Why is body size so important to some people?

I seen a post on fb of a sagging stomach area which had a caption along the lines of what real women look like after having a baby.

It didnt sit right with me. Some women bounce back and some women dont. Both are okay and real. Body shape and size seem to be a huge thing with some people and i find it really sad.

My mid area went back straight after the birth and i was in size 6 jeans straight away. My boobs on the other hand are wrecked but i get that other womens stay perky.

Anyone else find this obsession with weight, shape, size over the top? Theres more to life.

Black lives matter is a very important subject. Comparing it to a stomach is rather extreme you numpty.

@Beaverdam100

Oh dear, you really cannot engage your brain.

It's not about how serious the subject is, it's the comparison of how one group does not eliminate the thoughts of others.

Oh dear.

Beaverdam100 · 14/10/2020 11:39

Then use a different comparrison.

@Beaverdam100

It's a perfectly valid and appropriate comparison, that multiple others have pointed out fits perfectly into this thread.

Just because something opposes what you're saying, it doesn't mean that it is not valid

You can't just pick and choose who you debate with and what their thoughts are

As if that is your response. I'm actually laughing Confused

Beaverdam100 · 14/10/2020 11:50

It's too extreme a comparrison in my opinion.

I'm not laughing or angry. Just don't think its appropriate thats all. I get that body shape is a sore subject for some and i have enjoyed reading your comments. Thank you to you all whether you agree or disagree with me on my post. Maybe you are right and I dont think it's and issue because I sprung back (in the stomach area, nowhere else). I will never agree with the real woman posts though.

I'm out now.

Trying to use the pseudo-science of critical theory to make a point doesn't make you as lofty is you pertain to be. You can choose not to be fat, you can't choose to change your skin colour.

ScarMatty · 14/10/2020 11:51

@jdoejnr1

Well you're even more stupid than OP if you think everyone can choose not to be fat Grin

Noitjustwontdo · 14/10/2020 11:54

I hate the phrase ‘real women’, I’m not sure what it even means tbh. It seems to be a way to make bigger women feel better about themselves and I say this as someone who has yo-yo’d between size 10 and 18 since having children.

And out come the strawmen, I expected nothing less.

ScarMatty · 14/10/2020 12:02

@jdoejnr1

Not really, but please, continue reading things that aren't there.

My argument stands, talking about one group of people does not mean that others are not valid.

You'd never see an advert for cheese and go "well I don't eat cheese so I don't want it advertised"

Just because the OP is comfortable in one particular aspect of their body, it doesn't mean others are, and therefore it doesn't mean things cannot be advertised or shown that might not appropriate to the OP.

It shocks me that someone lacks the ability to see how just because something doesn't fit their way of thinking it doesn't mean that no one else ever thinks it.

The phrase your looking for is "lived experience" and it is now deemed to be as sacrosanct as solid scientific evidence. Trying to sat overweight people are as oppressed at black people is just plain offensive what ever the point is you're making.

ScarMatty · 14/10/2020 12:54

@jdoejnr1

Never mentioned the word oppression.
Never stated overweight people were as oppressed as anyone else.
Never actually mentioned anything about being overweight.

Do you have an issue with being able to read, because you're genuinely reading things that are the total opposite of what I'm writing? Bizarre.

I’m a millionaire.

I just don’t understand why people worry about money. Surely there’s more to life Wink

This was from your OP. You weren’t debating the ‘real women’ thing you’re focusing on now. You were saying that you’re ok with your body, why are others so obsessed Confused
