I’m up watching the first presidential debate from the UK. Who would get your vote?

YABU Trump
YANBU Biden

Biden all day every day.

I would trust Trump to wipe his own arse..... he should NEVER have been voted in. Just goes to show how unutterably thick Americans are.

FelicisNox · 01/10/2020 18:22

wouldn't

DreamTheMoors · 01/10/2020 18:22

@user1471439310

I live in the US and not voting for either. I agree, we have over 360 million people here and this is best we can do? I feel for my grandchildren.
@user1471439310

Then you’re voting for Trump by default.

AlternativePerspective · 01/10/2020 18:28

I would vote for Satan if he was running against Trump, just to be sure that Trump didn’t get my vote.

TBH I question the intelligence of anyone who votes for trump, but the kinds of people who do are the kinds who end up in cults, such as some of the right-wing evangelical Christians who go to the kinds of churches where feelings run high and tolerance is low.

If you look at some of the Trump followers, they’re like groupies - I saw one recently who posted “trump 2020” and she’s supposedly an intelligent woman according to friend whose post she posted it on. Err I think not.

Wilkie1956mog · 01/10/2020 18:31

I don't much like Biden. He's too old. The Dems needed a younger, more charismatic person to challenge Trump. But if I was voting, my god, it would be Biden a hundred times before Trump. Trump is terrifying. A ridiculous moron, but terrifying and dangerous. I really fear for America if he gets another term.

ListeningQuietly · 01/10/2020 18:40

The fact that the Russian funded pro Trump bots are on a thread on a UK parenting site
says all we need to know about how vulnerable they feel.

Nearly47 · 01/10/2020 18:45

To the British people saying "poor Americans" have you forgotten who is our PM?

ddl1 · 01/10/2020 18:47

The point is: even if Trump and Biden were equally bad with regard to their personal conduct (I don't think they are). I would still prefer Biden, because Trump is not just a bully himself, but he and his cohorts actively encourage others to be bullies. Racism. Misogyny. Gun worship. Free speech for those who wish to abuse minorities, but not for critics of the Right. And his influence is not limited to the USA itself. At one point, his one-time chief of staff Steve Bannon was actively aiding and encouraging far-right parties in Europe. And of course, his handling of the Covid crisis would make our government look like fountains of wisdom and responsibility in comparison.

Proudboomer · 01/10/2020 18:50

The KKK was a Democratic Party formed organisation which at its height in the 1920s had 4 million members.
The figures of membership have been in sharp decline for years now and since 2016 has been reduced from 130 to 51klan groups.( figures given by the southern poverty law centre in 2019)

So stop with your kkk fear mongering.
The present months of violence in Seattle and Portland are not the kkk but The progressive left wing under the banner of BLM.

Even without what is happening in America today this is a very interesting read on American history and the kkk.

Guylan · 01/10/2020 18:55

Proud boomer, you are clearly a massive Trump supporter and imbibe highly partisan Fox News tv and it’s many lies, but for what it’s worth not that I expect you to listen, I read the following today on the false claim the violence is predominantly coming from the left:

“Trump is wrong to pretend that the left is responsible for the violence on America’s streets. Between 1 January 1994 and 8 May 2020, white supremacists and other rightwing extremists in the US carried out attacks that left 329 people dead. In the same period, a single attack staged by an anti-fascist resulted in a killing. And during that incident, the one person who lost their life was the anti-fascist perpetrator.”

D4rwin · 01/10/2020 18:57

Honestly? I'm glad I don't have to choose. It's ridiculous, don't they have anyone competent in the whole country?

caringcarer · 01/10/2020 18:59

Neither are good options. I would vote for Trump on basis he was doing really well on economy before Covid and not sure Boden could do that.

AlternativePerspective · 01/10/2020 19:01

To the British people saying "poor Americans" have you forgotten who is our PM? I don’t like Boris but he is not remotely comparable to Trump.

Trump actually reacts like a toddler. “You came bottom of the class so don’t mention the word smart to me.” seriously, what grown man behaves and reacts like that, let alone one who is in charge of running a country.

ListeningQuietly · 01/10/2020 19:02

I would vote for Trump on basis he was doing really well on economy before Covid and not sure Boden could do that.

Who is Boden?

And what was Trump doing on the economy pre Covid - other than picking pyrrhic trade wars with China?

Tiredwiththeshits · 01/10/2020 19:05

On the basis alone that trump is fighting the boys clubs at the top of society, ratting out the paedophiles and gunning for the sex trafficked children. Trump.

HelloToMyKitty · 01/10/2020 19:10

I’m not voting (never do, absentee ballots aren’t usually counted anyway unless it’s close) but basically my entire extended family is voting Trump, just like last time.

Have to admit I totally understand why they would. Great economy before COVID and they were doing better economically as mostly blue-collar workers.

Have to say my stock portfolio did great during the past few years and have mostly recovered from that big slide earlier this year too 🤷‍♀️

Proudboomer · 01/10/2020 19:11

Actually I am not but then neither do I have a vote as I am British. I am just fed up of reading the liberal bias. Have you watched any of the videos of the looting and burning going on by blm in Portland and Seattle? Seen the videos of ordinary people dragged out of the cars and the shit kicked out of them. Look up marquees love on you tube and watch him half kill a man who stopped to help a trans woman who was being abused by blm. See the burnt out black owned business, the looting, the hassling of the general public as they try to eat a meal in the restraunts all done in the name of BLM.

I both doubt your figures on right wing violence but my issue is the mainstream media ignoring the left wing violence happening now. The most ridiculous thing I have seen is this

Mostly peaceful my arse.

Guylan · 01/10/2020 19:12

@Nearly47

To the British people saying "poor Americans" have you forgotten who is our PM?
No, UK politics and government has gone down a dark path too. I loathe Johnson and our govt.
Proudboomer · 01/10/2020 19:12

I don’t doubt not both

Proudboomer · 01/10/2020 19:16

I am not a boris fan either and I lay the blame of him getting elected firmly at the doors of labour for giving the alternative of Corbin.
I am hoping that kier starker can rebuild the Labour Party into a party that is electable.

Danja2010 · 01/10/2020 19:16

What are you talking about ?! He is a loyal family man .

Proudboomer · 01/10/2020 19:17

Starmer

HelloToMyKitty · 01/10/2020 19:17

Trump is wrong to pretend that the left is responsible for the violence on America’s streets

Stop gaslighting us. Antifa are responsible for the looting, burning and rioting happening right now. The municipal police need to step up and arrest (and actually prosecute) these pricks.

notdaddycool · 01/10/2020 19:20

Last time I thought I wouldn’t vote for either of them. This time I think anyone but trump. It’s sad that not only these two but Saunders and Bloomberg were all males over 70. Miserable.
