To ask if anyone knows why I could be getting these wounds?

Recently I’ve been a bit itchy as if I have a bite, and I’ll scratch but not massively hard or aggressively. They very quickly turn into big, sore wounds that leak fluid. I’ve got one on my leg and now one on my bum cheek (?!). Anyone know what this could be?! I can’t find much online. Would go to the GP but I don’t want to waste appointments as it’s not a huge deal

Looks like a cat flea bite to me. I react the same. If you don’t have a cat then you could have been near one and a flea jumped onto your clothing.
Anthisan to stop the itching and Savlon to heal it up. If you get any more you might have to get Indorex spray to spray your carpets and soft furnishings.

Nopenotsureigiveahoot · 18/10/2020 16:06

mosquito bite?

Antonov · 18/10/2020 16:09

Looks like the very fine tips of Narwhal tusks to me. Is there any chance you are waking up in the morning with damp sheets that smell slightly of sea ice OP?

EmpressSuiko · 18/10/2020 16:11

Could be Dyshidrotic eczema, you need to book in with your GP and get a referral to a dermatologist to be sure what the cause is, dermol cream could help big you first need to know what it is before applying anything to the skin or you might risk making it worse, try not to scratch them and keep them clean as you don’t want to risk causing a greater infection.

Justnormajean · 18/10/2020 16:11

I have a type of psoriasis that does this. Itchy blisters develop, fluid comes out, dry scaly plaque of skin forms on the site of the blister. Mine is on one foot and sometimes one hand.
Regardless you should probably contact your GP.

firesong · 18/10/2020 16:12

Are you scratching at night maybe and making them worse? Perhaps cover them at bedtime

EmpressSuiko · 18/10/2020 16:13

Do the bumps resemble blisters at all?

raddledoldmisanthropist · 18/10/2020 16:31

There is a rare type of wasp which lays eggs under the skin of a live host. Looks just like that.

Leave one of the lumps to get really big and see whether it starts to buzz.

TheAdventuresoftheWishingChair · 18/10/2020 16:33

This thread is making me appreciate my gp more Grin Who knew there were so many things that could cause similar symptoms.

I really really doubt the OP is being eaten alive by skin-burrowing wasps, though.

Mosquitoes

@NiceGerbil

Sorry got to ask, what's a ladybug?
The American name for a ladybird.
NiceGerbil · 18/10/2020 16:47

Ah ok thank you!

DappledOliveGroves · 18/10/2020 16:49

Looks similar to what I have which I think is pompholyx. I get intensely itchy areas (usually hands and feet), I'll scratch, the skin blisters and then peels off leaving a sore. It flares up randomly. I just stick some savlon on it and it's fine, albeit I have a few scars. I had eczema as a child and I think it's related to that.

CrunchyCarrot · 18/10/2020 16:56

You may be reacting to oxalates in your diet. So called 'dumping' oxalates can happen via the skin. Do you eat a lot of plant-based food? Green smoothies?

Pimms0clock · 18/10/2020 17:03

It sounds like Skeeter syndrome. It’s the name for a localized allergic reaction to mosquito bites causing inflammation.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/10/2020 17:22

You should see your gp. It’s not normal for wounds to pop up like this.

Lanabananaaaaaa · 18/10/2020 17:29

Sorry! I’ve posted another picture here. No, no blisters. And I have had STD tests. I have two cats but they have no signs of fleas and nobody else in the house is being bitten!

To ask if anyone knows why I could be getting these wounds?

What does it look like before you itch it ?
To me that just looks like you've damaged your skin due to scratching.
I get the occasional random itch but there’s nothing there so I whack some Eurax on it and leave it alone.

Staffy1 · 18/10/2020 17:45

Have you got any pictures of one before you scratch it?

Lanabananaaaaaa · 18/10/2020 17:57

No :( I literally have only looked at it today after scratching!

Lanabananaaaaaa · 18/10/2020 17:57

Oh, sorry! And no, I literally only really notice after and this is the first I have taken a photo of.

@Shinygoldbauble

Are you just reacting to insect bites? I have a bad reaction to bites that barely register on other people. The pharmacist told me to take an antihistamine and use hydrocortisone cream if they flare up.
I'm like this with midgie bites. I have to force myself not to scratch. And I use Sudocreme.

I think Antonov has it !

whojamaflip · 18/10/2020 19:20

Looks like the reaction I get to flea bites - are your pets up to date with their flea treatment?

FWIW I'm the only one who gets bitten in the house if there are fleas - never find any on our cats or dogs but the buggers are there! Antihistamine and afterbite all the way for me.

user1471453601 · 18/10/2020 19:29

I had something similar a few years ago.

It was just about everywhere apart from the soles of my feet, the palms of my hands and my face. I ruined countless sets of bedding, a mattress and more PJs than I care to think about.

I waffling antihistamines and using disprobase two to three times a day.

Turns out id become allergic to one of my asthma medications.

Like you, my skin felt paper thin and every morning if wake up with a new area of bleeding sores.
