To think if you can't control your sphincter

You shouldn't go to a yoga class!

Fair enough that the odd trump occasionally pops out (never happened to me but can see that it might) but to fart on and off throughout the class at every change of position I think is fairly grim.

Bearing in mind we are trying to avoid peoples oral fumes, I don't want to spend 50 minutes breathing in their anal ones!

Before I get attacked by people mentioning physical problems that may cause gas, I have suffered from IBS in the past and would not attend a yoga class if I knew I was having a particularly bad day.

YABU - Everyone can enjoy yoga, even if they are tooting throughout the class.
YANBU - that is grim.

ConfusedHmm

Move away from them?

Anordinarymum · 28/09/2020 15:03

Oh Bless you :)

Is there any way you can go to the toilet first before you attend the class so you don't have stools sitting there in your lower bowel ?

I have a neat little trick which I have used for years which works. I give myself a quick enema using a long nosed bottle and soapy water and it makes me 'go'. I do this if I am going out to do something which may compromise me as in a yoga class or similar.

Brokenchair1 · 28/09/2020 15:03

Hard to do once class has started, everyone has exactly their own spot now that is distanced from other spots due to social distancing.

Point taken though....still you probably would have heard them 3 mats down..

Brokenchair1 · 28/09/2020 15:05

@anordinarymum

This was not me! I have never tooted in an exercise class (not audibly anyway).

Like I say, the odd slip out during happy baby, fine. Trumping away at every bend, not fine IMO.

Brokenchair1 · 28/09/2020 15:06

Also I do a quick lunchtime class between work and later parenting duties, not sure I would have time to work an enema into my schedule (not that I am sure I would want to) Confused

I think you’ve been very unfortunate!

I’m a yoga teacher and only 2 people have ever audibly farted in my classes (once each, not repeat offenders).

luckystarmaking · 28/09/2020 15:08

Maybe it was a fanny fart?

Twigletfairy · 28/09/2020 15:09

Maybe they didn't start farting until the yoga class had started, so didn't realise they were going to have a problem until they're too late?

Or maybe they thought if 2 metres was enough distance to avoid people breathing on them, they thought 2 metres meant other people wouldn't be affected by their farts Grin

Im not sure it's terribly healthy to do a DIY enema more than once in a blue moon if ever

I have done this for years as I suffer from very hard impacted stools which build up and become almost impossible to pass and then when I do go I inevitably bleed.

Leading up to going I start to pass wind and it is not pleasant. The enema I am talking about takes two minutes and the relief is wonderful.

i have done it for many years. i told my doctor and he said it was fine to do this. I take my blessed bottle on holiday too so I never get the Spanish tummy my friends all seem to get from time to time.

boredboredboredboredbored · 28/09/2020 15:12

Tooted????!

MysweetAudrina · 28/09/2020 15:12

It's definitely been one of the positives to my yoga studio going online since COVID. If I want to let one rip it's only the dog I offend.

I normally don't eat before class which makes farting less likely. I have farted audibly during class twice since I started a few years ago.

tectonicplates · 28/09/2020 15:12

YABU to go to yoga classes if you can't stand the smell of other people. What are you going to do next, go to an exercise class and complain about people being sweaty?

For many people, IBS is caused by stress and yoga helps to relax, hence lots of different muscles relax.

Gazelda · 28/09/2020 15:14

@anordinarymum. I'm sorry, but I can't stop myself from asking. Do you keep the long necked bottle next to the loo brush? Which should probably be a whole new thread!

ToastyCrumpet · 28/09/2020 15:14

I thought farts in yoga classes were an accepted thing?

I have IBD, shall I just stay home permanently?

Marylou2 · 28/09/2020 15:16

Is it the same person farting throughout the class or are you unlucky enough to practise with a gang of gaseous guffers?

JonHammIsMyJamm · 28/09/2020 15:16

The poo/fart/enema troll will be fapping away good and proper at this one.
