To want a warm pud every night?

It's cold, and miserable and I'm craving custard and a sweet-sweet stodgy dessert after every evening meal.

Please tell me I'm not the only one? Has anyone found a healthy-ish alternative that'd hit the spot, before I turn into a pudding.

I really fancy syrup sponge and custard

mogtheexcellent · 04/10/2020 13:42

I just stewed a load of bramleys so I can have with custard tonight. We actually have a pudding cupboard in the kitchen heaving with custard and rice puddingy stuff Blush. DH and I work outdoors so we need hot food in the evening Grin.

@MrsCrosbyNRTB

Another one we do is baked rice pudding with tinned peaches in juice. Minimal sugar again but sooooo lovely
THIS sounds amazing. Healthy rice pudding, this is a thing?

I have lots of pears atm, and very low motivation but maybe I could stew them?

@CodenameVillanelle

What about stewed fruit with natural Yoghurt?
You 'avin a laugh mate?
TwentyViginti · 04/10/2020 13:51

A PUDDING CUPBOARD.

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 04/10/2020 13:52

@NW2SW stewed pears with ginger or vanilla is lush. You don’t need any extra sugar

Destinysdaughter · 04/10/2020 13:52

Waitrose sticky toffee pudding is the best!

TazMac · 04/10/2020 13:54

Ha ha, it’s the weather and nights drawing in. I feel exactly the same.

Sexnotgender · 04/10/2020 13:54

I think a hot pudding after dinner is too much food really every night. However I’m totally on board with not having dinner and having pudding instead. Preferably with wine.

Cocklepops · 04/10/2020 13:55

Now I’m pondering which fruit infused gin to make for autumn/winter. Rhubarb sounds good.

NW2SW · 04/10/2020 14:01

@MrsCrosbyNRTB just fresh ginger?

YABU for using the word "pud" - otherwise I'm with you. Currently craving steamed ginger pudding and custard

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 04/10/2020 14:05

Every week we get the frozen strudel from Aldi and have it with fresh custard. It's an absolute bargain at 75p !

Jk987 · 04/10/2020 14:06

Muller Rice apple or strawberry, warmed up in the microwave.

Lockheart · 04/10/2020 14:07

What @Brefugee said.

'Pud' is an awful word.

Wishimaywishimight · 04/10/2020 14:07

Ginger cake and custard - bliss!

HollywoodHandshake · 04/10/2020 14:07

cooked apples with a bit of salted caramel in the oven are a big favourite, or freshly made pancakes at the weekend for diner (it's all about the filing).

There's nothing remotely unhealthy in having a warm pud every night if you stick to a reasonable portion and a good variety during the day! Some people might feel virtuous because they deprive themselves from puddings, but wolf a giant portion of beautiful home-made lasagna full of cheese and calories.
I have soup and a pudding, thank you.

Parkandride · 04/10/2020 14:08

God some type of warm ginger pudding sounds amazing

I smugly prepped all my home grown apples and froze them this year so hopefully I just need to add them to a dish with crumble topping for emergency pudding needs

chochaholic79 · 04/10/2020 14:09

I make a microwave chocolate mug cake. Is warm and chocolatey. I put Nutella on mine. But I'm sure you could do similar with custard.

NW2SW · 04/10/2020 14:09

@Brefugee @Lockheart BiscuitGrin

My nickname for my cat is also pud/pudding so that may not help my current fixation.

That frozen strudel with the custard is amazing!

Chottie · 04/10/2020 14:13

I think I need to make a steamed sponge syrup pudding (my mum's recipe) it definitely sticks to the ribs :) (and the hips....... :( )

lojoko · 04/10/2020 14:19

rice pudding with lemon curd
ginger cake with custard
jam roly poly

Oh there's nothing nicer!

oakleaffy · 04/10/2020 14:19

School Dinners! Magnificent sponges with jam and desiccated coconut on top and good creamy custard.

Dinner ladies were ace pudding makers.

Chocolate custard and chocolate sponge...Heavenly.
The worst ''pudding'' of all..... Cheese and biscuits and semolina or tapioca.
