What is a hun?

I’ve seen this pop up a few times in threads eg ‘the sort of thing huns like’ or ‘that website is full of huns’

What exactly is a hun? Is it just somebody who says ‘hun’ a lot? What things are supposedly liked by huns?

Atilla and his ilk.

Mumdiva99 · 30/09/2020 13:20

On here it refers to women involved in multilevel marketing activities.

Derived from their 'online' activities....e.g. face book posts "you should try it hun, it's amazing" etc.... they are too busy to learn anyone's name.

Marisishidinginmyattic · 30/09/2020 13:20

Live laugh love

FourPlasticRings · 30/09/2020 13:20

A Rangers fan Grin

ShebaShimmyShake · 30/09/2020 13:21

We all must serve our Emperor who guards us from them.

(A man by bearing arms, a girl by bearing sons.)

seayork2020 · 30/09/2020 13:22

I thought it was name short for honey as in 'take the rubbish out hun'

goldeline · 30/09/2020 13:22

MLMers or Netmums users depending on context

picklecustard · 30/09/2020 13:23

Yeah it always makes me think of Mulan Grin

That’s true, I’ve had a few people on Facebook selling forever living and similar products and they do use ‘hun’ a fair bit but in a really false and forced way.

It can also refer to nethuns, an alternative parenting website that semi rhymes with what I just typed.

They're v prone to calling people 'hun' there.

Let's get down to business to defeat the huns!
HEYAhhhhhhhhh · 30/09/2020 13:23

Hun is Honey... haha

yelyah22 · 30/09/2020 13:24

The stereotype is: crushed velvet furniture, MLM schemes like Tropic or Scentsy, obsessed with Mrs Hinch, Live Laugh Love decor, etc. There's definitely a class/perceived intelligence angle to it, too.

HEYAhhhhhhhhh · 30/09/2020 13:25

Honey.

What is a hun?
picklecustard · 30/09/2020 13:26

So a hun is literally someone who says hun a lot?
Who may also be a user of netmums and a fan of MLM schemes?

And something completely different in N.Ireland...

Sparklesocks · 30/09/2020 13:27

I think it’s used in different contexts but generally it refers to a stereotype of a woman who posts on social media with ‘hun’ (inbox me hun xx) - often with connotations of live laugh love/it’s gin o clock! type sentiments.

Justlovedogs · 30/09/2020 13:27

I'd always thought it was short for honey...

yelyah22 · 30/09/2020 13:28

Hun/hon obviously is short for honey, when used as a affectionate (or patronising) name for someone. But it's also come to mean a particular stereotype too. It can be both!

@MaxNormal my thoughts exactly 😂

yelyah22 · 30/09/2020 13:35

Isn't a "hun" basically the grown up/married version of an Essex Girl?

(sorry to be a raging snob but it's kind of out there, right?)

Ah see I would have said it was the grown up/married version of Fiat 500 girls, if we're going with stereotypes, ha. Are Fiat 500 girls and Essex girls the same?

And huns are married to the grown up version of Dark Fruits lads (which don't have a grown up equivalent...)...

tara66 · 30/09/2020 13:39

Germans are sometimes called HUN. As in WW2.

MaxNormal · 30/09/2020 13:41

tara66 beware the Hun in the sun...
