To be angry my husband booked my flu shot?

Bankingswitch · 30/09/2020 17:01

Been at my desk since 7am. I go to the toilet for 10 minutes this afternoon to find Dh has booked my flu shot for a time I didn't want

Phone rang, he picked up and it was surgery on behalf of NHS to book this year's flu shot for me.

He had the choice of 2 appointments 9am and 10.30am. He picked the second one. I always make medical appointments for first thing if I have a choice - he knows this!

If there was no choice in appointment I could accept that but there was!

Also annoyed because I am a high-risk patient (hence the flu shot) and now another 20 people will have been through the room I have to use before I even get there!!

He says it will be fine. He's so laidback all the time. He thought we could go for a walk afterwards if we went later... I am more interested in not catching COVID right now.

I am happy to hide out from COVID and flu but don't like having to go into situations like this.

Am I being unreasonable?

@UglyBoy19

She’s anxious about her jab - stop trolling her. Flu jabs are like gold dust in my area so whatever you do don’t cancel the appt. he’s made for you. Good luck.
Thank you 😍

@KindredSpirit1

I’m sorry but you are being unreasonable. Flu jab appointments are like gold dust at the moment and seriously why didn’t you phone and rearrange? Really you need to apologise to your husband and quite frankly appreciate the kind gesture.
Apology done and appreciating ongoing Halo
ExtenuatingCircumstances · 01/10/2020 20:26

Just say thanks.

I don’t know if you’re stressed or something but quite frankly this is ridiculous. Not only are you angry he booked your flu jab ( dear god), you cane to mumsnet expecting people to understand your neurosis. Look we all get annoyed at silly things, maybe it’s time you grew up and recognised that’s what you’re doing.

He just answered the phone and said "the second one will do" to save him leaning into next room and checking with me.

But maybe I'll make him a steak dinner by way of thanks Wink

@THEDEACON

I am highrisk too and you are completely and utterly being unreasonable
I am very very high-risk for being unreasonable and a general pain in the arse 😂
user1467019428 · 01/10/2020 20:36

YABU, unless you live in America, why say flu shot🤔

Onelovelyone · 01/10/2020 20:37

You are being unreasonable; he booked it and if he hadn’t you would t have then as they are in short supply. I would be thanking him for doing it!

eaglejulesk · 01/10/2020 20:37

LOL! It's me smile forgot to change my name! Glad it is enjoyable - I am rather enjoying it myself haha!

It has been an interesting thread. Sorry if my earlier post in response to your OP was bit harsh. You do sound lovely and are taking it all in good spirit.

Not at all Smile you're just lovely! I knew I'd get an arse-kicking I wouldn't forget in a hurry!

My DH is very kind and patient with me - too much so perhaps - it was good for me to see how my behaviour would be viewed by people outside the situation.

I’d be annoyed too if he knows your preferences and chose his own so you could share a walk. Could he not have walked to toilet and asked what you wanted while on call?

MarylurvesDick · 01/10/2020 20:44

Well you sound fun OP, and what a bastard your husband is 🤔🤦🏼‍♀️

NoPointInWednesdays · 01/10/2020 20:45

OMG!!! How many bloody times does the OP have to answer the same thing!! She knows she was BU.....DAYS AGO!!! HTH!! I suggest read the op’s responses before posting but then again I don’t think that’s a thing on here tbh!!

Well done op you have the patience of a saint I started getting annoyed on your behalf ages ago!! Angry these are unprecedented times no wonder your health anxiety is worse! But in all honesty it’s totally fine with the jab I got mine yesterday ( Scotland too ) and your in the front door and out the back also 1 in 1 out. Hope your lungs feel a bit better soon too Flowers

changerr · 01/10/2020 20:49

OP, I feel for you. I think YABU, but I can totally relate that it is annoying that your OH didn't book the earlier appointment. You have a right to be a little annoyed, especially if you've told him many times that you like the earliest doctor's appointments in all cases. But it's only a tiny thing so best not to dwell! :-) Good luck with the jab!

He could have, yes. I don't know why he didn't. Even after all these years we can still surprise each other Wink

Thank youSmile

Dwelling is a good word for what I do. I am determined to break this horrible habit.

Thanks! Smile Yes this has turned into a very busy thread. I thought it would have died by now.

Iamthedevilinthedetail maybe read the thread!

expatinspain · 01/10/2020 21:49

People on this thread are possibly the stupidest people I’ve ever come across on any thread on MN. THE OP HAS APOLOGISED TO HER HUSBAND. ALL IS WELL. STOP COMMENTING YOUR REPETITIVE BOLLOCKS NOW FFS! Jesus Christ!! OP, you have been calmness and patience personified on this thread.

PlonkItDownNOW · 01/10/2020 21:51

I can't believe this is still going 13 pages later when OP acknowledged she was BU on page 1 🤣

HolyForkinShirt · 01/10/2020 21:59

You really do sound like hard work 🤦🏻‍♀️

Furries · 01/10/2020 22:01

I’ve given up at page 11. Having actually bothered to read everything up to that point, I can see:

The OP has fully acknowledged that her health anxiety has heightened things and that she was being unreasonable.

The OP has taken all comments with extremely good grace. And has apologised to her DH.

Lots of people offering reassuring info on how appointments are being handled.

A number of people struggling to get appointments - I really hope you are able to secure one.

And a shit load of people who post YABU without bothering to see how the thread has moved on. And, even worse, start off along the lines of “book it yourself” which makes it plainly obvious that they haven’t even comprehended the words in the very first post 🤣
