Quite fancied a pair of the tiny ankle uggs this winter, my 17 year old sister tells me they are so 2012!!😂
Opinions?

I like mine. They're so warm and comfortable. I'm not a size 0, nor do they make me look ugly. Not quite sure how a shoe could make someone look ugly, anyway.

Ifonlyicouldliveinmypjs · 27/09/2020 22:17

I adore mine - the genuine ones don’t collapse and last for years. I’m not going to argue that they are the best looking footwear but to be honest, I couldn’t care less. They look ok with a pair of skinny jeans and my feet stay so, so, so toasty!!!

copperoliver · 27/09/2020 22:18

I love mine I buy a few pairs every year. Sometimes you just have to have what you like not what everyone else likes. X

Oldbagface · 27/09/2020 22:19

Oh and the lovely assistant told me never to wear socks with them. Something about moulding

JustAddCoffee91 · 27/09/2020 22:19

Im not a fan of the bendy looking uggs but I do like the slippers and these... they are really expensive but really nice and they look like you could wear them when it's raining... I would anyway I love a chunky boot

Evileyecherry · 27/09/2020 22:20

Don’t do it. They are the most unflattering footwear there is. And I’d say more 2004 than 2012?!

DeRigueurMortis · 27/09/2020 22:24

Nay because they are not very flattering.

Yay because they are insanely warm and comfy.

I decided I didn't give a shit about the former and wear mine not with pride just an I don't give shit attitude.

titnomatani · 27/09/2020 22:28

Ugly as hell but the ONLY boots in the world that keep my feet warm. That alone is enough for me. I don't care what others think of them or me for wearing them.

Nochangeplease · 27/09/2020 22:29

I didn’t realise people thought they were so bad. Eneryone I know has a pair. They’re so warm and comfortable and I actually don’t think they look that bad.

1Morewineplease · 27/09/2020 22:29

My real beef about them is the number of school run mums who wear them, all wonky and mis-shapen, with Primark loungewear and fluffy hoodies.
It just looks like you really couldn't be bothered with anything at all.

Once went to view a uni , with my daughter, and parents and prospective students were paired with a current student. Our group had a student who schlepped in her Uggs with lounge trousers and fluffy hoody.
Oh how awful the tour was. She looked like she couldn't have been bothered and acted like she'd rather be trimming her corns.

The uni was left off my daughter's list ( by her own admission.)

MuffinHead · 27/09/2020 22:30

YABU, your sister is correct. they really are awful, but when I had a pair (probably 2012Grin) I remember they were sooo comfy Hmm

Nyclair · 27/09/2020 22:32

I wear mine religiously in the winter. Mine are mid-calf boots. So warm and comfortable

Mrsemcgregor · 27/09/2020 22:34

Do we need to be bothered to look nice for the school run? For who’s benefit?

Uggs are warm and comfy and legitimate ones last years and are excellent value. Not great for wet days but absolute heaven for crisp frosty mornings. If you care about comfort then wear them, if you care more about other people’s opinions on how you look don’t. I am definitely the former Grin

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 27/09/2020 22:38

SBTLove those vegan uggs are all made from synthetic materials, ie petroleum based plastic type.
Shedding microplastics all over the place, and destined for landfill.
Why you think that's better than a sustainable use of a biodegradeable by-product beats me.

littlecatfeet · 27/09/2020 22:47

@SBTLove

I’m always disappointed in these threads that nobody seems to care about the cruelty factor, wood you wear a real fur coat? probably not yet you’ll wear a dead animal on your feet.
Sheepskin is a by-product of the meat trade, like all leather goods. This is such a daft sentimental argument.
AdobeWanKenobi · 27/09/2020 22:53

I loved my biker Uggs. Best none Ugg brand I ever found were Jumbuck but can't seem to get those anymore.
Recently discovered the Sketchers Keepsakes which are insanely comfortable, just not real sheepskin.

Someone always posts the flattened heel pics on these threads. And yes, you pay a fiver from Primark that's what you'll get. Same with most things in life, the more you pay the better quality.
As for 'chavvy' anyone who judges a person based on their footwear really does have issues.

FortniteBoysMum · 27/09/2020 22:54

Was never a fan but my brother got me a pair for Christmas 3 years ago. Omg the most comfy things I have ever put in my feet.

Bubblemonkey · 27/09/2020 22:54

Unless I’ve got my foot up your arse, what I wear on my feet is nobody else’s business. I can’t wait to dig mine back out 😁

It’s a Tad hypocritical saying they’re cruel to animals when I suspect people also eat animal products & own animal product clothing/shoes.

Wordofwarning · 27/09/2020 22:58

Love line - have two pairs (knee high) they are quick school run and house/garden/bins etc now BUT one pair was purchased in 2004 and the other in 2008. My complaint after 15 years is that the tread is awful now but they’ve lasted the longest of any shoes/boots I’ve ever had. DH updated me last year to just sheepskin slippers still live all three......

Get the minis - in better financial circumstances I’d buy them! Also agree with no socks - mine don’t smell at all and I used to wear them in the snow smoking for years Wink

Zoflorabore · 27/09/2020 23:00

I’ve had real ones, River Island version and many a pair of Primark version and they are actually atrocious when I look back. I’ve got big size 8 feet ( bordering 9 I think ) and also fat legs and they make you walk funny, even worse when raining.

They are comfy though. The River Island £30 version were by far the best and I miss them sometimes but then remember how bad they looked. Primark sell them every single winter though and they do sell out.

I won’t be buying them again.

thesecangettofuck · 27/09/2020 23:03

They're slippers. You don't wear them out the house.

AdobeWanKenobi · 27/09/2020 23:14

@thesecangettofuck

They're slippers. You don't wear them out the house.
And yet there they were on the feet of Air force pilots in the war, surfers on beaches in the 80s etc

Clearly nobody told them they were wearing slippers the fools 😂

Bubbletrouble43 · 27/09/2020 23:21

Yanbu
I love mine! I have mid length ones and am also eyeing up the ankle length ones for my upcoming birthday.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 27/09/2020 23:24

Only if you were hoping to look like a shire horse.

Whatisforthebest · 27/09/2020 23:28

Love my Uggs, 2 genuine pairs that I've had for years, both waterproof. I've replaced the insoles of 1 pair but put the old insoles through the wash and they came up like new. They are adequately supportive, not too flat and keep my always freezing feet toasty.

I also have a 2 pairs of Costco copycats, they are equally toasty and comfortable but aren't waterproof so not great in the depths on winter but make excellent baffies.

I couldn't give a toss if they are fashionable, I always got for comfort over style.
