Cheap jibes about 'kool aid' don't turn an inadequate Democratic Party candidate into a good one.

He may not be the most exciting candidate, but he's not a racist, misogynistic, crooked, wanna be dictator.

I don't know how anyone can put them in the same ocean, much less the same boat unless you've been drinking so much Kool-Aid you can see clearly anymore.

He might not be racist but I think anyone who touches women the way Joe Biden does is almost certainly a misogynist, even if he doesn't publicly admit to it like Trump does.

I was actually thinking last night that based on body language, Trump actually looks like the more respectful of the two. Not that I believe he actually is respectful, far from it, just that he isn't at blatantly physical in public in his disrespect.

Anyway, I'm not arguing that anyone should vote for Trump, I think he's despicable, and an absolute menace, but I do think that there's not as much between them in their attitudes to women as I would wish there to be.

Except that one will uphold women's reproductive rights and the other won't.

No brainer in my opinion.

They’re both so old. I know it shouldn’t matter but it does - two privileged white males in their 70s to chose from. Meh.

Biden is a woeful candidate but you’d have to be a thicko or a cunt to actively vote for Trump

Biden, in the hope that Kamala Harris does lots of the heavy lifting.

Honestly the choice is “Trump” of “not Trump”.

Not Trump. Therefore, Biden.

I meant in their personal interaction.

And Biden might uphold reproductive rights but he's planning on trashing women's rights in total which will affect women negatively in every way.

Definitely Biden. He might not be great, but Trump is dangerous.

I am begging any Americans reading this to vote for Biden. Please get rid of Trump.

Neither will condemn the thugs acting in their name. Biden refuses to condemn the lawlessness in Democrat run cities.

Biden. But his son's business dealings are questionable.

I agree Trump will try to declare the election null. He's already been messing with the postal votes and putting it out there that there's malpractice afoot. I read he was also messing with the electoral college system too. I really fear for American come November if there is not a clear result.

Biden but really I agree with what Starcat wrote on page 1. 300 million Americans and this is the choice they have as leader? Wtf went wrong there?

This isn’t even a question. Whatever Biden’s failings may be, as many others have put more eloquently I would vote for almost anyone or anything over Trump.

There are bad politicians, politicians whose policies I don’t agree with, but to elect a racist, misogynistic, tax avoiding who has likely committed sexual assault is unacceptable.

I'm beyond shocked Biden is the best they can come up with . I feel so terrible for my American friends . Obviously I'd vote a house brick over Trump but really that wouldn't be far off .

They won the popular vote with Hillary and still lost and I think it scared and scarred them

I think this time they are working on the fact that they need to get a foothold in voters who will (very sadly) only vote for an old white man.

Hatred for Trump in some voters is such that Biden is unlikely to put them off.

PErsonally I hope tatically the plan would be for him to have to step down after 2-3 years due to illhealth to allow Kamala Harris to take over!

If by that you mean he's going to uphold trans rights, than that's just another plus for me. Go Biden.

@borntobequiet

Really puzzled that anyone can say that both are equally bad. This is the sort of disingenuous nonsense that encouraged people to vote for a criminal narcissistic liar and failed businessman over a talented and experienced female politician (albeit with some pretty standard flaws as far as US politicians go) last time round.
Trump is clearly deranged.

This. Plus also if you’re interested in having a habitable planet for humanity for all future generations Biden has some reasonable policies to address climate change. Another term of Trump and we are utterly fucked.

@Mummyoflittledragon

Biden. When he put himself forward, my first reaction was why didn’t he push one of his children instead as they’d surely be a better age. Then I looked them up. His first born, Beau, whom he believed could one day run for president, died a few years ago. I do wonder if his second son or daughter were ever considered or if it was just Beau. Having quickly scanned the Internet, I came up blank. Perhaps when a family is aiming for the top, you pick your first born or the most appropriate child and use the others as support tools and this may have left a vacuum. The GCs are too young. Right now, therefore the only option is perhaps still Biden senior.

This made me think of the Kennedys. All their boys were groomed for politics but it was Joseph P Kennedy Jr, their eldest, who was destined for presidency. He was the clever, charming, good looking one. He was killed tragically young whilst serving in world war two, leaving the next brother, Jack, to fulfill his father's presidential dreams. Jack was sickly and less charismatic but became the youngest ever (and only Catholic) president of the USA.

Weird how history plays out. We could have had a cultural icon called JPK.

Trump, because we could only get four more years of him, whereas there could be eight of Biden.
