Might be all the stress in the world at the moment but it’s made me think about what I’d give for a couple of doves and the clammy hands that come with them. Don’t think my heart could take it now Sad

So many branches of the dance musical tree

Ylfa · 03/10/2020 11:07

Ahhhhh that’s beautiful

LadyofTheManners · 03/10/2020 18:17

@BlackbirdFirst

There should be a clandestine mumsnet rave when lockdown is over. Masses of middle aged mums off their tits having dancing till dawn. Followed in my case by a detox spa week! It would be worth it.Smile
The way my body aches after bending down I think I'd end up in traction
KnightsofColumbusThatHurt · 03/10/2020 18:22

I've never taken any illegal drugs.

I become a bit of an annoying twat when I drink too much alcohol so I have always thought that I would turn into a fully certified weapons grade CUNT if I ever took cocaine! Grin

Izzabellasasperella · 03/10/2020 19:52

@KnightsofColumbusThatHurt most people on it are😊

MrsBobDylan · 03/10/2020 20:17

I would love just one more night but my teeth couldn't cope. Once I get to the stage where I have a full set of dentures, there will be no stopping me.

SomeoneInTheLaaaaaounge · 03/10/2020 20:31

Take me back to Bagleys. It’s some shitty chain restaurant now. If only they knew the shit that went down there......

I know one of the old garage DJs from Bagley's.
Mind you I know a few old DJs

Yes I dont take it because it makes me become more insane. I actually feel scared of myself on coke.
Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 01:42

For me come used to make me more sober. Be really drunk not speaking properly, boom one line and sober again.

Mariola321 · 04/10/2020 01:42

Coke not come

Yeah I didn't do it very often, but I used to find the same. I've known people to act like flash wankers on it but it just kept me at a point where I couldn't drop a pill for whatever reason, but I would do a few lines and be fine to get up at 8am off to work, eat breakfast. Pills were bastards for the cone down for me. I'd need a whole day the day after to just laze on the sofa
MrDarcysMa · 05/10/2020 07:56

Where I grew up is an economically depressed town, numerous people have died before or around middle age due to alcohol issues. We had 3 amputees due to alcohol- much younger than you'd think, there were a few cases of heroin addiction too.

Where I live now - it's not uncommon to go back to a house party and a couple of times a year, there will be pills or MDMA. Parents, business owners, people in 40s and 50s everyone having a great time and nobody becomes ill or turns into an arsehole.

I sometimes wonder if alcohol is worse.

Having seen what alcohol does I absolutely definitely think it's worse.

KenDodd · 05/10/2020 09:46

Irl I don't think I've seen or heard of anyone who's life has been damaged by ecstasy. I know they do exist though. I wish I could say the same about alcohol.

KenDodd · 05/10/2020 09:52

Actually, no. Thinking about it I do know one person who's life was very badly damaged by ecstasy.
Friends of a friend who was arrested and charged with possession or dealing or something (can't remember the details) he wasn't a dealer though, not making money out of it anyway. I think he just picked things up for his friends. Was convicted as served time in prison. This cost him everything. He had been training as a solicitor and was at a firm doing his articals. I don't know what happened to him after prison, this was all about 30 years ago.

Yes I agree

I was at a party. No drugs. Lots and lots of booze.
Two friends, they came together. Been mates for years. Had a silly squabble over nothing of any merit. It escalated. We tried to calm them down. One went out the room into the kitchen. We left the other guy to calm down. 90% of the people at the party left as the atmosphere was crap. Next thing we knew, the guy in the kitchen had walked through to the other room and stabbed the other guy to death. He then walked out the house. He walked into the 24 hour garage covered in blood and went home, passed out drunk. It was me who found the guy stabbed.
I still have nightmares about it. It was all attributed to how much alcohol they had had. Two lives ruined because of a petty squabble that the murderer couldn't even recall what it was about.
Even now if someone gets drunk at a party I leave. People lose their minds when drunk. These were two mates.

Emeraldshamrock · 05/10/2020 10:17

People lose their minds when drunk Yep some people are very dangerous drunks your reaction is magnified.
A&E would be a pleasure without drunks.

MrDarcysMa · 05/10/2020 10:34

@LadyofTheManners god that's horrible. I'm so sorry you had to see that x

Thank you
The worst thing was the court case, seeing his kids at it and feeling like I couldn't explain why their dad was gone as I didn't understand myself. I was 19 at the time and the police weren't exactly supportive.
It put me off drinking or socialising for about ten years. And as I said even now I hate being near anyone drunk.

KarenCaron · 05/10/2020 11:31

LadyofTheManners that's awful.

LadyofTheManners · 05/10/2020 11:56

LadyofTheManners that's awful.
No it wasn't. It was just a night like many others. Which has always made me think that it can, and does, happen anywhere at any time. It's no wonder you hear on the news quite often of a Friday or Saturday night stabbing. Some people are funny drunks. Some people regress to highly teen. But sadly some turn nasty and violent who previously you would never had imagined being anything like that.
Bbq1 · 05/10/2020 12:32

That's tragic @Lady but to be fair, drugs are also a massive scourge in society. Alcohol misuse doesn't just cancel out drug abuse. All the people on here missing their pills obviously don't realise that the production and distribution of all drugs involve exploitation, coercion, trafficking, violence often of vulnerable people. Ultimately, drug taking often ends in the death of the user. However, they won't be the only person harmed by the drug that killed them - all along the supply chain, people will have been harmed in different ways in the production and supply of that drug.

KarenCaron · 05/10/2020 12:54

Fair enough. I hope not to experience a night like that then! My nights out are generally not as eventful.
