To ask if anyone knows why I could be getting these wounds?

Recently I’ve been a bit itchy as if I have a bite, and I’ll scratch but not massively hard or aggressively. They very quickly turn into big, sore wounds that leak fluid. I’ve got one on my leg and now one on my bum cheek (?!). Anyone know what this could be?! I can’t find much online. Would go to the GP but I don’t want to waste appointments as it’s not a huge deal

Gosh, check your bed for bed bugs! Any animals in the house? Fleas?

Lanabananaaaaaa · 18/10/2020 13:05

No bed bugs and no fleas!

Stigmata ? Halo

ooheerelemeds · 18/10/2020 13:17

Spider bite?

ShirleyPhallus · 18/10/2020 13:18

Horse fly?

If they are opening as sores then you might need to see a dr to get ABs

speakout · 18/10/2020 13:18

Herpes?

speakout · 18/10/2020 13:20

Do they appear only on your bum or thighs?
Genital herpes can manifest on the legs and buttocks as well as genital area.
If they happen elseswhere- arms shoulders etc, then probably not herpes.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 18/10/2020 13:21

Try showing a pharmacist, they've seen everything and will be able to advise.

Veterinari · 18/10/2020 13:24

It could be:

Dermatitis herpetiformis - it's a manifestation of coeliac disease

Neurodermatitis - you're likely scratching unconsciously in your sleep, needs strong steroids

FippertyGibbett · 18/10/2020 13:25

My eczema used to leak clear fluid.

DangerMouse17 · 18/10/2020 13:28

I've had this OP, I never found out what caused it but assumed it may be an allergy to dust mites, so lots of hot washes and hoovering happened. It wasnt fleas, bed bugs or spiders....so that was my last option! Seemed to work.

SimplyPizza · 18/10/2020 13:29

Of course it’s a big deal if they are developing into sores. You need to go to your doctor asap in case they turn infectious.

LaBellina · 18/10/2020 13:31

OP could there be ladybugs inside your home, shielding from the cold weather?

They seem cute but are actually pretty agressive and might bite humans if they haven't had any acces to their regular food for a while (due to being inside someone's home).

MushMonster · 18/10/2020 13:32

I bet you it is a spider bite! Check your bed covers for tiny spiders.
Similar happened to me once. It was a tiny red spider. I ended up with a bump of the size of a tennis ball on the back of my knee for two weeks. And it hurt! Apparently they inject you with some tissue destroying enzymes so they can keep eating you. Gross! And bloody itchy and painful.

AuditAngel · 18/10/2020 13:37

Not a solution, but E45 have an itchy skin cream which is amazing, I have psoriasis and in an early stage the new patches are dreadfully itchy

Haggisfish · 18/10/2020 13:39

Could be impetigo.

NeonGenesis · 18/10/2020 13:52

Could be impetigo.

My first thought too! I remember when we had an outbreak at my school. Everyone got it, it was horrible. My clothes got stuck to me from all the gross fluid my sores were leaking Envy

JaffaCake70 · 18/10/2020 13:52

@speakout

Herpes?
How high up is the one on your leg? If it's higher up, thigh level, it could be Herpes. You need to get to STI clinic if this is the case.
Lanabananaaaaaa · 18/10/2020 13:54

No I don’t have herpes. They’re also on my shins/feet.

Moonmelodies · 18/10/2020 13:55

Covid-20?

boredwithmylastusername · 18/10/2020 13:57

Impetigo my thoughts as well
Very contagious, get it checked and treated
Don't share anything , or touch things others in the household touch until you know either way

Shinygoldbauble · 18/10/2020 13:59

Are you just reacting to insect bites? I have a bad reaction to bites that barely register on other people. The pharmacist told me to take an antihistamine and use hydrocortisone cream if they flare up.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 18/10/2020 14:04

Are they slightly pearly looking? I have recently caught something called Molluscum contagiosum

Lanabananaaaaaa · 18/10/2020 14:05

Hmm, no I don’t think it’s impetigo. I think maybe I am reacting to bites... I’m going to go to the pharmacy tomorrow and see if they can help. Will bring up the suggestions from here to rule them out. Thank you xx

Can you post a picture of a wound?

Are you're saying there's not bite visible on the skin, just an itchy patch which deteriorates rapidly until an open sore?
