To want a warm pud every night?

It's cold, and miserable and I'm craving custard and a sweet-sweet stodgy dessert after every evening meal.

Please tell me I'm not the only one? Has anyone found a healthy-ish alternative that'd hit the spot, before I turn into a pudding.

Definitely not every night but almost always on Sunday. This evening it is Frangipane tart, just warm with whipped cream

That reminds me of a wonderful sketch by the late Victoria Wood where she described in great detail a person sitting opposite her on the train sucking the middle from a Lyons apple pie!

I have recently discovered roasted pears. Peal and cut into chunks, in a baking tin with spoonful of sugar, cinnamon and ginger. Shake and bake at 180 for 15-40 minutes (depends on ripeness of pears). DC like them with chopped nuts and custard. I prefer a bit of ice cream. Quicker than a crumble for dire emergencies.

I’m definitely making a pudding today. I have a load of eating apples and tinned peaches. And a carton of custard. A crumble it is then.

I like stewed fruit, topped with a dry packet cake mix. Put dollops of butter on top and bake in the oven. It sucks the liquid out of the fruit and the melted butter and goes like a cross between cake and crumble.

Top with cream.

In an emergency, use tinned cherry pie filling instead of stewed fruit.

by being healthy and sticking to reasonable portions and have a bit of everything?

Only way not to put on weight if you ask me. Depriving yourself is weird and unhealthy.

I use tinned peaches with half the juice, eating apples & some frozen raspberries- this is the house favourite (I prefer just apples)

My in laws gave us loads of apples and plums from their trees so we just had to make a crumble. That only used half of them so another crumble beckons I think, maybe in a few weeks else I’ll be the size of a house.

We always had pudding after a Sunday roast growing up, crumble, rice pudding, queen of puddings, strudel or those tinned syrup sponges 🤤 Autumn always makes me crave them.

We only have proper pudding on Sundays. Recent puds (I like the word even if others don't) have been apple and pear crumble with custard, pineapple upsidedown cake, cherry bakewell sponge, lemon sponge pudding, Mexican rice pudding with bonfire toffee (Rick Stein recipe), strawberry meringue roulade á la Mary Berry (that was when it was warmer), and tarte tatin with whipped cream. After reading this thread, I'm thinking of doing a ginger pudding today :)

Mug cakes could be something to consider, you can make a lovely jam or syrup sponge in a few minutes and it's a great portion size for one person.
