Do they honestly think the public won’t notice the not-so subtle shift in terminology to “Australian-Style Deal?” Clearly, the latest Cummings brainwave.

No - it’s “No-Deal.” As in - nothing and you have failed. You can put whatever spin on it you like, it won’t wash.

I did laugh yesterday when MG was rambling on about this “Australian-style Deal” and Andrew Marr asked why “Australian” as opposed to a “Mongolian-Style Deal” or an “Afghan” one?

Basically, we are likely to be out in less favourable terms than Canada.

Surely, this has to be the end if this government?

Impose? You're having a laugh surely? We need a trade deal. This comes with certain caveats. We can walk away of course. Then we will be fucked.

I get the impression that the majority of posters on here have no idea what the EU are attempting to impose on the UK

And by use of that language, neither have you.

I am not just talking about them demanding permanent ownership of our fishing waters or insisting that the UK should adhere to the EU’s framework for limiting subsidies to businesses. Both are unacceptable and there are plenty more.

Please continue to list them. You will find there are posters who are well up on the intricacies of the negotiations that will be happy to back you up or call you out.

Or you could just carry on saying "loads of things" like a student trying to get away with "etc" after making the first point in a 5-point question.

PhilSwagielka · 20/10/2020 19:12

What are they going to impose on us?

Hopoindown31 · 20/10/2020 19:15

permanent ownership of our fishing waters

Utter bullshit. The UK want to access the EU market to sell fish. The EU have said they want to keep the current access rights to accept that. The UK has refused to accept this.

or insisting that the UK should adhere to the EU’s framework for limiting subsidies to businesses.

Again this is part of a deal where the UK gets access to the EU market. It is fairly obvious that allowing market access and then allowing a country to use state subsidies to undercut the rest of the market is not in the interests of the EU. If we want market access we need to agree the rules by which that takes place.

The reality is that the UK want EU market access but don't want to adhere to any common rules or allow any reciprocal control. They are deliberately asking for the moon on a stick because they want an Australian no deal.

You'll just be sat there blaming the EU as out economy goes into meltdown while Boris's chums, the disaster capitalists, make a pretty penny. Distraction successful.

nosswith · 20/10/2020 19:26

The EU wants us to agree to continue standards we agreed to in the first place. In a way, to stick to agreements. Seems reasonable to me and in any case benefits us economically.

StoneofDestiny · 20/10/2020 19:30

Talking about a moral imperative implies that he actually has morals. I have not seen any evidence of this yet

Yes 😂😂Johnson and morals have never been in the same room!

And just to prove my point next post comes an ill informed Tory.
