Lasagna with cheese on top

Just ordered a food delivery as a treat, DH ordered a lasagna and it came with cheese on top.

I would of complained as cheese does not belong on lasagna but DH loves it as says it's meant to come with melted grated cheese on top.

I disagree and think it's just meant to have the white sauce.

Should Lasagna have cheese?

YANBU = No cheese

YABU = Yes cheese

Just thought I'd let you all know I had a portion of lasagne from the freezer for tea and added extra cheese before heating it up and served with waffles

We have the cheese laws in our house.

1 If no cheese add cheese.
2 If it has cheese add more cheese.
3 There is no such thing as too much cheese.

Of course there is cheese on lasagne. Lots of melting motzarella.

Reporting back. Cheese to pasta/sauce ratio was perfect... and leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Just waiting for the apple pie to come out of the oven 🐷

If it doesn’t have cheese on top, then it’s not a lasagna.

How do you not know that lasagna has a cheese topping?

Reporting back. Lasagne was delicious. Long, slow cooked ragu layered with mozarealla and lasagne sheets, topped with bechamel sauce and sprinkled with parmesan.

It's definitely cheese on lasagne that makes people obese.
It should be banned, everyone would be slim otherwise...

You don't put cheese ON lasagne, cheese goes IN lasagne, layered between ragu, bechamel and pasta.

I think you'll find that finishing a lasagne by sprinkling parmesan on the top layer of bechamel sauce is perfectly acceptable.

Lasagne only has Parmesan on the top of the final layer of bechamel sauce. There is no cheese inside a traditional lasagne and certainly not cheddar or mozzarella. Though clearly you can make your own version of any recipe, hence seafood lasagne etc

Yes, I do that but plenty of mozzarella and parmesan goes inside.

Yabu but the Cheddar Toppers are worse.

Mozzarella and parmesan are the only appropriate cheeses for lasagna.

well yes because lasagna is the pasta and the al forno means baked in the oven so there is no right or wrong and even different parts of Italy would have different recipes.

The OP is wrong is thinking her way is the only way. It is an acceptable way but they all are.

Lasagna is something that we all should make how we want it. I would like to think going forward she would add cheese if she made it to her husband's side as he clearl likes it

I wouldn’t be expecting grated cheddar, no, never. But yes to Parmesan. It’s on the top layer.

I answered up thread that I never put cheese in, lovely baked white sauce here, but I saw one post suggesting ricotta through some layers so I’m probably going to try that - sounds interesting.

Oh and just for the record I am the biggest cheese freak going so not adding it to lasagne isn’t necessarily due to not appreciating the mighty wonderfulness of 🧀

Yes bit I expect the rules are

Need to use lasagna sheets
Baked in oven
Layers of some kind of red based sauce
Layers of some kind of white based sauce

Within that I think it is usual to have some form of cheese (Mozarella/ricotta/parmesan

The desire for cheese sauce and cheddar I think is the anglicized version of it
