Half term for us this week am on the Wirral. I had some plans for me and DC 5 & 3 we have got some great parks locally and the beach literally on my door step so was going to picnic days and just generally be out and about! ........

Well it is pissing down all week!!! Again we have some great indoor stuff for rainy days but it’s all shut!!! Due to being in Tier 3 Lockdown. Am sick of being stuck in with them so are they to be fair.......there is only so much baking, Lego and crafts we can do

I am preparing to be flamed for being a bit of a brat but am just so fed up of being stuck in!!

That is really shite for those of you in Wales. Feeling very fortunate after my 1st post.
Sorry it's so bloody crap.

ImFree2doasiwant · 26/10/2020 08:43

Oh god I feel for you OP. Mine are 3 and 5, I'm single so spent lockdown tearing my hair out and trying to work from home.

I'm incredibly thankful that it's not raining and were in the medium risk area, so have options.

We did crafts on Saturday. They enjoyed it at least!

ThisIsntMeHonestGuv · 26/10/2020 08:45

Of course YANBU. I don't think anyone is pretending it's easy.

I'm one of the lucky ones, my kids are adults, but I really feel for people with children trying to navigate this. I know I would have really struggled.

It looks like you have some options now though, so I hope that helps.

userxx · 26/10/2020 08:50

We can't even buy a novel

Is it so people aren't lingering around in shops too long?

Fannybawz · 26/10/2020 08:54

@IPeedInThePool

Wirral here too, OP.

My kids are older; but we have managed: Odeon (open and deserted), safari at Knowsley (went yesterday in car, was great)

If the rain stops we’ll go to Claremont Farm for pumpkins. Maybe Blackpool for the lights
I think I heard that the transport museum is open also.

We will probably go riding later in the week if the weather sorts itself out!

HTH
But yeah. Wirral is tough in the rain.... all the highlights are outside

NichyNoo · 26/10/2020 08:59

Wirral here too. We’re trying to crack on as normal. Going to Southport today as planned (albeit now in the pissing down rain). We’ll walk along the pier, eat chips in the rain and no doubt listen to the kids moan the whole time......

Youreatragedystartingtohappen · 26/10/2020 09:04

South Yorkshire here with the glorious autumnal weather as well.

YANBU, it's a rubbish old situation to be in

fuckfuckingcovid19 · 26/10/2020 09:07

There hasn't really been anything indoors open for children where I live since March :( no soft-plays, no small children in swimming pools as lane swimming only. We went to a couple of museums but all of the interactive kids bits were closed, no bounce and rhyme at libraries, no Sunday school, gymnastics hasn't started back as the council aren't doing any hall lets

Sad
TokyoSushi · 26/10/2020 09:10

We're going into T3 tomorrow, cinema today and then just general pottering about for the rest of the week combined with some WFH for me. I console myself with the fact that it's only a week, remember we've already done getting on for 6 months of this, a week is nothing!

Sl33py · 26/10/2020 09:11

I’m in the SE and we have cases at our kids schools so self isolation for 2 weeks. Both cases no symptoms.

The whole things seems really wrong to me. The young have to be kept in, they are missing out on their education and it’s not affecting them where as the old are walking the streets choosing to catch the bus into town, and they are the ones affected by it. It’s like the world is backwards. Sorry that’s my rant over. Someone please tell me different x

Ding123 · 26/10/2020 09:14

Tier 3 here NW, and like Leicester we never really came out of a local lockdown. Primary aged dc school bubbles closed so have been home the past two weeks self isolating. It's now half term and raining (added bonus of shitter weather than other parts of the UK), so even if we had a garden it wouldn't be much use right now. Yesterday was cold but dry so took them to the park nearby for a kick around. It had a big padlock on the gates so couldn't access it. I'm 38 weeks pregnant so can't venture too far but it really is shite for the kids. They're too old for crafts and baking, they want to see their friends and relatives but can't. All their activities like scouts, rugby etc are not running so end up spending way too much time on gadgets. Sad

TheTrollFairy · 26/10/2020 09:15

It’s so shit. This whole pandemic is shit. I hate it, I hate feel anxious about it, I hate being indoors all the time and that kids are bored shitless.
No flaming from me, it’s a crap crap situation.

Not sure of your funds but Krispy Kreme are delivering doughnuts to decorate which will give you 10 mins of activities.

I would probably wrap up warm and in waterproofs and go biking/scootering and jump in puddles, go down wet slides and on the swings then go home, bath them and get the duvets and do hot chocolate and a film

IPeedInThePool · 26/10/2020 09:19

Pretty skint this week which is crap aswell! Plus I don’t drive DH does but I don’t.

It’s not even 10am and the kids are playing up already Lego’s out everywhere ....although the kitten is having fun with it

Really? That's terrible. Ours are still open, and we're Tier 3. Padlocked parks at this stage is the point where criminal damage becomes acceptable. Mind you if they tried that near me now, someone would turn up with bolt cutters.

Harleyisme · 26/10/2020 09:26

We are tier 3 too in Lancashire. We are struggling to also have a son who has autism with a pda profile and spd. He loves to touch people has no idea of personal space and we spend all our time out in public trying our best to ensure he isn't getting to close to people which makes him stressed out.

sleepwouldbenice · 26/10/2020 09:27

Also on the wirral and cancelled half term breaks to sit in the rain
Liverpool museums definitely open. The world museum probably best for your age kids
We've also done cinema ,(empty) southport and Knowsley safari park booked for today. Appreciate you need a car for many of them
Definitely get to Liverpool
Ps it's due to be dry tomorrow pm!!

Lostinsleepybyes · 26/10/2020 09:28

My son had to self isolate until 3rd November due to a teacher at his school being confirmed as having Covid, so we can’t even leave the bloody house! I’m stuck in with a 14yr old, 9yr old and 9 month old for the next 10 days. We can’t even go for a walk! It’s utterly shit. 😞

Ding123 · 26/10/2020 09:29

@Orcus It's probably so people can't access the play equipment and to prevent virus spread but it means the safe grassy area is also closed off. It's crap!

@TheTrollFairy krispy kremes decoration is a great idea. Just checked on Ubereats and I live too far for delivery Confused never mind.

littledrummergirl · 26/10/2020 09:37

Buy a family box of chocolates, a big bag of popcorn, pizzas, and have a film day all snuggled down on the sofa together.
Board games are good or cards, have a tournament on the xbox /PlayStation if you have one.

BillywigSting · 26/10/2020 09:55

Yanbu I'm in Liverpool and ds(7) has to self isolate due to someone in his class bubble testing positive so all of our half term plans are out of the window too. Was going to take him to the museum, cinema, lunch out. None of that happening now and forecast is for it to be pissing down all week so can't even turf him out into the garden.

Yes it's shit for Leicester too but that doesn't make it less shit for us.

Feellikefrighteningyeah · 26/10/2020 09:56

Trampoline park is open here

TheTrollFairy · 26/10/2020 09:57

@Ding123 DPD are delivering them to people who aren’t on an Uber eat route

Ding123 · 26/10/2020 10:14

Thanks @TheTrollFairy i'll check it out

Maray1967 · 26/10/2020 10:14

Check museum websites for Liverpool before you set off, I’m sure you need to book in advance and they’re not open early in the week. But you can usually spend plenty of time in the World museum up by St George’s Hall, if you can get tickets for the Planetarium, as well as seeing the aquarium, dinosaurs, Egyptian area, space gallery. Mine loved it at your DCs ages. I think the Little Liverpool part of the Museum of Liverpool is closed so you’re probably best heading for the World museum. Are you near a Wirral line station? If so, easy to get to lime street and only a short walk from there. I’m stuck in with my DS sent home to isolate - so no going anywhere until the middle of next week for us.

It's completely unjustifiable even if it is aimed only at preventing access to play areas. There's no legal obligation to do it either.
