Just found out that Billie Piper doesn't share social/political views as her ex H

I just assumed that she shared similar views as that silly man. I am not sure what attracted her to him; she seems pretty level headed and clued up.

I googled her as I saw a movie featuring her and I wanted to watch it but wouldn't have watched it if she was anything like that Lawrence/Laurence, or whatever he's called. I really dislike the man and his face, and unfairly, I had lumbered Bilie with him despite them being separated.

But I can't imagine marrying and having kids with someone who is on a completely different wavelength on such important issues.

I guess there's no aibu but had me reflect if he was always like this/only become like what he is after the divorce.

I would hate to parent with someone with views like him. I would be worried what he's teaching my children all types of intolerance. Plus he's just not very bright.

And now I am xposting and so it goes on!

Roussette · 04/10/2020 22:51

There are posters here who swear blind that Donald Trump isn't the slightest bit racist

OMG please not.
That is one step too far.

jakeyboy1 · 04/10/2020 22:53

I always thought him and Billie were a strange pairing but then so was her and Chris but they remain friends. I do wonder how much of her husband in I Hate Susie is based on him!
Occasionally he comes out with something pretty succinct but he's definitely on a spiral into something - not quite sure what.
I did like him in White Lines, never watched Lewis. Such a brilliant cast in White Lines it's a shame it co-incided with him losing the plot...

chomalungma · 04/10/2020 22:55

I wonder what his views on women are?

I think it's unfair to lump Fox in with the likes of Hopkins. He's a right wing guy so obviously that's not going to be for everyone, but I don't see him being hateful about anyone at all. He spoke his mind, suffered for it, and is now making the best of it, probably to provide for his kids. Of course people won't take him seriously because he's not a politician, but it's unnecessary to heap such nastiness on him.

Stripesnomore · 04/10/2020 23:00

It is concerning that someone thought this set of ideas was worthy of five million pounds.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 23:00

Yuk.

Just looked at his twitter feed. He's goading people to call him racist.

Like it's a badge of honour.
Oh and he's calling people paedophiles. Anyone and everyone.

I think he's losing it actually

Stripesnomore · 04/10/2020 23:01

If he’s forming a political party he is a politician.

I expect there is more evidence in his feed and history to make a racist claim stick than there is in him calling other paedophiles.

Elon Musk got sued for calling someone a paedophile

Roussette · 04/10/2020 23:09

Ahhhh but he's deleted his history prior to 31st August.

I cannot see him leading some crackpot Party after calling anyone who disagrees with him a paedophile

user1471565182 · 04/10/2020 23:09

I see hes now cancelling Sainsbos. Oh hang on we're not allowed to say cancelling when its the racist ones doing it, especially the tabloid press who've been at it for decades.

That Presidential SUV is not only bulletproof, but hermetically sealed against chemical attack. The risk of COVID19 transmission inside is as high as it gets outside of medical procedures. The irresponsibility is astounding. My thoughts are with the Secret Service forced to play.

Roussette · 04/10/2020 23:11

Ooops wrong thread!

Aridane · 04/10/2020 23:14

To be fair the person who called Fox a racist and was called a peadophile (it seems that Fox was responding to an unevidenced jibe with one in return)

To be fair, FOX’s racism is well evidenced

JellyFishSquish · 04/10/2020 23:14

In Hitler's Germany, people who thought differently were executed

Important to point out that, as Glinner reminds us, people were not executed. They were not offered promotions, if they did not join the party.

Does this sound familiar? If people do not speak out against oppression today, they keep their jobs. What follows?

Here's footage of him sat in the car.

Reckless stupid behaviour. How can this be justified. He's obviously a bit bored and the telly isn't big enough or something, so he needs to see his adoring followers.
This really is N Korea stuff

Roussette · 04/10/2020 23:18

OMG I've done it again.
Sorry folks
Better retire now!

user1471565182 · 04/10/2020 23:20

froggygoneacourting I genuinely once played a video of Tommy Robinson calling somebody a 'P*ki' to somebody and he said 'I dont think thats racist'.

chomalungma · 04/10/2020 23:23

It's ironic that the people speaking out are trying to ensure that people who usually struggle to get the jobs in the first place have more opportunities

And that some people seem to be upset that structural racism, sexism - and yes, classism, is even being discussed - the very same issues that stop people having the opportunities others have.

Fox seems to be one of those people.
@Fromage (sorry, quote feature not working for some reason)

I have lately been put off the gurnings and gaspings and am-drammery of eddie redmayne and daniel radcliffe. Not yet come across something with either if them in I would otherwise watch though.

Fair enough if you already don’t like that particular actor’s acting style. But the OP said she’d spotted a movie she fancied watching, but instead of just watching it decided to google the actor to find out their political views before she would watch it.

(I know my post has nothing to do with actual LF or BP I just found it an odd thing to do- does the OP research actors in any film she’s going to watch to find out whether she agrees/disagrees with their personal views?)
Obviously Yes! Lots of people won't watch movies if the actors turn out to be fascist/tossers etc. Take John Wayne or Mel Gibson after his little anti-Semitic /racist rant... to name a few.

Thats exactly why the studios used to try to shield their stars so we never knew what wankers they really were!

Its always the same with blokes like Fox, as soon as they're forced off their little entitled pedestals they get enraged and hateful. He's nothing more than a wound collector & if he was working class he'd be in the bin already but far too many tolerate & justify his vileness because he's so called 'upper class'..

workhomesleeprepeat · 05/10/2020 00:25

If Billie Piper is on Twitter she must cringe so hard every time his name trends!

He is Richard Ayoade’s brother in law too. I imagine he cringes a lot haha.

I think Fox is probably one of those people who now profits from his views and enjoys the attention that whipping up tension brings. I think when some people fall down this kind of rabbit hole they have so many
people on social media telling them they are great so they just get high on their own ego and controversy.

Elsewyre · 05/10/2020 00:42

@jessstan1

I've obviously missed something because had no idea Laurence Fox had racist views - and can hardly credit it. I also think he is quite attractive and always has been. I was gutted when he and the gorgeous Billie P split.
He doesnt.

He responded to somone making a negarive prejudiced point of his race.

Lavanderrose · 05/10/2020 00:47

He’s utterly vile. Feel very sorry for Billie and if I were in his shoes I’d be extremely worried about what views he’d be preaching to the children.

I dislike Meghan Markle intensely. Nothing to do with her skin colour but just the fact that she is a massive manipulator who went out of her way to cause trouble within the Royal Family (not that i am a huge royalist either) She would have got on very well with her late mother-in -law as they had a lot in common. Both terrible trouble makers

What has your hate of Meghan Markle got to do with this thread?

Not to the point, how do you know she's a master manipulator? And Diana for that matter?

Sounds like you're a bit over invested and a little unhinged. Perhaps have a cup of tea and calm down. And maybe get a hobby that doesn't involve curtain twitching the royal family?

Goosefoot · 05/10/2020 01:18

@Ablackrussian

So who decides what views are wrong and disgusting?

Usually the targeted group that they are aiming their bile at?

It stands to reason that most white people aren't fazed by what he says. That's because it doesn't affect them. You then have have white people who have empathy, so they speak out about it.

It's hardly rocket science.

The people who are generally considered to have woke opinions are a lot more likely to be white, university educated, and middle class, actually. It seems like it shouldn't be shocking, but apparently many don't realise that actually, members of minority communities don't have a unified view of many of these questions either - not all like BHM, many don't support BLM, or affirmative action, or believe in white privilege. They certainly don't all like the idea of a safe space for BAME employees in a workplace.

And yet according to some of these white university educated middle class people, even asking questions about this stuff is simply racist.
