Lasagna with cheese on top

RainbowRaine · 15/10/2020 18:53

Just ordered a food delivery as a treat, DH ordered a lasagna and it came with cheese on top.

I would of complained as cheese does not belong on lasagna but DH loves it as says it's meant to come with melted grated cheese on top.

I disagree and think it's just meant to have the white sauce.

Should Lasagna have cheese?

YANBU = No cheese

YABU = Yes cheese

2020 is a cheeseless lasagne

So true! 😂

Redwolf1 · 15/10/2020 19:10

Has to have cheese on top. I have plain white sauce in the middle layers but always have cheese on the very top. Although these days I have to leave a portions worth with no cheese on as dd2 hates cheese (not even sure shes mine tbh, who hates cheese?)

SunshineCake · 15/10/2020 19:10

I would have complained if it didn't have cheese..

FairFriday · 15/10/2020 19:10

This will blow your mind then... I use cheese sauce instead of béchamel...

MiddleClassMother · 15/10/2020 19:10

Cheese goes on top of a lasagne. Not sure what ones you've been eating before lol (clearly a shit one)

Greenhairbrush · 15/10/2020 19:11

Yabu. The more cheese the merrier, imo.

TheSandman · 15/10/2020 19:12

@arethereanyleftatall

Yabu. Classic lasagna has bechemal sauce only but also Parmesan cheese on top. No one makes it like that because it's far far nicer to use (cheddar) cheese sauce instead of bechemal. Ricotta, mozzarella, cheddar, Parmesan all used frequently making lasagna.

What does yours look like?? It wouldn't brown on top without cheese.

I do.

Chedder cheese in lasagne? Yeach!

Napqueen1234 · 15/10/2020 19:12

You are insane. Cheese less lasagna is worse than covid and Brexit combined!

ruthieness · 15/10/2020 19:12

I put cheese and then pesto on mine!

Sacrilege!

BigBadVoodooHat · 15/10/2020 19:12

I disagree and think it's just meant to have the white sauce.

🤢

This is the most wrong anyone has ever been on AIBU.

FairFriday · 15/10/2020 19:13

I once actually out too much cheese in a lasagne.

Nonotthisagain · 15/10/2020 19:13

This is the only time I've actually wanted the voting button to be there! Cheese on top!!!

WinWinnieTheWay · 15/10/2020 19:13

Bechamel sauce and grated cheddar in this house.

caughtalightsneeze · 15/10/2020 19:14

@FairFriday

I once actually out too much cheese in a lasagne.
I don't believe you. I don't believe that's possible!
cherrybakewellll · 15/10/2020 19:14

I'm making lasagne tomorrow and there'll be at least 400g of grated cheddar on the top. Parmesan once it's cooked too.

Rhine · 15/10/2020 19:14

I don’t know WTF you’ve been eating before now OP, but it wasn’t a lasagne that’s for sure.

iklboo · 15/10/2020 19:14

I don't want to visit your planet if there's no cheese on top of a lasagne.

FairFriday · 15/10/2020 19:15

No - really. I had a huge pack of grated cheese and thought ‘ah what the hell’ and used the whole lot. It was almost solid cheese and so so salty!

Bummsbet · 15/10/2020 19:15

Traditionally lasagne doesn't have cheese on no. But it's amazing with it! I put Stilton in my cheese sauce and then a good sprinkle of grated cheddar on top. Try it. Live a little!

BigBadVoodooHat · 15/10/2020 19:15

Who are the 2% of YANBU

Deviants and trolls, that’s who.

bibbitybobbitycats · 15/10/2020 19:15

I often use ricotta cheese instead of bechamel... (Gennaro Contaldo recipe).

KatherineJaneway · 15/10/2020 19:16

You'd hate to eat at mine OP, the amount of cheese that goes in the bechamel ...

BarbaraofSeville · 15/10/2020 19:16

I'm starting to think we've been had. OP starts a preposterous thread and disappears to enjoy her perfectly standard lasagne.

vanillandhoney · 15/10/2020 19:16

Are you going to come back and defend your wrongness?

MrsWhites · 15/10/2020 19:16

Half Italian here 🙋‍♀️ - lasagne always has cheese on top!

I know 2020 has been a shit year but lasagne with no cheese would just be the cherry on the bloody cake!
