Standing in massive queues for over an hour to buy fancy cakes is just ridiculous ?

OP posts:
grapewine · 10/10/2020 23:19

I mean, there is so little enjoyment right now with this fucking virus around that I'd consider standing in line for a cake. Mind your own business.

LaMarschallin · 10/10/2020 23:19

Where is this three-mile long queue for fancy cakes?
I just Googled and found nothing.

OP, are you sure you didn't dream this?

There's a thread going for odd dreams.

Sparklesocks · 10/10/2020 23:19

@veraismyspiritanimal

Loitering in large groups is not encouraged. I couldn't have 7 people in my large garden and there would be far more space between each person than there was in a three mile queue to get non essential items Ridiculous
Are they queuing in clusters of 7 then?
WorraLiberty · 10/10/2020 23:20

OMG moaning about 'non essential items' on Mumsnet, takes me right back to the start of lockdown 🤣🤣

Ahh the memories...

Disappointedkoala · 10/10/2020 23:21

Is it chocolate cake? I'd queue for a long time for a really excellent chocolate cake.

Cake is a Goddamn essential item. Marie Antoinette knew it, the tax office knew it. Cake is life.
StanfordPines · 10/10/2020 23:23

What people queuing for what cake?

veraismyspiritanimal · 10/10/2020 23:24

That's the thing nobody would go and stand in a queue for hours for medicine. They would go back when it was safer

OP posts:
Haenow · 10/10/2020 23:24

Entirely depends on the type of chocolate. It’s unreasonable to queue for carrot cake or fruit cake. Most other cakes are fair game.

Haenow · 10/10/2020 23:25

^^ cake not chocolate!

grapewine · 10/10/2020 23:25

Cake is life - truth right here!

Untrue. I’ve waited at the hospital pharmacy for ages recently.
Sitt · 10/10/2020 23:25

They would queue for medicine if it was first come first served and stocks were limited. Which is often the case with good cake.

Xiaoxiong · 10/10/2020 23:25

Is this a TAAT? Where is this queue for cake and how can I join in

You can get prescriptions delivered for free...
ItsGoingTibiaK · 10/10/2020 23:28

Did they run out of fancy cake before you got to type front of the three-mile queue, OP?

ItsGoingTibiaK · 10/10/2020 23:28

*the front

whydoicomehere · 10/10/2020 23:28

No answer about social distancing then?

MaxNormal · 10/10/2020 23:29

@Haenow you are so wrong. A really good carrot cake is a thing of true magnificence.

Spiderbaby8 · 10/10/2020 23:33

Now I want cake Cake

Dahlietta · 10/10/2020 23:36

I wouldn’t queue for an hour for cake, but I don’t really see how it’s a high risk activity.

Feelingconfused2020 · 10/10/2020 23:36

Standing in a queue as long as one you'd see for Alton towers for fecking cake? I would rather have a cake than any ride at AT

nobody would go and stand in a queue for hours for medicine at the start of lockdown this is what many of us had to do to get our medication actually.

Stop claiming everybody who leaves the house for no essential.reasons is responsible for the pandemic. We are allowed to buy and eat cake, we are allowed to join queues, we are even allowed to enjoy a non essential item.

If you don't want the came don't join the queue but I don't think anyone's buying the idea that came purchasers are to blame for the 2nd wave.

Yep. Those people boasting about how they didn't need to buy milk more than once a week because they used to freeze it in dinky little milk cubes and defrost them one at a time whenever they fancied a cuppa.

No doubt these were the same people whining about 'hoarders' only a few weeks previously.

Feelingconfused2020 · 10/10/2020 23:37

*came= cake

sparklefarts · 10/10/2020 23:37

OP why are you ignoring the questions of where this was? Where was there a three mile queue for cake?

Also, are you drunk?
