To want a warm pud every night?

It's cold, and miserable and I'm craving custard and a sweet-sweet stodgy dessert after every evening meal.

Please tell me I'm not the only one? Has anyone found a healthy-ish alternative that'd hit the spot, before I turn into a pudding.

@CodenameVillanelle

What about stewed fruit with natural Yoghurt?
Nope. It’s not the same as sticky toffee pudding and custard although I’d give stewed fruit crumble and custard a go 😃
Enko · 04/10/2020 16:06

Not a huge fan of hot desserts so not one for me

RaisinsRuinEverything · 04/10/2020 16:11

The worst ''pudding'' of all..... Cheese and biscuits and semolina or tapioca.
You’re forgetting fruit salad! That’s pretty grim too! Grin
YANBU OP!

adriennewillfly · 04/10/2020 16:15

I'm craving warm carrot halwa with ice cream.

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 16:17

Hmm maybe apple crumble.but with granola thin sprinkle instead of crumble top.

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 16:19

I love cheese and biscuits! Wensleydale with apricot or brie and cranberry. I can eat whole camembert in a night if warm in oven!

PeachesTheFlamingo · 04/10/2020 16:20

YANBU!

I am now craving treacle sponge pudding and custard.. then apple crumble and custard for dessert 🤣

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 16:25

I need go to shop now. 🤣 But partner has taken my GTI to gym so would.be driving the truck which scary when car park busy! 😬

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 16:26

Fit lots of puddings in the pick up though. 🤣

FurrySlipperBoots · 04/10/2020 16:29

For a healthy warm dessert you could 'bake' an apple in the microwave, and sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on top? Also a healthier alternative to sponge pudding or crumble would be a bowl of porridge made with juice or smoothie instead of milk too, again, only takes a minute in the microwave, it's warming, filling and nutritious without being a calorie bomb.

movingonup20 · 04/10/2020 16:30

Have sticky toffee pudding currently steaming!

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 16:32

Porridge with choc protein powder is nice but not too bad. Very low sugsr in the protein shake but still taste chocolaty.

AfterSchoolWorry · 04/10/2020 16:33

@Brefugee

YABU for using the word "pud" - otherwise I'm with you. Currently craving steamed ginger pudding and custard
Thought it was just me, 'warm pud'....🤢🤮

Bad words together.

NW2SW · 04/10/2020 16:36

@AfterSchoolWorry it's important that's it's moist too, but I feared I'd be kicked off MN with that as a opener Grin

I made a lemon meringue pie this week, that was a welcome blast from the past.

AngelicInnocent · 04/10/2020 16:49

A not too unhealthy pudding is pancakes made small and fat, layered in an ovenproof dish with stewed fruit between the layers. Then lid on and heat in the oven.

Not too unhealthy unless you add fresh cream or custard like me Smile

Violetroselily · 04/10/2020 16:50

Growing up we'd have a homemade dessert after our Sunday roast.

Apple crumble, apple pie, apple cobbler, syrup sponge, jam roly poly, jam sponge, pineapple upside down cake, treacle sponge, ginger sponge

I could devour one every night now if I had the opportunity

averylongtimeago · 04/10/2020 17:07

@AnneLovesGilbert you are going to have to share the ginger cake recipe!
Please

averylongtimeago · 04/10/2020 17:08

Just seen you have already posted a link to the ginger cake 🍰 Thankyou!

AnneLovesGilbert · 04/10/2020 17:13

Most welcome! It sinks. Made it several times and it always sinks, but isn’t worse for that.

😂😂😂 you're right!

GrouchyKiwi · 04/10/2020 17:17

@diddl

Well I wasn't!

Am thinking now though-tinned peaches any good for a crumble?

I'm not a custard person but happen to have some double cream...

I like to make a fruit sponge with tinned peaches. So good with ice cream or proper custard.
MsTSwift · 04/10/2020 17:19

Treacle tart (home made) with custard is hard to beat

Waitrose profiteroles tonight. Weekends only to avoid fatness

NW2SW · 04/10/2020 17:26

PSA: M&S single serve Eves Pudding has custard built in. A modern miracle! Didn't trust myself with a whole pot.

I know it's not homemade but I needed speedy sustenance for pear stewing. Grin

Fancy pants apple pie in the oven, with posh custard for pudding.

(Although what I really wanted was a pineapple upside down cake with birds custard)
