I love my uggs. Very warm & comfy, they’ve never folded over like the cheap ones do.
It never even crossed my mind that people might hate them and honestly I don’t really care if they do.
My feet, my shoes, my choice.
although I’ve never really cared what’s fashionable and what not

BlackLetterDay · 27/09/2020 21:13

I haven't seen uggs for years, thought they had been and gone? Wear what you like!

It's been hideous furry flip flops round here for ages. Wtf was that all about Confused

cravingthelook · 27/09/2020 21:15

I'd say no... but only because I hate having hot feet

IncyWincyGrownUp · 27/09/2020 21:15

Wear what you want. I bought a cheap pair in the clearance shop to wear in school as slippers. I don’t think I’d wear them outside, but they’ll do for the purpose they were bought.

HowFastIsTooFast · 27/09/2020 21:20

Depends on your taste, and whether your talking real ones or knock-off versions. I bought a pair of mid-length real ones in 2008 (in the US when it was $2 to the £1, happy times!) and wore them winter in and winter out for years, including in deep snow on ski trips. I still have kicking around somewhere for very cold and short trips out. The soles look like new, no wear at all, and so far as I know the real ones have a proper footbed in them, I never had any problems anyway.

ASFAIK It's largely the copy high street versions that wear down ridiculously and knacker your ankles.

sassafras123 · 27/09/2020 21:20

Do you really know how these are made? Suggest you do some research

JalapenoDave · 27/09/2020 21:21

I bloody love UGG boots and will love them till the day I die. A definite yay from me!

Purglewurgle · 27/09/2020 21:24

I have a pair of £300 Celtic Sheepskin boots and I can’t wear them in public. They’re so ugly.

Or should I say ugg-ly Grin

JalapenoDave · 27/09/2020 21:25

@Purglewurgle send them to me! I'll wear them for you Grin

ktp100 · 27/09/2020 21:27

Comfiest things ever but yes, had their day.

I'll be really happy if they do come back around, though!

Happytobeme123 · 27/09/2020 21:29

I sold mine about 5 years ago. Size 8 feet so not a good look.

You probably know this, but if you do get some, they shouldn't be worn with socks.

Enjoy your cosy feet!

hammeringinmyhead · 27/09/2020 21:29

Deckers, who make what used to be called "Ugg Australia" boots, do not support mulesing. Don't believe everything PETA tells you.

I have a pair of Celtic and Co sheepskin boots, 5 years old and in great condition, but I think this year I'll clean the soles and only wear them as indoor slippers.

ChelseeDagger · 27/09/2020 21:34

I love mine, especially the pink sequin ones, although they are soon to be usurped by my new silver juicy couture moon boots.

I shan't be explaining myself to anybody who considers themeselves 'tasteful' either Grin

ChinChinPassMeTheGin · 27/09/2020 21:38

I love mine!! Best things ever!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 27/09/2020 21:38

My mum gave me some she had bought but didn’t like about ten years ago, and I wore them as slippers until they fell apart. I then bought the Costco version after asking on here, which were about £30.

We live in an old granite property which is cold, so they are just perfect on chilly feet. I do have proper slip on slippers for going to the shower and so on, but the “Uggs” are great for going out to get the cat or with the bins. I would pop to the corner shop in them if I was desperate, but tgat would be it.

midnightstar66 · 27/09/2020 21:40

I have raynauds- a circulatory disorder which means my extremities get very cold indeed. I could not survive a Scottish winter without uggs!

justanotherneighinparadise · 27/09/2020 21:41

I have UGG black sheep-wool lined ankle boots but they’re not the classic style. I’ll see if I can take a photo. I was actually coveting some long suede heeled boots on their website but they’re out of my budget.

I’m not sure why everyone seems convinced UGG only do one style of shoe and that’s the long chestnut flat sheepskin boot that was fashionable a decade ago. They do a wide variety of shoes and boots. It’s the equivalent of thinking that Burberry only makes a checked scarf Confused

Ugg boots yay or nay?
midnightstar66 · 27/09/2020 21:42

Also the collapsing/walking on side of feet thing are from the cheap Primark nylon version- this does not happen with genuine sheepskin uggs

aToadOnTheWhole · 27/09/2020 22:02

@user1471565182

You can get some actually decent looking and functional winter boots for much cheaper than those. My mate says only people who think having a bouncer as a boyfriend is desirable wear uggs.
Ha! My DH is a bouncer, I've just ordered my latest pair of UGGs. Your mate may be onto something Grin
BeigeFoodLover · 27/09/2020 22:05

I have waterproof ankle ones - they are the best thing ever for standing on the side of a football pitch for 6 times a week. They aren’t attractive, they aren’t ‘cool’ but I learnt very quickly I’d rather be warm and dry than cool.

LoveEatYoga · 27/09/2020 22:05

I have an off brand but v good quality pair of sheepskin boots from TK Maxx that I wear in the house and garden as house shoes / slippers basically but I rarely wear them out.

A couple of times I have worn them to the corner shop but I'm trying not to get too comfortable wearing them out and about as I do think they're scruffy.

Oldbagface · 27/09/2020 22:08

Bought mine from Harvey Nic's in 2012. Very knowledgeable assistant. Told me they will not collapse like snides do. Mine are still in excellent condition and super warm.

LoveEatYoga · 27/09/2020 22:09

I agree the really cheap ones such as Primark are awful. I got some once and they feel like cardboard compared to the ones I got from TK Maxx (Cloud 9 brand). They were about £30-40 and are good quality.

ShoppingBasket · 27/09/2020 22:09

I have ugg flat ankle boots with the lining. These are ok in rain and give support and so snuggly

Bluewavescrashing · 27/09/2020 22:10

I have 2 leather pairs. So cosy.
