Half term for us this week am on the Wirral. I had some plans for me and DC 5 & 3 we have got some great parks locally and the beach literally on my door step so was going to picnic days and just generally be out and about! ........

Well it is pissing down all week!!! Again we have some great indoor stuff for rainy days but it’s all shut!!! Due to being in Tier 3 Lockdown. Am sick of being stuck in with them so are they to be fair.......there is only so much baking, Lego and crafts we can do

I am preparing to be flamed for being a bit of a brat but am just so fed up of being stuck in!!

Same here op. We are going the park tomorrow to get pine cones to dry out then we can glitter them ready for Xmas.

Greysofa · 26/10/2020 18:05

In full lockdown in Wales here and it’s really not good for the kids. We should have been abroad but it was cancelled so booked a city break in the UK with a theme park thrown in, only for that to be cancelled by lockdown. Tier 3 restrictions would be welcome at the moment!

1FootInTheRave · 26/10/2020 18:14

It all feels very very bleak at the mo.

Spring and summer was more tolerable due to the weather.

Witchcraftandhokum · 26/10/2020 18:19

I feel your pain, I'm school staff I was really looking forward to some long relaxing dog walks over half-term but now I have to Self-isolate due to contact with a student who has tested positive. I can't even leave the bloody house!

Am dreading this happening at Christmas. My school has 5 staff of isolating after positive cases in their class. And then 7 of us have children off isolating with cases in theirs. So that’s virtually every member of staff affected over this half term.
Going to be really hard doing this over Christmas Sad

Witchcraftandhokum · 26/10/2020 18:32

Oh crap Starrynight I hadn't even thought about it happening at Christmas.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 26/10/2020 18:34

Probably worse to be in Wales and have Tesco tell you that period products are non-essential?

IPeedInThePool · 26/10/2020 19:18

NOOOO surely Tesco haven’t gone that far?

@Sodamncold

Feeling very lucky here in SE

My children are currently in sports camp!

I’m in tier 3 and my kids were at tennis camp last Friday too, and DD will be at dance lessons on Saturday, there’s no impact on kids sports or holiday clubs. We have done pumpkin carving and baking today, then went to cinema. Went walking over the weekend with grandparents. Tomorrow meeting a friend and their DC at a national trust place. There isn’t really anything closed that impacts kids. Guess it depends how much you have going on in your area though as not supposed to leave the area.

And really feel for people in Wales

PepsiLola · 26/10/2020 20:51

I'm also in the Wirral with a 4 and 7yo. It was actually the eldest bday last week and we had a nightmare.

We had a UK holiday booked that we had to cancel, booked Chester zoo which we can't go to with them being tier 2, tried to book bubbles (when it was open, that whole week) but it was closed again by the birthday.

We did go bowling, they open every other lane and it's table/alley service for drinks/food.

Today we've coloured pumpkins I printed offline, and been on a Pokemon hunt... wild.

Tomorrow I have to entertain them again, but luckily wed-fri I'm in work!

It's so hard, I'm so fed up so lord knows how the kids feel. Luckily their sports groups are still going

Spideygirl77 · 26/10/2020 21:23

Wirral parent here too! They have opened the pool at west kirby and europa. But I imagine they will be very busy.
Vale park is good. Fairy village is great fir little ones.
Get away with it in light rain as trees provide cover. It’s our go to place for even half hr. Ice cream from vale cafe, always a winner. Rainbow flavour is amazing Smile

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 26/10/2020 21:26

Only Tier 2 here and still finding it tough. Now we can’t see people inside, things are much harder. There’s a limit to how much time we can spend in the park in the rain, even dressed appropriately. Heavily pregnant so not keen to risk the indoor activities like soft play - and even if I wanted to, everything I’ve looked up is booked up and sold out due to reduced numbers. It feels impossible to be spontaneous at the moment. Not keen to risk public transport for the central London stuff, and as above, not terribly keen on moving inside. I miss just having simple play dates at our house or popping in to see the grandparents. It’s going to be a loooooooong winter. I can handle the cold weather but I wish the rain would ease off.

Mumtumwobble · 26/10/2020 21:30

OP it could be worse. Also in tier 3, we’re both teachers and totally on ours knees (as I know a lot of people are) and have dc ages 8 and 5. We’d already had to cancel plans due to being in tier 3, but then Dh got Covid so now we’re all stuck in and the soonest we can all go out as a family is Saturday. We’ll get 2 days out of the house before the madness of the new half-term starts. Totally crap half-term.

TheCuntOfTheLitter · 26/10/2020 21:41

@Spideygirl77

Another Wirral mum here!! So May of us!

Pleased about the WK pool... thought it would still be closed! Also the fairy place.... where’s that please?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 26/10/2020 22:07

I have teens. They are in a year bubble at school. Can they mix inside?

Pissed down all day and set to continue all week. Tier 3 and wet 1/2 term = bloody nightmare.

zigzagbetty · 26/10/2020 22:13

I'm in liverpool and our soft play is open with the soft play bits closed off. They have three bouncy castles, trampolines and football pitch with mascots. Not sure how that is safer than the actual soft play though 🤔 didn't realise we weren't allowed to go to chester zoo, we went last week and are booked for Wednesday.

I know the place you're talking about, I saw it advertised on Facebook and thought 10/10 for resourcefulness.

Sadly though I think it could end up being busy and potentially become a hot spot, which is why soft plays have been closed.

Don't blame them for trying though and it does sound brilliant fun!

PepsiLola · 26/10/2020 23:00

@TheCuntOfTheLitter it's in Vale Park, which is Wallasey/New Brighton Smile sorry to geg in and answer

MrsTravers · 26/10/2020 23:01

Tier 1 here but a family of 6, so we've not been able to arrange to meet anyone this week.

We can at least get out and do stuff but weather not being kind to us.

YANBU, OP, and you have my sympathies.

deeplybaffled · 26/10/2020 23:23

Wirral here too with a 2 year old and 5 year old.
Also sick to death of the rain. And there are no pumpkins left to be picked anywhere- Claremont, Vineyard, Benty Farm all sold out.
Pumpkins are the new pasta, apparentlyShock

deeplybaffled · 26/10/2020 23:25

And whilst I’ve not been, I thought Chester Zoo was not illegal to go - I think it is advised not to cross the border, not prohibited.

myhobbyisouting · 26/10/2020 23:28

Tier 3 with a 6 year old having to isolate is worse. Can't believe you planned picnics for October half term anyway 😅 are you wise?

DaisyDoo09 · 26/10/2020 23:38

Wales here and it's absolutely rubbish.

Cant buy craft stuff for the kids . Had to buy a kettle off Amazon as I cant get one from my local Asda that's a 2 minute drive away as its not "essential " not the end off the world i know .

Tier3ToTier3 · 26/10/2020 23:49

Random question. I’m in Manchester which is tier 3. It’s advisable not to travel, but not illegal. We have been living a very restrictive life since this began, not mixed with other adults etc. However, we’d book an outdoor activity which is still open, but in a tier 2 (soon to be tier 3). We aren’t meeting anyone there, have no symptoms etc. Would you still go? And also, what would happen if stoped and we’ve left our area?
