Might be all the stress in the world at the moment but it’s made me think about what I’d give for a couple of doves and the clammy hands that come with them. Don’t think my heart could take it now Sad

This post has made me miss clubbing, but it was a sober affair for me, so people used to look rather baffled when I danced like mad then ate a massive burger at 5am and then promptly fell asleep. I miss my psy trance and DNB - thanks kids!

It was always nice going to clubs when people were on E, everyone was friendly, whereas clubs where everyone was on coke was shit. If arseholes had wheels, those clubs would be a car park! That's one drug the world could really do without. It would be such a better place without it.

I caught myself dancing to the music in the supermarket the other day. What have I become! Sad

@Facelikearustytractor

LOL! ''There is no bond''......😂
Idontbelieveit12 · 28/09/2020 21:18

I was shown a video about Leah Betts in PSHE at school. Terrified me enough to never touch anything (apart from the odd spliff)

hulahooper2 · 28/09/2020 21:30

I am very anti drug , can’t believe the number of you who think it’s acceptable

zenasfuck · 28/09/2020 21:30

Ive found my people Grin

I would love to go back to the 90s and get off my tits again

Sadly these days I'm too scared to have an extra G&T in case I can't handle it

QueenofmyPrinces · 28/09/2020 21:44

I feel like I’ve fallen off Mumsnet and ended up somewhere else.

As a previous poster said, I can’t believe how pro-drugs so many people on here are.

I wonder if you’d be so blase if your own children disclosed to you they were ecstasy and cocaine users. I assume most of you would be happy they were doing it and encouraging it, based on your own nostalgic, happy and excited memories of the wonderful experiences you had when you took it yourself?

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 28/09/2020 21:50

Just because the teen/20-something me might be able to reminisce about some fun nights out that were enhanced by drugs, doesn’t mean the much-older-me would be encouraging my children to be using drugs. But I would accept there’s every chance they might try drugs at some point and would want them to be fully informed about it.

Cocaine, no, it makes you so boring and arrogant and unfun. And my DC are still children so obviously shouldn't be taking drugs. But when they're adults and can make informed choices they might want to have those experiences and I hope if they do then they're good ones. I hope by then society has a more humane and sensible approach to recreational drug use. It would be a shame for the current situation to continue.
Facelikearustytractor · 28/09/2020 21:58

Teens do die of alcohol poisoning too though....but I do see your point. People posting on here have done it and obviously feeling good is part of the appeal - I don't think anyone is pushing others to try it and I don't think a thread on MN will convince someone to.

Emeraldshamrock · 28/09/2020 22:04

Humans have enjoy recreational drugs since they were first discover they're not going to stop anytime soon.

Emeraldshamrock · 28/09/2020 22:04

*enjoyed

switswoo81 · 28/09/2020 22:05

@Idontbelieveit12 her parents came to our school to talk to us. It was heartbreaking and definitely influenced me at a pivotal age.

Haven't rtft so probably mentioned but For me now I very interested in the cartels in South America especially Mexico after a visit there and the absolute horror and heartbreak they cause and I couldn't be a part of that chain.

SeaWitchly · 28/09/2020 22:20

I think I was really lucky as when I took E I never had come downs... but knew friends who did. That said they used drugs more often and in higher quantities than I did.
I never took more than 2 E a night... one on the way to the club and another in the club. Never had a bad experience with it, it was pure joy and fun. And so much cheaper than buying alcohol. We used to go to The Fridge, Pascha and Strawberry Moon when we wanted some 80s music. This was late 90s, early 2000s in London. Oh and the festivals too of course - Reading and Isle of Wight mainly. Happy days 😊

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/09/2020 22:28

If legal, I would prefer my DC to take E rather than alcohol. It's much safer. It's also safer than the "party bags" of prescription drugs that are being sold to here. More people in NI have died taking Lyrica than E.Sad

SeaWitchly · 28/09/2020 22:35

Oh and Fabric too of course.!

KenDodd · 28/09/2020 22:38

Better still, if the ecstasy was produced by a proper company that paid tax and was subject to public health inspections in the same way alcohol producers are. I can't believe that would be more dangerous than alcohol especially if you include all the collateral damage of alcohol induced violence.

KenDodd · 28/09/2020 22:41

I never did either. Lots of people I know didn't, well apart from the effects caused by lack of sleep from being up all night.

LetsBeSensible · 28/09/2020 22:43

A good few years ago my mate in the midlands found a club open late that was just really good music, good crowd, couldn’t wait to take us for a night out. It was lovely, everyone was pulled off their face! Bless her she knew nothing about drugs. She now has a grudging respect for E as she’s seen how happy and nice people are on it (she thought all drugs = trainspotting).
I was lucky when younger got good education about being safe if taking drugs, not afraid to go to parents if anything went wrong and same for my friends (one did on one occasion).
Am not sure that back then the stuff we took was imported, think it was made here. Colombian marching powder was not as ubiquitous. But no there are no ethical drugs.
These days I feel guilty for using a tampon not a mooncup, no wonder we like to reminisce about the time before responsibility 🙂

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/09/2020 22:45

Absolutely @KenDodd. Prohibition doesnt work. All it does is spread misery and cost the tax payer.

BringMeTea · 28/09/2020 22:49

oakleaffy you're on fire. I LOVE(D) Peep Show. I'm putting on Radio 4.

BatShite · 28/09/2020 22:50

I have never really thought of what I will tell my kids actually. In a way, I think I would rather they take the odd E than drink the way teens do these days. It will be better for them. This is an interesting thought experiment for me (oldest is 7, so a while off!). I suspect cannabis will be very accepted when they are older, though thats something I never really liked, just made me hungry, tired or ill! I ca imagine the horror on some faces with me saying that about E, but..the amount of damage alcohol does, the amount of fights it cases and stuff..I really do consider it to be much safer, and something I would feel happier that my kids were doing, then getting pissed mortal and falling out of clubs.

HomeSliceKnowsBest · 28/09/2020 22:51

I miss speed. And being thin.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 28/09/2020 22:54

I absolutely loved taking drugs E’s, Coke, weed

But I am ashamed that I was part of the misery that the drug trade brings to so many from the gangs here to the workers of cocaine farms in Columbia

Mikeymoo12 · 28/09/2020 23:01

a young boy has just died in the area i live in from taking illicit substances (He was under 18). They are illegal for a reason. Perhaps one of the most disgusting posts I have read on here and fully prepared to be told I'm boring etc And really don't care 🙄

MrDarcysMa · 28/09/2020 23:13

YANBU.... much prefer a bit of MDMA to getting drunk. And I never got comedowns. Some of my best memories! It's been a while though!
