Half term for us this week am on the Wirral. I had some plans for me and DC 5 & 3 we have got some great parks locally and the beach literally on my door step so was going to picnic days and just generally be out and about! ........

Well it is pissing down all week!!! Again we have some great indoor stuff for rainy days but it’s all shut!!! Due to being in Tier 3 Lockdown. Am sick of being stuck in with them so are they to be fair.......there is only so much baking, Lego and crafts we can do

I am preparing to be flamed for being a bit of a brat but am just so fed up of being stuck in!!

You could've had a phonecall from school on Sunday to tell you their bubble has burst - my poor DS can't leave the house for the whole of half term (plus week after) now Shock

He is not a happy camper........

Oh that's horrible Frangipani, I'm not surprised he's bummed.

In Wales here too, crap not being able to get any toys or craft bits from the supermarkets. I also needed to get a birthday card for my sister, and partners birthday is just after lockdown is supposed to end. On the Welsh gov guidance it says parks and playgrounds are still open though? has anyone been since lockdown started?
Went to Tesco yesterday , and the birthday cards were available , pens and paper too , but not colouring books There were families all over the play equipment in the town park it wasn't raining then , obviously

YANBU we are tier 3 and the weather is dire (torrential rain) for the rest of the week. We have managed to do a social distance walk with friends, get haircuts and go on a Halloween event at a local spooky hall but the rest of HT? Crafts it is then!!
I have so so much sympathy for people in Wales and NI or those who are having to isolate. It must be really shit.

It’s almost making me wish I’d risked a second child against medical advice as DD is really hankering for the company of other children!

Another in Wirral. I've got Chester zoo booked for later in the week and not sure what to do, I can't find black and white info on if we are allowed to go. I thought it was just travelling to and staying over that wasn't allowed between tiers. DH is working in Chester that day and passed the zoo so travelling with him wouldn't be any extra travel... And it's all set up for contactless entry and social distancing once there. However I don't want to get there and be turned away because of the address on one membership.
We went to Chester zoo yesterday from Liverpool with no problems. It was busy though and very wet! We avoided all the indoor bits, the new islands but had a 30 min queue.
sleepwouldbenice · 30/10/2020 08:46

Chester zoo really isn't essential travel and they will defer your tickets. It's not the law but you are being asked not to travel
Try Knowsley safari park. Which also suits the rain
People are cancelling holidays and not visiting family down the road in tier 2

Orcus · 30/10/2020 11:18

Actually people are being asked to limit travel. And for whatever reason, the government have chosen to include visits to amenities as essential in the guidance.

The reason for that is the economy I'd guess. Chester zoo were absolutely desperate financially during lockdown and if they start turning away people from tier 3 areas then they'll quickly be desperate again 🤷‍♂️
Orcus · 30/10/2020 11:25

Yes, it's presumably an attempt not to fuck over the Tier 3 area local economies any more than they already have.

Pantheon · 30/10/2020 12:25

Yanbu it's not easy. We're in Wales and can only take dd to playgrounds and parks in non stop rain! We have been out for long walks every day regardless of the weather. And the usual indoor crafts etc. Looking forward to when it's over though!

Pantheon · 30/10/2020 12:26

We also can't do outdoor meet ups with others now which has been the hardest bit

Hi I have not seen this in the guidance anywhere, unless it varies by tier 3 council. Can you please send me the the link?
Orcus · 30/10/2020 12:57

This is what I saw- tbf might be different for other Tier 3 areas outside GM.

Either way though, there's no reason not to go to a zoo, nor to suggest a safari park as a better alternative. The zoo will be almost all outside.

sleepwouldbenice · 30/10/2020 14:35

Hi
That article refers to amenities within your tier 3 area not those outside. Chester zoo is in tier 2. About 1/3:is inside
