Where do you think we'll be?

I hope to god, somewhere near normal.

Feels incredibly bleak.

OP posts:
Leaannb · 13/10/2020 15:40

Same place we are now. There is no going back

thesnob20 · 13/10/2020 15:42

@Leaannb still in and out of lockdown? So we will never again live with no restrictions....

I have to disagree there.

OP posts:
ToastyCrumpet · 13/10/2020 15:42

You’re not asking for predictions, though OP. You’re asking for speculation. It’s unhealthy and if we think a situation we don’t like is coming, it’s up to all of use to fight it in any way we can, even if only small ways rather than sitting around wringing our hands about it.

No I din't think we will be living without restrictions for many years.

CakeRequired · 13/10/2020 15:44

I'd like to think it can't get any worse, but brexit hasn't been finalised yet regarding deals so... Plus we are never going to stop cases rising of covid. Probably be in the same place as now next year, although more people might be without jobs and more people dead.

Sorry not really got anything positive.

thesnob20 · 13/10/2020 15:45

@Leaannb @CakeRequired

More people will be dead to suicide if your predictions happen.

OP posts:
PhilCornwall1 · 13/10/2020 15:45

The easy answer, despite what anyone says, not one member of the general public knows.

One thing I think we can guarantee is, if we still have jobs, we will be paying more tax to pay for this shambles. After all, "we are all in this together", whether we wanted to be, or not.

triceratops12 · 13/10/2020 15:46

More poverty, more job losses, and covid still milling about. Those worker paying high taxes

Namechangedforthisoct2 · 13/10/2020 15:47

Maybe the crazy delusional people will be proven correct and some big names including our government will be brought down and charged for this complete fiasco?!!

katy1213 · 13/10/2020 15:47

There have been other pandemics, All have ended eventually. This one will, too.

triceratops12 · 13/10/2020 15:48

Oh and I don't think Boris will be prime minister still

Leaannb · 13/10/2020 15:49

That doesn't change my feelings on it. Its going to be years before we get back to any sense of normality. To be honest this is go0ing to be as normal as it gets for a while

doctorhamster · 13/10/2020 15:49

I think we'll spend all of next year in and out of lockdown. Probably at least some of 2022 as well.

Jeezoh · 13/10/2020 15:50

I agree, I think the worst will be over in terms of cases in the next 12 months but we’ll then enter a tough recovery period similar to the post world war years

Jeezoh · 13/10/2020 15:51

I mean I agree with katy1213

CakeRequired · 13/10/2020 15:52

@thesnob20

Sadly I thought that would happen at the beginning of this year. More suicides, more poverty, more homeless, more jobless. The furlough scheme was never going to be able to save all companies and it hasn't. That's probably only going to get worse and is in scotland with more restrictions. With winter coming up, bugs like covid thrive in winter. Restricting us doesn't make a difference, really I think the only time you'll see a difference is if they close schools. But they won't do that again, unlikely at least.

Racoonworld · 13/10/2020 15:53

@Leaannb wow so pessimistic! You may choose to live like this still but me and plenty of others will not be living like this in a years time. If things aren’t better by spring, the 6 months we were told, I’m just going back to normal anyway. I’m sure if enough of us feel that way we will go back to normal as if the majority aren’t complying then what’s the point?

CakeRequired · 13/10/2020 15:55

Oh and I don't think Boris will be prime minister still

No he is likely to run away once brexit is all wrapped up. Who will willingly take over after him though?

Boom45 · 13/10/2020 15:58

Johnson will shove Brexit through then quit and leave someone else to clear up his mess just like his school mate Cameron did.

thesnob20 · 13/10/2020 16:02

@Racoonworld I hope you're right. My business (weddings) cannot last another year like this - neither can my mental health!

Its not being pessimistic. Its having an informed opinion. You might be paying heavy fines for just going back to normal.anyway. Also, if the world around you does not go back to normal good luck on going back to normal . This is not going to magically disappear in 6 months. Its always going to be here. Rolling lovkdowns are our future

JustCallMeGriffin · 13/10/2020 16:02

Prediction from me is a deep recession coupled with a complete dissolution of our human rights and the environmental protections that make this 'green and pleasant land' what it is.

Boris will jettison the hot seat as soon as Brexit is done and dusted so he can't be blamed going forward for the mess he and his ilk created.

There'll be another general election but Labour and Lib Dem voters have so little faith in the parties they once supported that the Tory's will still be in power.

Trump will retain the White House and European countries will treat us like trade lepers despite being a previously close trading partner.

No one will care that covid is still rampant and killing people/ruining people's long term health because everything will be crap anyway.

As you can tell, I rarely have an optimistic outlook but I'll happily be proved wrong at the end of next year.

thesnob20 · 13/10/2020 16:03

@Leaannb

"To be honest this is go0ing to be as normal as it gets for a while"

Genuinely, what are you basing that on?

OP posts:
lljkk · 13/10/2020 16:04

If things aren’t better xxxxx, I’m just going back to normal anyway.

I don't believe statements like that. Not from 99% of people who make them, anyway.

YellowishZebra · 13/10/2020 16:04

I don't think it will be too bad.
I think every thing will be open but we still won't have crowds at sporting events or arena concerts.
I think we won't have limits on number of people we can visit but that masks everywhere inside and social distancing are here forever.
Oh and we will have a labour government because when the brexit shit hits the fan there will be a general election.
