To think its ok to send my ironing out?

Have discovered this fab ironing lady just down the road from me but DH keeps moaning that i'm sending it out all the time. Its just such a relief to bung it in a bag and have it all come back nicely pressed. Am a SAHM so should i be making time to do it myself?

bigspender, sorry you didn't enjoy your holiday. I've spent a lot of time in Cuba and it can be one of those places that can be hit or miss unfortunately.

bigspender30 · 14/01/2008 12:33

I loved Cuba and the people but hated the whole enclosed resort thing-felt I could have been any where. Absolutely loved Havana and want to go back and stay there. Not practical with a toddler though. He was ill for the whole holiday which is the main reason I had a crap time. Where have you been to in Cuba?

yogimum · 14/01/2008 13:44

I've been all over cuba. First trip was a weeks package on my own to Varadero, though ditched the hotel and got on a bus with two english guys up to Havana for a couple of days. Then quit my job and went for a month, only booked one hotel for the first two nights and then travelled all over the island. Met someone and went back several times though trust me, met the only cuban who didn't want to leave Cuba. I have fond memories of the place but you are right about Varadero, could be anywhere.

bigspender30 · 14/01/2008 15:11

Sounds great! You still with the Cuban?

elliemac · 14/01/2008 20:36

DH and I were like that with the Bahamas. Went to this all inclusive resort on Grand Bahama but to be honest we could have been in Blackpool - It pissed down the whole time. Have you got a good tan then? I see you were ignoring me earlier

Bigspender, no, but great while it lasted.

bigspender30 · 16/01/2008 13:23

Elliemac, sorry I didn't see your post. You feeling better now? Its fairly doing the rounds this novovirus. My lo was ill with the runs for 11 days in Cuba so was in a hotel room for most of the time so no tan! (am a bit paranoid about skin cancer anyway so am a high factor girl). Would you not recommend the Bahamas then? I went to Nassau and Atlantis hotel for a day on a cruise and thought it looked quite nice.
Dreaming of my next holiday.....going to Paris with my friends end of March. yippee!!Yogimum, some of the Cuban men were stunning! You are a very lucky lady!

elliemac · 16/01/2008 20:10

Would maybe try Nassau (especially the Atlantis) but to be honest i was kind of put off last time. Paris is great when its just the girlies. Last time a group of us went it was great. Been with DH before but he can't stand all the sightseeing and shopping. Don't know why he bothers coming on holiday! Where are you going for your summer hols? We're still trying to decide. DH wants to go to America. I want a beach hol. Is the LO better now then?

Now don't get me on the subject of french men. I love that accent!

elliemac · 16/01/2008 20:29

oh la la! I absolutely love a welsh accent!

OP posts:
bigspender30 · 16/01/2008 21:49

I prefer the Irish accent myself Don't know where we are going for summer hols. I would rather not go anywhere ( am still scarred from thinking about that flight back from Cuba!). But if we have to go away then it will def be a short flight.
Where does your hubby fancy in America? Why not do a beach holiday in America? Florida Keys? Miami beach?

yogimum · 16/01/2008 22:04

I love the irish accent aswell, and south african. . Bigspender, bad flight back from Cuba? Did you fly virgin?

bigspender30 · 16/01/2008 22:06

yes how did you guess??? haha

yogimum · 16/01/2008 22:08

Apart from the charters, virgin are the only british airline to fly to Cuba. I always think flying home is the worst as you just want to get home.

bigspender30 · 16/01/2008 22:15

and its always overnight from the caribbean and its impossible to get my toddler to sleep! Never again.........well maybe later in the year lol

yogimum · 16/01/2008 22:19

I can't sleep either unless I'm in one of their beds.

bigspender30 · 16/01/2008 22:24

Now travelling first class would be a different story.....

yogimum · 16/01/2008 22:29

I flew back first class from Barbados, am now not able to fly economy ever again, well maybe short haul.

scottishmummy · 16/01/2008 22:36

hello everyone - this thread has so many permutations, just keeps goin!

bigspender30 · 16/01/2008 22:41

I flew Premium on Virgin.climbed the stairs thinking to myself you beauty, I'm going to get one of those fancy flat beds and a cocktail bar I can sit at whilst hubby entertains the lo. To my horror, it was just like economy but with a wider aisle. Never again. Maybe if I don't go on holiday this year then hubby will fly us first next year. yeah right haha. Are you off on hols this year? I liked Barbados. Had a ball there in the pre baby days.

yogimum · 16/01/2008 22:47

I flew premium out to see dh. I upgraded at the airport as I wanted to sleep on the way home. DH was on a ship stuck in a hurricane. We were together about 36 hours.. Went to the sandy lane hotel for lunch.

bigspender30 · 17/01/2008 13:04

ooh yogimum you are posh with your Sandy Lane ways. Did you see Michael Winner? Poor DH getting stuck on a ship-sounds a scary experience.
Hi Scottishmummy. Nice to see you back again. Happy New year to you x

elliemac · 20/01/2008 21:31

Hi everyone! Sorry haven't posted for ages. Been ultra busy with kiddie things this week.

BigSpender - Sorry babe i'm still trying with the e-mail thing. Have done Florida and the Keys and had a really great time. Just don't know if i fancy the long flight with DD. We're off to Centreparcs for a long weekend in March so might end up back there for summer!!! Not so keen on the flying thing. Had a couple of bad experiences so am keen to stick to terra firma this year but DH says he fancies abroad so we'll see. How is DS now then?

Yogimum - You're so posh - Sandy Lane indeed

Scottishmummy - Long time no speak. How you doing?

bigspender30 · 24/01/2008 15:12

hi elliemac. How are you chick? Feeling better? Ooh let me know how Centerparcs is. I heard it was quite expensive for all the activities but who cares if the lo has a good time! I am thinking of going to a farm or something this year for a week with lo. Going to scour the net for something appropriate. Failing that we may go back to Menorca for a week. Or Ireland. 2 hours flight time tops. Whats this weather like eh? Does my head in

elliemac · 24/01/2008 21:27

Hiya! Someone on mumsnet said that it was £7.50 for some of the activities and you only got 45 minutes for that. The weather is terrible! Its so cold. Can't wait for the summer. After i've posted here i'm going to talk to my brother in law a.k.a computer geek about my e-mail.. Maybe some time this year i'll have it sorted Take care. Speak to you soon x
