To ask if giving a false phone number is a thing?

DuckyMcDuck · 01/10/2020 18:31

Went to a cafe with a friend, we sat outside but she was asked for her phone number. Once we sat down, she admitted that she always gives a false number and so does everyone she knows.

Is this really a common thing? I haven't been in places very much but have always given my number when asked.

I do hope that the Mail or some other national media picks up this thread and runs it, as they often do.

It's ok for @ClarencesMum @Potterpotterpotter @Janevaljane etc to talk twaddle in the comfort of a Mummy Forum but wonder how they'd like the nation to see their behaviour?

It's completely shocking to see adult women defend their terrible choices and behaviour, some of which is illegal now, and resort to insulting people about their 'thickness' for following rules to help keep people safe.

I don't know how you have the nerve to keep coming back to this thread to defend your appalling attitudes.

JinglingHellsBells · 04/10/2020 09:44

The restrictions clearly aren't sustainable.

The restrictions are there to curb another wave and more deaths until a vaccine is found.

Is that SO hard to get into your brain?

ClarencesMum · 04/10/2020 09:48

My goodness, not content on wishing death and illness on the people you dont agree with, and their loved ones... you stoop to a new low and wish the daily mail on us! Grin

Get. A. Life.

Aridane · 04/10/2020 09:50

I agree, @JinglingHellsBells

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 09:58

@ClarencesMum you are calling people idiots and as thick as fuck, you're not being very pleasant yourself are you?

You're also happy to not wish illness on others but actually cause people to be ill. Your actions are a physical threat. Sadly, yes it will probably be someone else's family that are affected by your selfishness.

I cannot understand how you can even begin to take the high moral ground?

I mean the worst thing that's happened is you've received two texts from a barber and you don't have the critical thinking to either call them and ask them to stop or just block them. Instead you start lying about your details.

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 10:15

You're also happy @ClarencesMum to repeatedly give out the sane number (your idea of changing two digits) so they get your texts, but goodness no, you shouldn't be bothered by them.

You don't think this is massively selfish? That person could be sick, scared by the texts they're receiving for places they've never been etc.

Goodness me, some people are unbelievable.

ClarencesMum · 04/10/2020 10:17

Oh settle down... go live your life!

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 10:22

Oh settle down... go live your life!

Excellent critical thinking answer @ClarencesMum, you've got no answer have you?

In your book it's ok to inconvenience others, make them ill and just call people doing the right thing, thick as fuck and idiots!

Refractory · 04/10/2020 10:45

@JinglingHellsBells

The restrictions clearly aren't sustainable.

The restrictions are there to curb another wave and more deaths until a vaccine is found.

Is that SO hard to get into your brain?

Six months in, one new anti-lockdown political party has sprung up out of protest, and Nigel Farage is waiting in the wings with another. The 1922 Committee is growing impatient.

The restrictions are not sustainable, Johnson is just too craven to say so. It's not in his gift to set forth this strategy without debate.

ClarencesMum · 04/10/2020 10:50

An answer for what? Your rambling thoughts?

JinglingHellsBells · 04/10/2020 10:58

What I think might be helpful @ClarencesMum is that your behaviour and that of others here is exposed to the wider public, whether that is in the Mail, the broadsheets or Twitter, or anywhere other than here. These forums are crawling with journalists.

Oh the irony of Get a Life (there is no need to put full stops to make your point, love.)

It's because we want a life- and our loved ones to have a life- that we are so incensed by your disgusting behaviour.

I hope you'd be happy to stand by the death bed of someone and tell their family that you didn't want to take part in T&T and reiterate the reasons you have posted here.

And don't come back saying it's hysteria or other nonsense like Get. A. Life. because that could be the result of your behaviour.

Maybe step away from this thread and do some serious thinking.

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 10:59

No @ClarencesMum an answer for your very selfish attitude by giving someone else's details repeatedly, to make your lying easier, because you've not got the critical thinking to be able to realise that's an issue.

ilovesooty · 04/10/2020 11:13

Nigel Farage? Grin

Opportunist supreme isn't he? And so loved by the gullible.

Janevaljane · 04/10/2020 12:21

Some people are very convinced by their own self-importance aren't they?

I can't stand Nigel Farage but lots and lots of people think he's marvellous (the older people in my small town, ironically).

monstermancs · 04/10/2020 16:00

Jingling, if you are that worried about being around other people who might have covid, why don't you stay at home until the virus is under control like you are telling others to do? You can always take out a loan for several thousand pounds to cover loss of work until the virus has gone.

Janevaljane · 04/10/2020 16:37

So funny that jingling thinks its going to worry posters that they might be "exposed" in the Mail.

Have you read the Daily Mail comments section? Or The Times? There are lots of people journalists could choose from, far more extreme than a few mums questioning the strategy.

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 16:40

@monstermancs what a marvellous idea, not heard any of the other Covidiots trot out that bullshit before!

Really unique answer to the problems the liars are causing. I'm so glad you thought of it, what gave you the idea?

Janevaljane · 04/10/2020 16:43

I think its a perfectly good suggestion?

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 16:53

Im sure you do @Janevaljane, it's hardly surprising at all!

GeologyRox · 04/10/2020 17:23

What do those who don't like the idea of track and trace propose happens instead? And how would they suggest the downside of their suggestion is dealt with?
Because there's downsides to every scenario here, there's positive and negative effects to however it's dealt with, whether that be a total full lockdown and complete restriction of movement or removing all the guidelines and laws and ploughing through whatever comes.

Idroppedthescrewinthetuna · 04/10/2020 17:38

I think Mumsnet has been overtaken by a bunch of stroppy entitled teenagers!

I must thank you so much for the openness in your lack of responsibility! You have confirmed why we don't really go anywhere unless we actually have to! I dread to think if your children are as entitled as you? Covidiots? No lets not confine your idiocy around Covid, lets just state the truth...you are just an idiot. You all write on here like a stroppy teenager. I can imagine you smirking as you press the post button. Do you say 'so there' as you do it too?

ManxiousCat · 04/10/2020 18:56

I've bern out to two different pubs/restaurants in my city this weekend. Booked one over the phone, no details asked about phone no and the other was a walk up...ate and drank at both. No T and T documents anywhere or QR code to scan in either pub. Both hot on mask wearing but Social Distance and T and T was totally non existent. If hospitality don't subscribe to it, why will the public ?

ineedaholidaynow · 04/10/2020 19:03

@ManxiousCat hospitality have to subscribe to T&T, if they don't they could be closed down

ManxiousCat · 04/10/2020 19:05

@ineedaholidaynow I understand the pubs' legal duties, clearly they don't it seems.

whatsyournamenow · 04/10/2020 19:13

I suggest you report them then @ManxiousCat, the same as the selfish liars on here should be reported!
