To want a warm pud every night?

It's cold, and miserable and I'm craving custard and a sweet-sweet stodgy dessert after every evening meal.

Please tell me I'm not the only one? Has anyone found a healthy-ish alternative that'd hit the spot, before I turn into a pudding.

I’ve eschewed hot and hearty for cold and tart and made a fridge cake.

DH just asked when we’re having it as he’ll heat up some custard. You fucking what now?

Lovelydovey · 04/10/2020 17:57

Stewed fruit, with a touch of cream, custard or yogurt, really isn’t too bad a pud.

RepeatSwan · 04/10/2020 17:59

@CodenameVillanelle

What about stewed fruit with natural Yoghurt?
Yes we have this a lot, I use frozen fruit without sugar. And today we had baked apples.

But we've been pretty heavy on comfort puddings right through lockdown, assume it's just all the upset!

I live a warm pudding too but when trying to lose weight I go for a low calorie hot chocolate instead. Warm and sweet and still quite filling.

amieejust · 04/10/2020 18:02

I have an Aldi Sticky Chocolate Pudding in the fridge which I will go and heat up soon...perfect autumn Sunday evening food Grin

AriesTheRam · 04/10/2020 18:02

On Thursday we had Tesco apple and salted caramel tart and a 1kg carton of custard 😋

Dogsaresomucheasier · 04/10/2020 18:02

Mmmm
Beef stew followed by syrup sponge here tonight. Only pudding this week though, I feel justified!

Hyperfish101 · 04/10/2020 18:05

Not read all of this but maaaan I want a pudding now.

Whathappenedtothelego · 04/10/2020 18:15

We are definitely into hot pudding season, it's our Sunday night routine to help everyone sleep well ready for the week ahead.
At least, that's what my grandmother used to say.

We are having a peach cobbler made from tinned peaches.

Kohlx · 04/10/2020 18:16

Uh oh. Just read this and I've now sent my husband to the shop for pudding and custard Grin

NW2SW · 04/10/2020 18:29

I would totally volunteer for charity bath sits if I could replace the beans with custard.

Is not even all. Eating tendrils houmous first!

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 19:10

The crisps and houmous I mean.

I have a huge shopping bag full of apples to use up...DH just made a big pot of stewed apple for dessert with custard mmmm.
I just broke my vow not to eat Christmas stuff early and bought salted caramel mince pies to have with cream too.

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 19:18

Saw first xmas jumper today. I think means I can eat the mince pies now. 🤔

ILiveInSalemsLot · 04/10/2020 19:38

We’re just waiting for our Apple, peach and ginger crumble to finish baking.
Sunday treat to chase away those feelings of Monday blues.

Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons · 04/10/2020 19:43

Lovely crumble for dinner tonight Grin

Bluewavescrashing · 04/10/2020 19:44

We had apple pie and double cream tonight 😋

KetoPenguin · 04/10/2020 19:47

Made a crumble because of this thread dh was pleased as he has been doing a 12 hour shift in a chilled warehouse.

EsterOdesavitch · 04/10/2020 19:47

Mmm, DH and I are both a little heavy (we're chubbers) but we do love a pudding - we try to be lean all week with chicken or fish and veg, limited potatoes or rice and only banana and yogurt with a drizzle of honey I put half the bottle in mine when he's not looking for dessert.

But at the weekends it all goes to shit and we eat the world, hence we're still fat.

How do I make a relatively healthy, low sugar crumble topping for stewed or baked fruit? My late DM had a good recipe with oats but I can't remember how she did it? I'm not a natural baker/cook...can somebody help me!

EsterOdesavitch · 04/10/2020 19:52

Sorry I know some have commented on it already with ingredients, but I need a little more idea of quantities and ratios, how much butter to add etc - a natural baker would know by eye but I really don't!

Sorry DM, she'll be out there rolling her eyes at how crap I am.

PourMeAGlassOfMilk · 04/10/2020 19:57

Full on creamy baked rice pud with homemade blackberry jam after our roast dinner today. Nothing quite like it. 😋

VestaTilley · 04/10/2020 20:25

YANBU; though I limit us to just one every Sunday after our roast in autumn and winter, else we’d be huge.

I do things like steamed syrup sponge, apple crumble, rhubarb crumble, Eve’s pudding, jam roly poly etc.
