the weather? I use the Rain Alerts app, it shows an animation of the actual bands of rain coming across for the next three hours, so you can decide when to pop out.

BuffaloCauliflower · 26/10/2020 07:58

I’m so sorry, that must be really hard and you’re well within your rights to be feeling pissed off. It is shit.

Karwomannghia · 26/10/2020 08:00

I’m in tier 3 but we’re going swimming today, there’s a lot more open than in lockdown, you just can’t mix. Museums are open too here.

movingonup20 · 26/10/2020 08:02

Yabu, Leicester has been in lockdown since March, they never came fully out including the whole summer hols plus they had half term last week and nobody suggest the kids there got free school meals, yet again forgotten. It's a pandemic, yet people still are being caught having house parties and refusing to wear masks in shops

x2boys · 26/10/2020 08:03

Yeah it's shit ,I'm in Bolton also in tier three and the weather's crap but what else can we do ?

PumpkinPie2016 · 26/10/2020 08:03

YANBU OP. Our area went into tier 3 end of last week. Thankfully, we managed to set off on our holiday before the restrictions started but the place we have come to is rainy as well and I have woken up with a hideously sore throat and ear this morning Halloween Angry so, not sure if we will get out on the planned afternoon walk today.

It's hard when kids are so young because they are limited in terms of being able to entertain themselves.

Can you don wellies and waterproofs and brave the rain? Then a nice, warm bath for the kids to play in when you get back?

Tunnocks34 · 26/10/2020 08:03

I know. In Manchester and also tier three. Were putting raincoats and wellies on and we’re going on a bear hunt in the rain this morning.

They love jumping in muddy puddles anyway and I’m honestly going insane stuck in the house.

IPeedInThePool · 26/10/2020 08:09

I think we will do wellies and rain suits tomorrow today it’s horribly cold too am going to brave some baking for snacks for the week ahead. Look at baker ross to see if there’s anything that takes our fancy. 😒

I will look into the rain app too!

It’s disappointing that you’re not having the break you want but you may find you are still able to do many of the outdoor thing you planned anyway. Even if the forecast is some rain most days, there are bound to be some drier spells. I have very been pleasantly surprised when I thought I would have to cancel outdoor things. Just take raincoats and wellies to be on the safe side.

Derelictwreck · 26/10/2020 08:15

We're in tier three but it makes no difference to children's/family activities than tier two? It's just bars etc which are shut and we can still meet others outside same as tier two!

Lockdownfatigue · 26/10/2020 08:15

You could be in Wales in total lockdown and not even allowed to buy a few craft bits for your kids from the supermarket!

I’m not finding it that bad though. Wellies and waterproofs on for a walk, family films, crafts, baking. It’s quite nice to be able to chill when life is so busy when they’re in school.

However Yanbu not to feel the same as me!

ChristmasinJune · 26/10/2020 08:20

We're in Liverpool and I'm finding there's plenty open that we can do (although it does get expensive) museums are mostly open I think, cinemas and swimming pools are back open and we've booked for a board game cafe for later in the week.

Would a couple of trips like this be an option?

Liquorishlucy · 26/10/2020 08:24

@x2boys I'm in bolton too, yesterday was lovely but today awful...

HaplessHousewife · 26/10/2020 08:26

We're only Tier 2 but DS got sent home from school on Friday as there was a confirmed case in his class so he's having to isolate and can't even do outdoor things. We're staying in with him a) just in case and b) seems mean not to!

Sodamncold · 26/10/2020 08:27

Feeling very lucky here in SE

My children are currently in sports camp!

IPeedInThePool · 26/10/2020 08:29

I didn’t know the museums were still open that’s a good option. Swimming is tricky with the ages I need 2 adults and DH is in work.

Going to do some research on what’s actually on this week and do a plan around that.

In tier 2 here. Mine are older (teens) so don't want to jump in puddles etc. They want to meet their mates, so cinema, swimming etc no good if they can't mix.

They will just be walking around the park in the rain. It is shit because normally they'd have friends over or go swimming/cinema/McDonald's.

Mushymushi · 26/10/2020 08:31

Also tier 3. Also raining. And DD is self isolating due to a child at her school having Covid.

It’s basically a complete lockdown for us.

Frazzled2207 · 26/10/2020 08:33

GM here- yes is shit.
BUT it was nice yesterday so we managed a nice walk.
We are thinking of cinema and bowling later in the week. Spare a thought for people in wales. They can’t do any or those.

Mellonsprite · 26/10/2020 08:33

Liquorishlucy & @x2boys yep I'm in bolton too, weather is awful all week doesn’t look like parks or outside visits will be on the cards all week due to rain - it’s shite Haloween Sad

Orcus · 26/10/2020 08:34

Why does the Leicester situation make someone who's fed up in Tier 3, under currently higher restrictions, unreasonable? There's no nexus between the two.

YANBU OP. It's shit, not made any better by it being a sop that won't work.

Doilooklikeatourist · 26/10/2020 08:34

We're in Wales , and it's awful
I don't even have school age DC any more , all adults here
We can't even buy a novel , let alone drive to the coast ( about 10 miles away ) if it ever stops raining

Redwinestillfine · 26/10/2020 08:34

Teir 3 too here but with the added excitement of having to isolate Haloween Sad it's rubbish isn't it?

BrieAndChilli · 26/10/2020 08:35

Another in wales here. Not even allowed to drive anywhere unless essential so can’t even drive kids to normal places we go for walks. DS1 can’t even leave the house as someone in his year has covid so whole year has to self isolate, that’s after we as a family self isolated last week as DD had a cough but test came back negative.

Orcus · 26/10/2020 08:39

My brother in Wales has been on a couple of moonlit walks with the kids but I'm not sure if that's actually legal or if he just got lucky.
