Need cheering up and love a wee celebration about what makes us individual.

Mine are:

  • I lived in a flat with no freezer or microwave for 5 years. Just never really bothered to buy them.
  • I sneeze whenever I drink red wine or eat dark chocolate!

If I touch something cold on one side of my body, I have to also touch it on the other to even it up.

Proudling · 11/10/2020 22:09

Bread hiccups

EmmaWithTheGreatHair · 11/10/2020 22:12

@Proudling dh gets those!

I feel weird when someone writes with a sharpie pen!

When we’ve cooked eggs, unless the dishes afterwards have been almost boiled, the smell makes me wretch and I’ve often had to wash the plates again just to get rid of the smell.

Notimeforaname · 11/10/2020 22:14

If I'm in bed and I hear a plane overhead I get the shivers.

I'm terrified of the fast cycle of the washing machine.

I love popcorn on toast ...and dipping wotsits (or any crisp) into seriously strong spreadable cheddar.

RainbowReader · 11/10/2020 22:15

Oh god I've got quite a few Grin

  • If I hear a word I like, I say it under my breath a few times, to really get a 'feel' for it. I've done it for as long as I can remember.
  • If it's raining and I'm driving, I have to check how fast other people's wipers are going to make sure I'm not being too blasė or over dramatic
  • I pull off old mascara with my fingers which is as damaging as it is satisfying
  • I can only sleep on my left side with my leg bent at 90 degree angle
  • When I'm anxious I play with my nose and kind of 'click' the fleshy part.
  • Whenever I feel nauseous, I turn the tap on and the sound of running water instantly stops it
  • Sometimes when I'm driving I'll randomly hold my hand up in a thank you sign to a car I don't know coming towards me for no reason. It makes me feel cool. (DH does this too)
  • Until I was 24 I had a genuine, pretty debilitating phobia of buttons. (Koumpounophobia). Everything I owned was zips, velcro or laces. I don't know where it came from, I had just always had it. I had hypnotherapy and am now totally cured. Biscuit - Fuck you button.

Oh I love doing this .

kathrynjanewaykicksass · 11/10/2020 22:19

I have to touch both side of door handles when I close my front door weird I know

Excitedforxmas · 11/10/2020 22:21

If I have one wet hand I have to wet the other one.

1Morewineplease · 11/10/2020 22:26

If it's raining or has recently rained, when I'm out walking, I must run my hands through any conifers that I pass.
Strangely enough I can't bear them and hate the smell of them.

phoolani · 11/10/2020 22:27

In the bath I only listen to aretha franklin.
I lived in a flat for four years without a kitchen at all and did all my ‘cooking’ using a kettle.

BestOption · 11/10/2020 22:29

I think I'm just one big 'quirk' 🤪

Before understanding how debilitating OCD can be I'd have been guilty of saying 'I'm a bit OCD'. I wish there was a name for it, because I don't know how to describe it?!

Tillygetsit · 11/10/2020 22:31

If I see an ambulance I have to hold my collar until I see a 4 legged animal. It can be a picture/signpost etc unless the ambulance lights are flashing. Then it has to be a real one.

Sweetchillichicken · 11/10/2020 22:34

The sight of cotton wool or candy floss makes me want to pull all my teeth out

I sing (badly) all the time

WonderMoon · 11/10/2020 22:37

When I get excited, I feel this pressure build up and I squeeze my hands into fists and kind I'd clench my teeth and make a funny noise - usually when I'm on my own though, I know its abit odd and would probably freak other people out. My DH, however thinks its hilarious.

Cryalot2 · 11/10/2020 22:38

When I wake up on the first day of a month.I always have to say "rabbits rabbits bunnies and white rabbits "
My late gran was from the north of England always said it as does my mum. I have been doing it over 50 years.

toffeekiwi · 11/10/2020 22:40

When I'm anxious I tap my left foot fast but only when I'm in bed.

Plussizejumpsuit · 11/10/2020 22:41

On the 1dt of the month I have to say rabbit rabbits rabbits, hares hares hares, tails tails tails three times. It's some kind of version of what my mam told me my great grandma used to do. I was very little so haven't remembered it well and can't remember when I started it but it was before adulthood.

StillCoughingandLaughing · 11/10/2020 22:42

If I have one wet hand I have to wet the other one.

When I wash my hands I have to wash my wrist joints too; otherwise I don’t feel clean.

frankie001 · 11/10/2020 22:44

If I see a funeral I have to make the sign of the cross, but I’m not religious.

Samanabanana · 11/10/2020 22:44

Sneezing makes me really angry. I can't deak with sneezing at all Confused

whatwouldyoudohere · 11/10/2020 22:45

I can’t stand metal touching metal, or glass - it hurts my teeth even imagining it . It’s a weird pain .

I can’t sit or stand anywhere that crisps have been spilt on or recently eaten near. Public transport is hell !

I hold/tense/shake my right leg and foot most of the day due to anxiety, very rarely stop .

MyNameForToday1980 · 11/10/2020 22:46

I pick my head, I'm not usually a compulsive picker - not all day every day, but I enjoy nothing more than poking around at my scalp to find a little tiny scab, or a flake of skin.

LadyLovelyLockz · 11/10/2020 22:48

I sleep with my fists clenched.
I dont like the feel of dry hair on wet shoulders in the shower so I have to get my head wet immediately.
I have trypophobia.
I hate my face being touched.

Missh07 · 11/10/2020 22:48

@excitedforxmas yes to that!! 🙌🏼

LadyLovelyLockz · 11/10/2020 22:48

I dont think any of those are particularly quirky though! I'm quite boring really.
