What do we reckon?

OP posts:
Stripyhoglets1 · 29/09/2020 22:27

We won't have a choice but to accept it! There's no way they will risk another election now and with their massive majority there is no chance the opposition parties can get the numbers together to force the issue.
They've got the NHS to fully privatise and the BBC to destroy before their job is done. The will do this as they will be expecting to lose next time as Kier Starmer is a serious contender and people will be pissed off after 15 years and vote for a change.

CakeRequired · 29/09/2020 22:29

Duh. Did anyone who voted for leave actually think he would stay? You don't stay on the sinking ship. 😂 Hence why Cameron jumped off as soon as we voted leave, and why May followed suit not long after. She thought she could potentially get rid of the mistake, she couldn't, she abandoned it.

Boris will run off and leave whichever dipstick is stupid enough to take the helm of titanic. My vote is on Cummings. Anyone else want to take a guess at the moron who will take over?

Justanotherlurker · 29/09/2020 22:31

Tend to agree but it could trigger another election as I can’t see people passively accepting a unelected PM again.

That won't happen, 4 years of Tory Government with a huge majority, Trounced Labour in the last election, Starmer not offering any resistance with the tory back benchers re lock down.

Even with brexit (which isn't looking as bad as the projections envisioned), there will be no snap election

Pixxie7 · 29/09/2020 22:34

Solasum@ I know but I think the main reason the Tories did so well is because of Boris, Teresa May was unpopular and I think people have had enough.

Porcupineinwaiting · 29/09/2020 22:36

Yep, wont see him for dust. Speaking of which, how's old David doing these days?

PercyKirke · 29/09/2020 22:38

The only question is will he wriggle out before the 1922 committee sacks him?

Pixxie7 · 29/09/2020 22:38

I don’t think we really know about the fall out from Brexit because of the focus being on Covid it’s under the radar at the moment.

strawberrysandpecans · 29/09/2020 22:38

Cummings isn't a politician or elected. But it will probably be Gove with Cummings pulling the strings, or Rishi Sunak with Cummings pulling the strings. Maybe Dominic Raab or Priti Patel

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 29/09/2020 22:40

They didn’t actually change the law on that, did they? So I presume the fixed term parliament act currently still applies. Although they have enough of a majority to change it this time around.

TheDuchessofMalfy · 29/09/2020 22:40

Yeah, piss weak deal and then he’ll fuck off.

Cummings can’t take over as he’s not an MP.

Rishi Sunak might be a front runner. While I believe he is a self interested as the rest of them, he comes across as vaguely competent / willing to do some work and convinces as a human unlike the others. And the Tories believe he is popular so that seems to be their only criterion for selecting leaders.

Not sure who else might possibly step in.

frumpety · 29/09/2020 22:41

I am not sure Boris going would trigger another election, the Conservatives could easily change leader without an election ?

thelastjuliet · 29/09/2020 22:43

Hes not great but I hope hes doesnt go as that wouldbe 3 pms in 5 years and I dont see anyone in the tories who I believe could currently replace him as PM and manage
imagine micheal Gove etc as PM! lol

Theluggage15 · 29/09/2020 22:45

Won’t see him for dust. Economy starting to implode, pop Brexit on top, he’ll run away as fast as his cowardly legs will take him. But he’ll be fine just like Cameron. Cameron’s biggest worry at the moment is getting a £50k swimming pool for his Cotswold home.

DianaT1969 · 29/09/2020 22:49

Gove's people will start a slur campaign against Rishi as soon as Johnson's resignation is imminent.

frumpety · 29/09/2020 22:50

Hardly anyone actually voted for Boris, a lot of people voted for the Conservative party, who is waiting in the wings to take the job in the post Covid and post Brexit future ?

ChavvySexPond · 29/09/2020 22:55

To spend more time with his families? Wink

Defenbaker · 29/09/2020 22:56

Yes, I think he's had enough. Being PM during a pandemic, on top of Brexit, has turned out to be much harder than anyone could imagine. I don't think Bojo enjoys knuckling down and making difficult decisions, and he has appeared quite out of his depth at times.

Rishi might make a decent PM. I hope Cummings disappears, but I doubt we'll be that lucky.

Anotherthink · 29/09/2020 22:58

Yes he'll be gone in the new year. Hopefully someone who can deal with the fall out of brexit and ensure they don't fuck up any rollout programme of a covid vaccine will step in. I've no idea who that could be from this lot...I can see raab getting the job next though. Gove, patel and hancock don't have the public on side.

Anotherthink · 29/09/2020 23:01

If rishi got the job, I would assume it would be to pin everything on him as next year is going to be utter shite.

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 29/09/2020 23:01

Yep, have been convinced for a while that he’d go for a no deal Brexit then cut & run....however the Covid issue has ballsed it up (more chaos and anarchy may well come to pass) so he’ll go for the terrible deal, sell everyone but the very wealthy down the river and then run. All he’s trying to save at this point is his reputation...which to be fair was pretty crap to start with imho!

TheGreatWave · 29/09/2020 23:02

YANBU, however YABU to have seemingly only just figured this out - this was bleeding obvious this time last year (and the run up to that point)

He has never said he would see it through - all he promised is that he would get Brexit done - and he will have.

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 29/09/2020 23:04

Omg - if he pulls out the “more time with my family” line🤣🤣....what, he’s got to the eighth(?!) child and NOW he wants to be a reliable, present Daddy?! Holy moly, what a father (sarcastic).

powershowerforanhour · 29/09/2020 23:07

whichever dipstick is stupid enough to take the helm of titanic.

Well it's a poisoned chalice again so they'll probably give it to a woman to sup from as they push her off the glass cliff. Priti Patel would be arrogant enough to think they'd chosen her on merit so she'd happily jump off the cliff herself I'd say.

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 29/09/2020 23:11

@ThereIsNoSuchThingAsRoadTax

Give what a rest? Are people not allowed to complain when we're governed by the most corrupt, talentless, incompetent bunch of arseholes ever to occupy the corridors of power?
you've obviously never heard of my President
MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 29/09/2020 23:17

I do rather like the idea of him fucking off tbh
