Lasagna with cheese on top

RainbowRaine · 15/10/2020 18:53

Just ordered a food delivery as a treat, DH ordered a lasagna and it came with cheese on top.

I would of complained as cheese does not belong on lasagna but DH loves it as says it's meant to come with melted grated cheese on top.

I disagree and think it's just meant to have the white sauce.

Should Lasagna have cheese?

YANBU = No cheese

YABU = Yes cheese

Where do we stand on garlic bread and lasagne. Or lasagne and chips?

My friend would have all three!!!

user1496146479 · 16/10/2020 13:39

Another who needs to know what you put on top instead??

FallonsTeaRoom · 16/10/2020 13:42

The cheesy topping is the bestest bit!

What time’s dinner? I'll bring the wine. Grin

@RainbowRaine

Janevaljane I make my own just never add cheese on top.
It's a wonder you still have a DH frankly!! I'd have divorced you & your non cheesy ways long, long ago!!
Teaandchocolatedigestives · 16/10/2020 13:48

Lasagna without cheese. What fresh hell is this????
I put marscapone in the white soon with mozzarella and parmesan and Maybe cheddar on top!!

Angrybird17 · 16/10/2020 13:54

Of course lasagna should have cheese on top!

MikeEhrmantraut · 16/10/2020 13:56

@Brunt0n and @checkingforballoons have it right

Didlum · 16/10/2020 14:00

I think you are right that it's supposed to be white sauce but i make it with cheese sauce as it's tastier. Then sprinkle cheese on top

Hahaha88 · 16/10/2020 14:03

Your poor family, you shouldn't even be allowed to eat Lasagna let alone make it if you aren't putting cheese on it!

Crosswithlifeatm · 16/10/2020 14:04

White sauce on moussaka.Cheese on lasagne.I had one with fresh breadcrumbs and butter on the top but that had cream cheese and mozzarella inside.

giletrouge · 16/10/2020 14:08

Are you saying no cheese at all OP or just no cheese on top?
Both are wrong of course but they're wrong in different ways. I mean no cheese on top is bad enough but if you have no cheese at all I can't see the point of any of it.
Might as well eat soggy toast.

Pizzaistheanswer · 16/10/2020 14:12

If your DH was posting about his DW refusing to accept that lasagna is not worthy of its name if it is not topped with cheese, he'd get a LTB from me.

I've never approved of cheese on garlic bread.

The two combos you actually mention are lush and should be the law.

TheGoogleMum · 16/10/2020 14:23

I voted YABU. And then thought I'd back it up with research. Googled lasagne recipe, top 3 all have cheese on top. I didnt bother to look at a 4th

shas19 · 16/10/2020 14:36

I dont know what you've been eating but it's not a lasagne, cheese is a must. Lots of it

RainbowRaine · 16/10/2020 14:58

Just the white sauce on top, that's my favourite bit.

DH loved his dinner last night.

I just think the cheese ruins the taste of the lasagna sauce.

I will quite happily eat a whole baked Camembert to myself and I add grated cheese to spaghetti bolognese.

I'm not against cheese, just not on lasagna.

I once had a lasagne that was otherwise lovely but didn't have any cheese on top. I assumed they'd forgotten the cheese but I don't like to make a fuss so I didn't say anything. You don't own a pub in Llandudno do you OP? Grin

On the subject of carbs, I'm well up for both garlic bread and chips. I never serve it with them at home but I'd be disappointed not to get them in a pub.

Ginfordinner · 16/10/2020 15:05

Go on. Admit it OP.
You are just wrong Grin

giletrouge · 16/10/2020 15:12

So no cheese at all?
You've misrepresented the level of madness.
No cheese at all is barely any different to porridge.

vanillandhoney · 16/10/2020 15:16

I'm not against cheese, just not on lasagna.

You are wrong Grin

AryaStarkWolf · 16/10/2020 15:20

If you google image Lasagne pretty much every picture has cheese on top. I would absolutely expect cheese

Baaaahhhhh · 16/10/2020 15:56

This beautifully illustrates why Italians are slim, and we are fat. All that cheese (and garlic bread, and god forbid chips) Grin.

Spam88 · 16/10/2020 16:31

@Baaaahhhhh are you suggesting we've got the Mediterranean diet all wrong..?

Kathygnome · 16/10/2020 17:30

I've heard of purists who scoff at ricotta rather than bechamel in the layers, but it still has cheese on the top.
