Need cheering up and love a wee celebration about what makes us individual.

Mine are:

 • I lived in a flat with no freezer or microwave for 5 years. Just never really bothered to buy them.
 • I sneeze whenever I drink red wine or eat dark chocolate!

@WonderMoon - Your post just made me run through what I do and it is exactly the same as you! Never thought about it being quirky as such before!

EyeDrops · 11/10/2020 22:50

@RainbowReader I have that phobia! Developed in my teens and got progressively worse. I don't own any clothes with buttons on, except I can cope with jeans just about. People think I'm so weird.

Light makes me sneeze.

When I'm walking, my steps have to balance over dark/light things. Like paving stones or steps that are varying shades - I can't cope if my right foot is all darks and my left foot all lights, etc. I have to make sure both feet are getting the 'same'.

Toilenstripes · 11/10/2020 22:54

I sing and make up songs all day
I play with my hair constantly

bathtimebubblebath · 11/10/2020 22:55

@EyeDrops I have to do the same with even steps. Otherwise one foot feels odd.

@RainbowReader I also check on other drivers windscreen wiper speeds. I'll often have them on too slowly because I'm worried other drives will think I'm overly concerned about the rain. It makes no sense I know...

Whatwouldnanado · 11/10/2020 22:56

I can't bear to touch velvet/ velour fabrics. Even thinking about it, like I am now, brings me out in goose pimples all over.

bathtimebubblebath · 11/10/2020 22:56

Oh and I also feel a shooting pain in my pelvis when someone else hurts themselves. Watching You've Bren Framed is agony for me!

Clevererthanyou · 11/10/2020 22:57

If I go to my local town or city, I do a circuit of the shops there in a certain order 🙈 It’s a very sensible system based on not boring to death anyone who may be with me.
I also find it very stressful when plans change at the last minute and I’ve never known why 😂
People dropping hints gives me the fear because I don’t understand what it is they actually want and quite often I’ll walk away and not do the thing they wanted in the first place! Eg, colleague says “oh I’ll have a cuppa if anyone is making one” but I don’t drink coffee after 3 so I say ok and off I go. I don’t make the tea for them and they get annoyed that I haven’t 🤨 Oh to be someone else for five minutes.

okilydokily · 11/10/2020 22:57

I tap out some words and phrases on my fingers, syllable by syllable, starting with my left pinky then moving to left ring finger, left middle finger, left index finger, left thumb, then it's the right hand, thumb to pinky. If I do all ten fingers and the phrase hasn't finished yet, I tap backwards from right hand to left. I have to finish on the left thumb though. If the particular phrase I'm tapping is less than 19 syllables I have to go back and start the tapping again, but I start a bit further along and do it by trial and error until I work out which finger to start on so that I finish the phrase on my left thumb.

Thelnebriati · 11/10/2020 22:59

I don't always have a sudden sneezing fit but if I do its probably 10pm.

JustGetThroughTheDay · 11/10/2020 22:59
@Proudling dh gets those!

I feel weird when someone writes with a sharpie pen!

When we’ve cooked eggs, unless the dishes afterwards have been almost boiled, the smell makes me wretch and I’ve often had to wash the plates again just to get rid of the smell.
As soon as I've finished eating any type of cooked egg I have to clean everything away because the smell and look of coke cooked egg makes me feel sick.

AintPageantMaterial · 11/10/2020 23:06

I have to turn the radio and the heater off in the car in order to reverse.

TheGirlWithAPrince · 11/10/2020 23:06

Sometimes I try not to stand on the cracks of pavements. I have to stand/walk exactly in the square.

ImWorriedAboutThis · 11/10/2020 23:07

This is me, except it’s a runny nose, 10pm every night without fail.

I also can’t have just one hand wet, I have to wet the other one too.

I have to have my food on my plate in a certain way to eat, so meat on the right side of the plate and rice/potatoes on the left. Veg at the top.

Hohohole · 11/10/2020 23:11

I shave my legs with my eyes closed. Probably not the best idea but it's been going on too long, I can't help it now.

MollysMummy2010 · 11/10/2020 23:15

Can’t sleep unless my little toe is tucked over the toe next to it
Can’t sit down unless my curtains are properly drawn so meet in the actual middle

Kote · 11/10/2020 23:18

I can't stand still whilst brushing my teeth, I have to walk around the house

FreezerBird · 11/10/2020 23:20

Proudling

Bread hiccups

Oh, me too!

Also can't wear odd socks or asymmetric hems. Makes me feel all unbalanced.

Ilovelblue · 11/10/2020 23:22

@Cryalot2

When I wake up on the first day of a month.I always have to say "rabbits rabbits bunnies and white rabbits " My late gran was from the north of England always said it as does my mum. I have been doing it over 50 years.
I'm a northerner and say "White rabbit, white rabbit, bring me good luck" on the first of the month.
Changedmyname26 · 11/10/2020 23:22

I feel awkward if I wear something new and someone asks if it's new, I feel genuine embarrassment to say that it's new. With shoes, I will wear them at home and on the school run and running errands until they don't look brand new, then when they make their real debut and someone asks if they're new, I can say 'oh I've had them a while, I just don't wear them much' WHY AM I LIKE THIS?!

yetmorecrap · 11/10/2020 23:24

I can’t drink any dark spirit without hiccuping instantly - some red wine too. I too like picking off mascara

Overseasmom100 · 11/10/2020 23:24

If Ive not had enough sleep I get arm ache!!

AestheticWitch · 11/10/2020 23:27

I think this is called mirror touch synthesia, I have it too, usually in my legs. It is really hard to watch You've been Framed, I agree! Stranger Things has also been agony for me. One of my daughter's has it, the other doesn't. The plus side is I really benefit from ASMR where people are having nice things done, eg watching somebody having their hair brushed I feel the pleasure too.
JustanotherTuesday · 11/10/2020 23:29

I also don't like buttons, Poppy Delevingne apparently suffers with that phobia and so did Steve Jobs.
The colour orange makes me feel sick.

EyeDrops · 11/10/2020 23:32

@kote Me too! I pace round in little circles or do stupid little dance steps. Cannot just stand still.

Cakeismyhero · 11/10/2020 23:32

If I stick my finger in my belly button I instantly need to pee Grin
