To want a warm pud every night?

It's cold, and miserable and I'm craving custard and a sweet-sweet stodgy dessert after every evening meal.

Please tell me I'm not the only one? Has anyone found a healthy-ish alternative that'd hit the spot, before I turn into a pudding.

Honestly @Candyflosscookie what's wrong with you stooping so low that you had a comment deleted in a thread about puddings, your first comment to Mooballs was bad enough, ffs lighten up.

@RepeatSwan

How did a post get deleted on a thread about puddings!?

My mum was very keen on Elmlea. Is it the cream equivalent of marg? Or is it just uht?

No idea? I wondered too.

No it’s not UHT I don’t think, it’s weird manufactured cream like substance.

The deleted post told mooballs to F off Grin

I want pudding too. Though I made myself feel sick earlier eating Percy pigs so I probably shouldn’t.

FelicityBob · 05/10/2020 16:36

@Mooballs

I don't know how anyone fits a dessert in unless you have a v small main course?
It’s very easy!
TheGhostofGlumy · 05/10/2020 16:39

Emergency pudding recipe:
3tbsp self raising flour
3 tbsp caster sugar
2 tbsp ground almonds
2 tbsp cooking oil
3 tbsp milk
1/4 tsp almond extract
Mix up in a mug, microwave for 1 minute so it's still nice and gooey, then top with jam.
Obviously not as good as a proper pudding, but it hits the spot I find.

After reading this thread, I will need to have
Apple crumble and custard tonight

If I’m serving it warm I skip the icing.

I didn't even want puds until I saw this!!

2 tins of black cherries + eggs, milk, flour and sugar, make a delish and v easy clafoutis. I try to keep tins of cherries for the purpose but too often end up eating them out of the tin when prowling around the kitchen in the evening looking for ‘something nice’. 🐷

Lately with a lot of apples to use up, I’ve made a couple of Eve’s puddings (sliced apples with sponge cake mix on top) easy and also delish with custard.

Bread and butter pudding with ice cream is a nice easy one, too, when the craving gets to you.

This has been a trip down memory lane. I'm thinking about all the lovely puds my mother used to make, including suet puddings which were wrapped in a cloth and steamed like jam roll-poly and spotted dick and then served with custard. I dread to think how many calories a portion contained!

Mmmm, what I wouldn't do for Bread and Butter pudding wouldn't fill the back of a postage stamp!

The weather is due to be horrible here tomorrow. Cold, windy and lots of rain. All 3 of us work outside so I have planned braised steak and carrots with mash and mashed turnip followed by chocolate sponge and pink custard.

VestaTilley · 05/10/2020 22:18

@Mooballs I’m a size 10. It’s perfectly possible to be slim and enjoy proper British puddings on a regular basis. And my only exercise is pushing DS in the pram uphill to nursery.

Tillygetsit · 05/10/2020 23:18

I knock up a bit of sponge batter, put a dollop of jam, lemon curd, marmalade or whatever in the bottom of a glass bowl, cover with sponge mix and microwave. It comes out like sponge pudding and takes 10 mins tops to make and cook.

notacooldad · 05/10/2020 23:22

YABU for using the word "pud"
No she isn't.
A perfectly good abbreviation!

YellowBeryl1 · 05/10/2020 23:58

Nothing hits the spot like a sticky toffee pudding 😋
