The name ‘Gabriella‘..immediate thoughts?

Doesn’t have to be one of the adjectives above..obviously

I went to school with a gabby and was always really jealous of her cool name.

I think it’s lovely. Not tacky at all, or boring (I’m called claire😂😂, now that’s boring).

@CandyLeBonBon

If you like a name, why ask random strangers to label it?

I like Gabriella, but think it only really works if you have a short surname, ie one or two syllables.

With a longer surname, it can be a bit of a mouthful imo. Gabriella Jones is great, but Gabriella Farquharson would be too much.

zingally · 10/10/2020 12:17

It's fine, but wouldn't be for me. I'm notorious for shortening names, so a Gabriella would very quickly become a Gabs, and that's not attractive.

Do you do it with the other person’s permission? I hope so, as it’s very rude otherwise and a personal bug bear of mine. My name is Natasha not “tache” which I can’t stand and people get arsey when I say, “sorry, but my name is Natasha not tache”. I’m not a hairy object on someone’s face!
WonderMoon · 10/10/2020 12:23

I like Gabriella, it sounds pretty but strong. I dislike Gabby or Gabs though for a nickname, they sound harsh.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 10/10/2020 12:24

I love it

PriceEmUp · 10/10/2020 12:38

High school musical, annoying, prissy.

We’re the first words that came to mind 💀 sorry!

SmudgeButt · 10/10/2020 12:39

I hate any name that is a diminutive. Why would anyone want to be a lesser Gabriel?

Alicenwonderland · 10/10/2020 13:21

It's a beautiful name. I honestly would never ask the opinions of others over your name choice. I called my eldest two unusual names before it was popular (They are 19 and 16 now). My Mum was horrified by my choices and a few people tried to get me to change my mind. A few years later my Mum admitted she loved the names now! Both my boys also really like their names and how unique they are so it was the right choice.

What an array of mixed opinions 😂

Nice if you’re Italian etc, not sure it suits in England - depending on the accent of the person calling the name! Grin

Kanaloa · 10/10/2020 21:23

It’s a fine name, not a personal favourite with me because I knew a really mean one but nothing wrong with it as such. I really don’t like Gabby/Gabs though.

Notthetoothfairy · 10/10/2020 22:21

Not keen, I also think it’s a bit naff and harsh sounding.

Thehop · 10/10/2020 22:23

I like it, but really don’t like “gobby gabby” which is what both the ones I’ve known got.

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 10/10/2020 22:31

I love it

Hi Angelina82. Sorry I haven't replied to your question about my granddaughter's name. She really suits Bella. Her parents called her Gabriella as it's a family name on her dad's side of the family. I like Gabriella too though.
