@AnnaMagnani

YANBU but this thread will soon be full of people saying that every charm they have on their bracelet is memorable and meaningful.

It always looks to me like a scheme for extracting money out of men who have no idea what to buy as a present. Oh it's Christmas, another charm on the bracelet, job done.

Surely if thats the case have a go at the whole jewellery and beauty industry.
SengaMac · 27/09/2020 13:28

I had to google to find out what Pandora bracelets are.
Then wondered if OP is CEO of the company and hoping to attract sales from MNers who googled. Grin
Didn't work with me, anyway, soz.

SpecialWGM · 27/09/2020 13:29

I love my Pandora (I have 3 and all the charms are special (chav 101 to all the snooty MNers)). However I think 'bougie' type stuff like LV, Chanel etc can look like utter tat if it splashed with the name all over.

Greysparkles · 27/09/2020 13:31

@DollyDoneMore

Not sure why you've just put a link to a charm up?
That's not really an explanation now is it?

I wouldn't get that charm myself as I'm not a Disney fan, but I know many who would
None I would describe as "tacky"

Snipples · 27/09/2020 13:32

@SBTLove agreed!

I know who I'd rather have a drink with. A nice chavvy alcopop obvs!

goldrabbit22 · 27/09/2020 13:33

Everyone has different taste but I've also always thought they were quite ugly.

Going out on a limb here but I suspect you might be the only one who had to Google what a Pandora bracelet is Grin

Maybe they are a UK only thing and you live elsewhere

Kanaloa · 27/09/2020 13:35

I don’t like jewellery very much so wouldn’t wear them. I don’t have any issue with them but I was surprised at how expensive they are, you can get much cheaper charm bracelets that are also nice. Plenty of people like them though, and they look nice.

pastandpresent · 27/09/2020 13:37

I love bracelets but I don't have Pandora one. It's a bit too chunky for my liking. But I think it looks pretty on other people.

spongedog · 27/09/2020 13:39

I love bracelets - they are my go to accessory. But not Pandora - I dont get the attraction all. But I do get the attraction to Pandora shares - I wonder if they are a publicly listed company.? Because that is a great business idea - a future cash flow stream for each bracelet. Genius!

SBTLove · 27/09/2020 13:39

@Snipples
In the hot tub, jingling our Pandora bracelets 🤣

Tonightstheteriyakichicken · 27/09/2020 13:40

Years' ago, unaware of Pandora being a thing, I saw and liked a Pandora necklace with say, half a dozen charms, and duly received one for Christmas. If my peers think it's naff or whatever, they're too polite to comment. Any more than I would laugh at a 40th birthday tattoo or at someone dropping £200 on a cosmetics Advent calendar. Because you know, we're adults.

Lemonsyellow · 27/09/2020 13:45

Are they actually popular? I’m in my mid-50s with young adult and teen daughters and I don’t know anyone who has one or has ever had one. I only know about them because there’s a poster advertising them at the bus stop. I saw a shop at a railway station the other day and looked in the window. It was deserted.

flowery · 27/09/2020 13:49

”i have not admitted outloud that i do not want one myself...”

Why would it be something to “admit”? Confused

”i would rather have a necklace, that is my guilty secret.”

Why guilty?

The language you are using about not liking a piece of jewellery is really odd. Unless you have one and have been pretending to like it or something?

LoveEatYoga · 27/09/2020 13:50

I think they're okay but the fact that so many people have them turns me off.

Not sure why a thread about that is necessary though. It's fine if other people like them and you don't. You must realise that.

ilikebooksandplants · 27/09/2020 13:51

I’m a bit of a snob actually but I think they’re fun! Life is a bit too short to get het up about a silly bracelet, they’re not compulsory you know.

I have a charm bracelet from pandora and a rose gold bangle (no charms). I wear the bangle more than the charm bracelet. I wouldn’t describe the charms as particularly ‘special’ but they do all make me smile when I think of where they come from/who bought them.

They’re just fun, aren’t they? This thread has inspired me to get mine out and jingle away!

evilharpy · 27/09/2020 13:51

Not my taste, but I don't wear any chunky jewellery or anything "themed", I like very plain simple pieces. I do have a few pairs of Pandora earrings though and a ring.

MIL has a bracelet so rammed full of charms that it no longer bends. It would look nicer with a few charms removed.

TankGirl97 · 27/09/2020 13:55

I had to Google it too I'm afraid. Not my bag but if I wear jewelry at all it's very simple. Looks like something I'd have hankered after as a teen.
Each to their own though, I know my taste is quite dull!

Treacletoots · 27/09/2020 13:55

They're all hideous. I used to work for the UKs largest Pandora seller and if you only knew what they cost to produce compared to what you pay for them you'd be physically sick. They exploit people in Thailand and similar poor Asian countries, and even produced a rose range that's so poor quality they're not allowed to call it rose gold.

As others have said, the main customer target was men, who had no ideas or couldn't be arsed to think what to get for their OHs birthday, Christmas etc.

Each to their own, but personally I think it's a completely hideous rip off

Honeybeexo · 27/09/2020 14:07

I prefer traditional charm bracelets where the charms clip on and dangle down.

Historydweeb · 27/09/2020 14:22

Hugely overpriced mainstream shite worn by people who don't seem to have much originality about them. (Sorry)
I do judge, silently, but judge them all the same.

Blibbyblobby · 27/09/2020 14:24

@GoldfishParade

The charm bracelets I think are quite a sad commercialisation of something that's meant to be a but free spirited - you find charms, you collect them, maybe of different sizes from different places, made of different metals, like a patchwork quilt pieced together from a mash up of memories.

With pandora you just browse online and click "buy".

Yes, that's why I don't like them much. They make me feel weirdly sad. It's like a person's own reaction to an important life event is less important than Pandora's branded version.
MrsToothyBitch · 27/09/2020 14:24

They're not my thing but other people like them, and that's fine! One of my best friends has one and still wears it a lot. It's very her, I wouldn't choose it but she probably wouldn't wear my Links of London one.

That said, there's a Pandora shop in my local shopping centre and I did see a silver, charm free bangle I quite liked in there the other day. I do love bracelets, I've stopped wearing all of mine due to Covid and I miss them!

Snipples · 27/09/2020 14:31

@SBTLove I'll meet you there hun, just parking up the white Range Rover 😂

Alwaysinpain · 27/09/2020 14:33

I like them but they're just not secure enough in my opinion. Everyone I know who wears one, has lost theirs (and not just on nights out), even when wearing that safety catch thingy.
