Lasagna with cheese on top

RainbowRaine · 15/10/2020 18:53

Just ordered a food delivery as a treat, DH ordered a lasagna and it came with cheese on top.

I would of complained as cheese does not belong on lasagna but DH loves it as says it's meant to come with melted grated cheese on top.

I disagree and think it's just meant to have the white sauce.

Should Lasagna have cheese?

YANBU = No cheese

YABU = Yes cheese

?Confused
Lasagne always has cheese on top the more the better.

If there's no cheese it's not a lasagne. It's just sheets of pasta with beef between each layer

Jammysod · 15/10/2020 19:23

The golden cheesy top is the best bit, especially if it's a bit charred around the edges!

ErrolTheDragon · 15/10/2020 19:24

I suppose any dish made of lasagne sheets layered with something and baked is "lasagne".

But one without cheese wouldn't be a nice one.

Of course it should at least have Parmesan on it.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 15/10/2020 19:24

Are you out of your mind?

Sexnotgender · 15/10/2020 19:24

Cheese makes everything better.

MissConductUS · 15/10/2020 19:25

No cheese? It needs at least two, three is better.

I want some cheese now.

Mef82 · 15/10/2020 19:25

If it’s a thick layer of gloopy orange oily cheddar then yanbu. If it’s grated Parmesan then yabu.

ErrolTheDragon · 15/10/2020 19:25

Wtf does a top layer of cheeseless bechamel look and taste like anyway? Confused

MorganKitten · 15/10/2020 19:26

Why wouldn’t it have cheese?

Like disappointment.
Chewbecca · 15/10/2020 19:27

Actually when I was a kid my mum used to make it with plain white sauce as you describe. I didn’t like it, found it sickly. I do, now however love a deep, cheesy, lasagne so YABU, even if you may be right from a purist viewpoint.

Pbbananabagel · 15/10/2020 19:27

YABVU, also, you haven’t lived! Try it!

ToastyCrumpet · 15/10/2020 19:28

Sprinkled Parmesan, woman!

fairydustandpixies · 15/10/2020 19:28

YABVVVVVU

ToastyCrumpet · 15/10/2020 19:28

@ErrolTheDragon you put nutmeg in though.

picosandsancerre · 15/10/2020 19:29

Traditional Italian lasagne has white sauce and a sprinke of parmesan on the top

Stripesnomore · 15/10/2020 19:29

DS takes the crispy chewy cheesy layer off his lasagne as he doesn’t like it.

Then I eat it for him.

Regret.
corythatwas · 15/10/2020 19:30

2020 is a cheeseless lasagne

Someone finally nailed this abomination of a year. Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 15/10/2020 19:31
@ErrolTheDragon you put nutmeg in though.
Well of course you put nutmeg in it; that doesn't really help with what would happen to the surface of the bechamel. It's not egg custard. I do sometimes to an egg and yogurt topping but that needs Parmesan too, it's not custardy.

EatPrayYoga · 15/10/2020 19:32
Hmm
MrsWhites · 15/10/2020 19:32

Just asked my DD for her opinion, this was her response:

‘A cheese less lasagne is 2020 summed up in a meal’

TwistAndTout · 15/10/2020 19:32

Everything should have a layer of melted cheese on top. EVERYTHING.

Laaalaaaa · 15/10/2020 19:32

I certainly wouldn’t rate your lasagne if you served it to me without cheese.
