WhentheDealGoesDown1 · 04/10/2020 12:38

No, he looks like he uses brylcreem

Cam77 · 04/10/2020 12:39

@Jojobar
His mum was a nurse and dad toolmaker. We didn’t use to call that “upper middle class”. He got into a good grammar as he aced his 11+ thanks to being smart.

“Upper middle class” what are you on about!? You know it’s not about how you speak right?

Hingeandbracket · 04/10/2020 12:39

FFS

cakelover75 · 04/10/2020 12:44

Yes!!! Deffo would Grin

IdkickJilliansass · 04/10/2020 12:45

No, he used to be my boss as well.

DimityandDeNimes · 04/10/2020 12:46

@Jojobar

It doesn't matter what class he is or what his background is per se. But being disingenuous about it makes him (more) unattractive and also his lack of working class cred means from a political POV he's yet another unelectable Labour leader.
When has he been disingenuous? I think he will become PM at the next general election.

It would be interesting to see him take on a competent opponent. The Daily Mail has turned on Boris Johnson so his days are numbered.

WoolyMammoth55 · 04/10/2020 12:46

A million times more attractive than BoJo, for sure - sexually, politically and as PM.

He'c clever and works hard - as opposed to pompous but stupid and lazy AF, which is what we have in Johnson.

How BJ manages to shag around so much is a genuine MYSTERY to me!

WhatifIfeellikeacat · 04/10/2020 12:48

🤮

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 04/10/2020 12:48

Yes totally. My friends are vaguely horrified....

looseddaughter · 04/10/2020 12:51

jojobar Why just keep repeating the same nonsense? He's not upper-middle class at all and there is no need for a leader of the Labour party to be working class to be successful. Previous successful leaders weren't working class and to win elections Labour need to appeal to the middle ground -that's the only way they've won in the past. They need to do that while not alienating the working class base but necessarily by 'being' working class at leadership level, though Angela Raynor could be said to be in the Prescott role to Keir's Blair (though his background is not as privileged as Blair's by any means).

As for the OP - yes, especially when he's staring a steely stare at Johnson at PMQs.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 04/10/2020 12:52

It's the combo of solid moral compass and sharp intelligence that does it for me...

I always preferred Mark Darcy to Daniel Cleaver....

Nikori · 04/10/2020 12:52

@IdkickJilliansass

No, he used to be my boss as well.
So is there any gossip about him? We need to know.

I don't think I'd describe him as disingenuous at all. He comes across as very sincere and earnest.

FippertyGibbett · 04/10/2020 12:56

🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮

ghostyslovesheets · 04/10/2020 13:00

@HesterShaw1

I would find him more sexy if he'd been more effective in the last few months.
yeah this! I had hope for him but he's been a bit of a damp squib of late - bring back lovely Ed !
Iola4 · 04/10/2020 13:03

No 🤢

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 04/10/2020 13:05

I’m not British and I don’t really understand what denotes all the different levels of the class system. I also don’t really know what ‘toolmaker’ actually means, it could be someone working in a barely lit hovel, carving and sharpening knives for a pittance or it could be a highly skilled craftsmen, earning a fortune for creating masterpieces 🤷‍♀️. Though upon googling I did discover his grammar school became a fee paying school after he’d been there three years, so his family must have had money I suppose. I also discovered his middle name is Rodney, awww, I shall henceforth think of him as Rodders (I like him, just wouldn’t shag him)

shivermetimbers77 · 04/10/2020 13:08

Yes, I totally would.

ChaChaCha2012 · 04/10/2020 13:13

His dad worked in a factory Judas, semi skilled work, not a master craftsman. When a school changes from a grammar to a fee paying school it is done on a transitional basis, those already there do not have to pay.

Still waiting to find out what makes his background upper middle class. On that basis I must be royalty Smile

ChaChaCha2012 · 04/10/2020 13:14

Here's a picture of him outside his childhood home. His background is definitely not middle class!

Crankley · 04/10/2020 13:16

Too funny, he looks like he's got about as much personality as a moth.

areyoubeingserviced · 04/10/2020 13:23

I find Chris Whitty extremely sexy. It’s the combination of calm authority and fierce intelligence.
Keir Starmer, is an intelligent man, but doesn’t quite do it for me.

Bubbletrouble43 · 04/10/2020 13:29

Noone in their right mind could find Chris whitty more attractive than keir starmer, sorry.

KandyKane22 · 04/10/2020 13:31

Yep... defo not seeing the attraction to Chris Whitty if I’m honest. I mean, he seems like a nice enough bloke, but really???

LakieLady · 04/10/2020 13:34

Though upon googling I did discover his grammar school became a fee paying school after he’d been there three years, so his family must have had money I suppose

Because he passed his 11+ (an exam that all children used to take in year 6, back in the dark ages), he won't have had to pay, even after the 11+ was abolished and his school opted to become "fee paying" rather than go non-selective. The same happened to my DP (albeit at a different school).

Those of us who were total smartarses and got free places in independent schools on the back of our 11+ results didn't have to pay either, we were treated as though we'd got full scholarships.
