Half term for us this week am on the Wirral. I had some plans for me and DC 5 & 3 we have got some great parks locally and the beach literally on my door step so was going to picnic days and just generally be out and about! ........

Well it is pissing down all week!!! Again we have some great indoor stuff for rainy days but it’s all shut!!! Due to being in Tier 3 Lockdown. Am sick of being stuck in with them so are they to be fair.......there is only so much baking, Lego and crafts we can do

I am preparing to be flamed for being a bit of a brat but am just so fed up of being stuck in!!

Sorry, meant to post in a new thread.

user626847 · 26/10/2020 23:50

Another in Wirral. I've got Chester zoo booked for later in the week and not sure what to do, I can't find black and white info on if we are allowed to go. I thought it was just travelling to and staying over that wasn't allowed between tiers. DH is working in Chester that day and passed the zoo so travelling with him wouldn't be any extra travel... And it's all set up for contactless entry and social distancing once there. However I don't want to get there and be turned away because of the address on one membership.

userxx · 27/10/2020 04:46

Had to buy a kettle off Amazon as I cant get one from my local Asda that's a 2 minute drive away as its not "essential

Madness.

deeplybaffled · 27/10/2020 07:07

A Wirral friend with membership of Chester Zoo went last Friday and had no issues with being allowed in. But as you say, it’s all so vague!

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 27/10/2020 07:10

I'm in Wales and it is tipping it down. Putting waterproofs on and going for a walk everyday. Otherwise some baking and crafts and board games and lots of TV. Focusing on the fact that we are all spending time together even if it isn't exciting.

@Tier3ToTier3

Random question. I’m in Manchester which is tier 3. It’s advisable not to travel, but not illegal. We have been living a very restrictive life since this began, not mixed with other adults etc. However, we’d book an outdoor activity which is still open, but in a tier 2 (soon to be tier 3). We aren’t meeting anyone there, have no symptoms etc. Would you still go? And also, what would happen if stoped and we’ve left our area?
No legal basis to prevent us from travelling outside the area. Nothing in the regulations to say we can't. I'm in the same position.
Lollyneenah · 27/10/2020 07:26

Wales here too, bore da pawb Daffodil
Yes its shite. Got emergency welly delivery yesterday (mark drakeford children must never have shot up 2 inches in a month) and we'll be out on the beach soon as my coffee kicks in

Slat3 · 27/10/2020 07:35

Is it just me in tier 3 who thinks it’s ‘normal’?
Ok we can’t see friends or family but haven’t been able to since March, we went into local lockdown end of July (and no grandparents help with childcare over the school holidays was allowed!!) in my area.

Loads is open for the children, only thing that is shut is soft play. We went to soft play yesterday (Warrington before it locks down today), we have a 1 hour canal cruise tomorrow, scary break out room Thursday and farm / pumpkin picking Friday - we went a bit mad. On Halloween we’ll be walking round pumpkin spotting & snuggling down with a film.

I think your issue is you don’t drive, your DH is working & it’s raining mainly. Tier 3 for me is no different to what it’s been throughout but better because most of the children stuff is now open. I reckon they’ll need a tier 4 as it’s a bit ridiculous to call it a lock down IMO! I would hate to be in Wales where theres an actual lock down.

I hope you find something fun to do & I sympathise that you are having a hard time.

IPeedInThePool · 27/10/2020 07:38

Yep Vale Park is great for the kids we live very close which is good. I didn’t know bubbles had reopened I thought it had shut down.

Off food shopping this morning wish me luck arhhhhh ...if it’s not too rainy this afternoon we might clean the chickens out 🐓

Tier 1 here. I took the whole week off work to spend with the kids only for DD7 to get a text on first day of half term to say her teacher has COVID so she has to self isolate for 14 days!!! Bloody typical as we had so much planned Sad

TheCuntOfTheLitter · 27/10/2020 07:49

@deeplybaffled

Wirral here too with a 2 year old and 5 year old. Also sick to death of the rain. And there are no pumpkins left to be picked anywhere- Claremont, Vineyard, Benty Farm all sold out. Pumpkins are the new pasta, apparentlyShock
@deeplybaffled

My husband bought some from Upton Sainsbury’s last night! I was really impressed because everywhere else was sold out

@PepsiLola

Thanks, I always forget about vale park, will pop along

RaggieDolls · 27/10/2020 08:05

Thanks @ssd. Makes a change from being called a snowflake Smile

T2 here but having just done a two week isolation I'm nervous any indoor activities as it'll increase the risk of being told to isolate again.

The hardest thing is not being able to meet up with friends. Seeing our friends is always the highlight of school holidays. DD8 says she wishes she was in school because then she'd be with her mates. Sad

PepsiLola · 27/10/2020 11:19

On the day we had cheated zoo booked, it was pissing down. So that and the tier issues, we didn't bother.

I've read on fb about someone being fined for going to Cheshire oaks, but I don't believe any fb gossip.

My colleague got pulled going to deeside the other week, got sent away and told if they pull him again he will have an automatic fine. This was before the circuit breaker in Wales

ceeveebee · 27/10/2020 11:34

You can’t get fined for going to Cheshire oaks, unless you are coming from Wales, or unless you are supposed to be self isolating/quarantining. There are no legal restrictions for travelling within England.

Sirzy · 27/10/2020 11:37

We did Knowsley safari park just after it reopened which was great so that may be an option for a less than pleasant weather day!

Yeah, although that being said the police have overstepped their authority wrt covid regs before.
Crunchymum · 27/10/2020 11:41

Tier 2 here but SI as my almost 6yo has another cough.

Cannot wait until 3rd November.

PepsiLola · 27/10/2020 12:14

I would have thought Cheshire oaks/zoo was none essential travel (unless you work there), to a different tier?

I really doubt if we did the "wrong" thing we would get busted.

I've seen friends post on social media going to Harry Potter studios! So I don't know why I'm so worried going 15min down the m53 Confused

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 27/10/2020 12:14

My 14 year old is so bored already. He started arranging to meet a friend so had to firmly explain NO , again 🙄

There's no prohibition in Tier 3 areas in England on non-essential travel, nothing in the regulations. It's only guidance, and also they seem to categorise visiting an amenity as essential anyway.
Frazzled2207 · 27/10/2020 12:42

We’re in tier 3 and a neighbour has just posted a pic of them having just arrived in Cyprus! If you can get away with that suspect you will get away with a trip to Cheshire oaks. Big difference between guidance and the law.

Charlottejade89 · 27/10/2020 14:06

In Wales here too, crap not being able to get any toys or craft bits from the supermarkets. I also needed to get a birthday card for my sister, and partners birthday is just after lockdown is supposed to end. On the Welsh gov guidance it says parks and playgrounds are still open though? has anyone been since lockdown started?

Noitjustwontdo · 27/10/2020 14:10

Does tier 3 even change much? I thought it was mostly pubs and bars (that don’t sell food) which had to close? So museums and galleries should still be open surely.

At least you’re not in Wales or NI, they’re in full lockdown.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 27/10/2020 14:21

It's definitely shite, and my DS(5) has 2 weeks of half term! Luckily I work 3 days a week, or we would be in trouble. He's never been one for the puddle jumping and cosy snuggling - he likes shrieking around a soft play at warp speed with a posse of other maniacs. The BMX track is all that stands between me and a mutiny.

IPeedInThePool · 27/10/2020 14:59

I think Cheshire oaks should be ok surely you would be travelling within a T3?

Forgot about balloons!! Cheap packet blow them all up the kids are as happy as a pig in shit! Granted this only works for small kids.
