Quite fancied a pair of the tiny ankle uggs this winter, my 17 year old sister tells me they are so 2012!!😂
Opinions?
YABU : NAY, UGGS ARE AWFUL
YANBU: YAY, I LOVE MY UGGS AND THEY NEVER GO OUT OF FASHION

Ugly as sin but so warm and so comfortable that I really do not care; if I had the funds for a pair I'd get some and I will probably buy some cheapy cheap knock offs for slippers this year.

Umbridge34 · 28/09/2020 12:28

The joy of uggs is how easy they are to just pull on and go. All my boots require me sitting down to lace or zip them up (large wide feet, thick ankles... boots are a mission sometimes with me).
I'm considering a leather pair for this winter.

ShitUsername · 28/09/2020 12:33

Nay to the boots but would consider a pair of Ugg slippers as they look v comfy!

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 28/09/2020 13:01

Ugg boots are very good for grip on icy or snowy ground so not really slippers eh?

Kittykatmacbill · 28/09/2020 13:38

I am on my fourth pair of ugg boots as slippers, I have never worn them out of the house but given that we live in a cold Victorian house in a cold part of the world I they are quite practical.

TankGirl97 · 28/09/2020 13:44

I think they are very dated - if you care about that kind of thing! I have a pair I bought in 2005 (brown, ankle boots) which I still pull out for cold, dry winter days at home. They're lovely and fluffy but totally impractical here in the countryside. I guess that's why they've lasted 15 years 😆

amusedbush · 28/09/2020 13:57

I have a pair of ridiculous, fluffy, leopard print Ugg slippers and I love them Grin

The boots are incredibly dated though. I'm 30 and wouldn't wear them now, but I did have a few pairs (including the short ones) when I was 21/22.

MustStopSnacking28 · 28/09/2020 14:03

I do actually think they are hideous even though I own them but they are the comfiest shoes I have ever worn!!! I have had mine for 10 years and they honestly still look in decent condition, worn as a uni student in the snow and all sorts. I don’t think I will win any prizes for fashion in them but my god they are like clouds on my feet Grin

My late Mum was 80 and lived in a pair of my old Uggs over winter. She walked miles daily with her dog and was always scared of slipping. She reckoned there was nothing warmer or 'grippier' for her. She loved them.
aintnothinbutagstring · 28/09/2020 16:00

Not for me, but if people find them warm and cosy then go for it I say. I still see some mums wearing them down the school, not really seen many young young people wearing them so I guess they've had their day fashion wise.

Elai1978 · 28/09/2020 16:42

They have the nickname “slag wellies” which I guess is enough to put you off. Nice warm slippers for house use though.

Zenithbear · 28/09/2020 16:46

I have an old pair of UGGs still in fab condition that I put on after swimming in winter. No faffing with putting socks on damp feet. That's all I wear them for now.

Not really. Hmm Puts me off people who call them 'slag wellies', though.
4cats2kids · 28/09/2020 17:20

Uggs are so warm and comfy, who cares if they are fashionable!

Biancadelrioisback · 28/09/2020 17:24

Ugly as hell but my god they are warm and comfortable!

ClementineWoolysocks · 28/09/2020 17:26

They remind of the little boots my gran used to wear, so it's a nay from me.

AdobeWanKenobi · 28/09/2020 17:29

Me too. How fucking vile and judgemental some women can be towards others. Slag wellies, Chavy etc

I really cant bring myself to care what another person wears on their feet.

Another thing to add to my list: 'How to spot a misogynist'.
Elai1978 · 28/09/2020 18:13

Just to be clear, I don’t refer to them as such but they certainly carry that delightful nickname.

XiCi · 28/09/2020 18:17

A cafe in London did it as an attention seeking thing. It didn't go as they hoped.
ComeOnBabyPopMyBubble · 28/09/2020 18:18

Pros: ridiculously warm and comfortable.
Cons: other people don't like them.

So yeah,I have two pairs one classic style one biker boots type that I wear all winter long. Love them.

That was the first occurrence that came to mind, I’ve seen the term used elsewhere though as well.

WiserOwl · 28/09/2020 18:20

Awful but i get that they are cosy.
I never like them.

They really don't.
