To think its ok to send my ironing out?

Have discovered this fab ironing lady just down the road from me but DH keeps moaning that i'm sending it out all the time. Its just such a relief to bung it in a bag and have it all come back nicely pressed. Am a SAHM so should i be making time to do it myself?

this thread has had James Nesbitt's tadger, hot men, and more than just ironing

bigspender30 · 10/12/2007 14:10

Here Elliemac ,
how lucky are you????!

Ironing is the worse job to do, I absolutely hate it... but sending it out????!!! Unless as others have suggested you are 'loaded', if in that case you might as well!!!

bigspender30 · 11/12/2007 15:02

hey elliemac! Am good. Not remotely organised either but hey ho. Took DS to see Santa today. He loved it. He was dancing in the queue with excitement. He had no idea what he was queueing up for! Hilarious! How you keeping anyway? We have had all sorts of flu bugs and conjunctivitis. And how cold is it!! Did you send your ironing out in the end??

elliemac · 13/12/2007 20:19

I did send my ironing out. The pile was humungous!!! I really need to start doing it but i just can't stand it. Glad DS enjoyed Santa. We took LO at the weekend and she screamed her head off. We went to Tony Romas for some dinner at Xscape. The Santa there is fantastic. He's got real white hair and beard. He looks so real its unbelievable. Going to Newcastle tomorrow to visit some friends so we'll probably hit the Metro Centre and get the Chrimbo shopping done. Hope you're all feeling better. Talk to you soon x

Ohhh I used to send my ironing out - wish I could still afford to !!! It's money well spent in my view, you continue and tell your dh he can do it if he isn't happy

hypmum · 13/12/2007 22:25

I loathe it. DH very right on and won't have anyone 'labouring' for us. I send the ironing out on the sly and have it returned under cover of darkness. I also used to have a cleaner on the sly. Bloody good she was too but he never noticed. Just goes to show. Why waste your time?

DingDongJeremyOnVile · 13/12/2007 22:30

Course it's ok. (unless its at the expense of food, bills etc)

I snet my laundry out today. A lovely man came to my door to collect it and will deliver it back to me clean, pressed and folded in the morning.

What's not to like?

bigspender30 · 14/12/2007 13:11

good on you ladies. When I go back to work, I am definitely getting a cleaner.

elliemac · 16/12/2007 20:41

Hey BS - Back from Newcastle. My feet ache and my purse is much lighter but hey ho! Have you had a good weekend then? Got DDs party at toddlers this week and i can't find a nice dress anywhere for her. I can't stand denim things for little girls. Its a kind of dressy but casual affair if you know what i mean - any ideas? Are you thinking of going back to work then? x

We used to send our ironing out as both of us hated doing it and we had a load. Both of us had work clothes that needed ironing on top of our civvy stuff.

I keep on top of it for now, but when child gets a bit bigger I think it will go out again.

The battle is finding someone local who's good and resonable. Will have to seriously check the au pair option out when we're settled in the new place and child is at school full-time.

elliemac · 18/12/2007 19:30

Think an au pair is a good idea but its finding one you can trust isn't it. You have to send the ironing out to someone good. Our last one was shit but this one is really good. Makes all the difference
Where have you gone now big spender? Are you moonlighting as Santa in Frasers?

bigspender30 · 20/12/2007 13:39

HAHA!! Am here. Just been smugly finishing wrapping ALL my presents!!!
Had his wee party at the toddlers during the week. He loved Santa! A lot of the kids were petrified. You all set? We are off on holiday on boxing day so its a double whammy to get ready!
Yes am thinking about going back to work. Setting up my own business with sister in law next year so thats quite exciting. Also want to have another baby at some point-need to convince DH though as he thinks we have our hands full with one! How are you doing anyway? What did you buy in Metro Centre?

elliemac · 20/12/2007 19:35

Didn't get much for christmas at the metro. Mostly just got clothes for me & DD. Have spent all day today at the shops. My feet are killing me!!! Have finally got all that i need though so now its just the wrapping. DH is a pain this year though. I haven't a clue what to get him and he keeps telling me he doesn't need anything - very helpful indeed. Where are you off to on holiday you lucky bugger? You must enjoy being stressed or something - boxing day, are you mad? I think i'm just jealous really. Take care. Speak soon x

bigspender30 · 21/12/2007 18:37

we are off to Cuba for some mojitos and salsa! Cant wait. Packing some stuff tonight.
Were the shops mobbed? Whats Santa bringing your dd?

elliemac · 21/12/2007 19:32

Now i am jealous. The shops were sooooo busy. Have got her loads. She's totally spoilt but who cares. She's getting a pink little tikes car, a piano, aquadraw, an iggle piggle, millions of stuff from ELC and a few other bits and bobs. My mum and my sister have went mad with stuff for her as well. What about DS, whats he getting? I'm so tired tonight i can hardly be bothered to cook anything for tea. I just want to go to bed. DD is cutting the big teeth at the back so we've been up since 3 this morning - not to worry. Hope all is well. Take care x

bigspender30 · 21/12/2007 21:51

she will be soo excited! I got lucky and got a ride on Thomas for ds from ebay for £60. It looks brand new so am happy with that. Loads of other bits and pieces-paints, clothes, a garage, books. He will be spoilt rotten. I love xmas especially now I have a wee boy!
You poor thing being up since 3.Hope you get a better sleep tonight. hugs to you x

elliemac · 27/12/2007 18:55
