their ineptitude during covid19 costing many thousands of lives... their corruption privatisation of health service appointing cronies in top jobs at bbc defunding of education health transport over past decade their living parallel lives with private education, private health, private travel, multiple homes.... their arrogance and lack of decency is heartbreaking breathtaking and they have 80 seat majority with many years before general election....

@Babdoc, do you honestly believe that being a Christian and a doctor makes you somehow faultless? Countless priests and nuns also claim to be Christian whilst raping and abusing children. The pope and his gang are Christians who sit on piles of money and tell women they have no right over their own bodies and should have baby after baby born to die due to starvation and disease. Hitler was a Christian. Harold Shipman was a doctor. Crippen was a doctor. Anyone calling themselves a good Christian whilst giving daily thanks for the Tory party is extremely contradictory.

I think the majority of the Tories want Boris out he’s a liability now. But he was elected to get Brexit done, not deal with a pandemic

I think Johnson was only elected leader so he could take the blame for the fallout from Brexit, and then someone else can take over. His function is essentially that of a useful idiot.

I just hope that the bespectacled scrotum, aka Gove, isn't the next leader.

Thank fuck we aren't all judged according to the views of our siblings,

My DB was a racist football hooligan in his youth and DP's brother is an anti-semite.

@Roosterbooster99 err the tories have been in power for majority of the period from 1945 to the present date, they ve been in for the last ten years.
So plenty of opportunity for us to have a world class healthcare and a social care system if they had so wished, the Cons have taken no notice of Labour on any of their flagship policies but apparently its the oppositions fault the NHS remains unreformed????

The Tories opposed the formation of the NHS and have sought to run it down ever since, which is why its in such dire straits now.

Their aim is to have a privatised system along the lines of the USA.

nibdedibble · 28/09/2020 16:36

I’m sad about how this country is seen to no longer be decent; but then, it was all a veneer, it’s never been decent.

Corbin was/is an arse but not all recent Labour leaders have been. It was imperfect and went badly towards the end but I miss the hopefulness of early Blair/Brown and I think they’d have handled coronavirus with integrity. Come to that so would Major, he’s orders of magnitude less cunty than these pretend Tories we have now.

PhilCornwall1 · 28/09/2020 16:43

Heartbroken? That's way over the top.

it's never been any different, regardless of who has been in government.

We did hit a new low with Johnson, but to be honest, is anyone surprised at what he is like. If they are, they shouldn't be. When he got in, I could help but think of this.....

That should say couldn't help

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 28/09/2020 16:45

I mean, what did you expect?

PhilCornwall1 · 28/09/2020 16:46

Blair and integrity are two words I never thought I'd see in the same sentence.

No he wouldn't - people have forgotten what he did in the cold winter of 1986, but I haven't. That cold hearted bastard who never did any u-turns Thatcher had to tell him to u-turn on it - that's what he was like. He didn't get to be boss of the Tories without being a mean nasty cunt.

Yeah, it’s hard to remember that initially he seemed to have some. Some. But I do think he’d have managed coronavirus as well as he could. Unlike these...whatever they are. Thick, greedy relics.

I didn’t say he wasn’t a cunt (he is a Tory) but rather that the current crop are far, far worse. I do think he’d have been able to manage coronavirus better but partly that’s because he had better people around him and better government structures in place.
Roosterbooster99 · 28/09/2020 16:56

Yes, but it’s been Labour blocking reforms that’s caused much of issues in recent years. They deliberately disseminate mid-information like yelling about the ‘NHS being sold off’ making it too toxic to touch.

*No it’s not. If anything the want a European style free at point of access health service which mix private and public providers. Because they have far, far better outcomes than the NHS and are much more cost effective.

There’s quite a bit of research evidence that EU migrants (who haven’t been socialised to see the NHS as a monolith above reproach) don’t want to be treated here because the NHS is rubbish compared to EU systems. They go home for treatment if they can because the care is mediocre and the system slow.

StoneofDestiny · 28/09/2020 17:36

Sir Kier Starmer KCB QC, a true man of the people!

Well, he was the son of a nurse and a toolmaker who passed the 11 plus to get to grammar school (the school went private while he was already there), get his degree at Leeds Uni, then took further qualifications elsewhere to work his way from lawyer to QC etc etc I think that is a brilliant progression built on his own hard work and intelligence, not the result of money and privilege smoothing the path!

Yorkshirelass04 · 28/09/2020 17:40

I think a lot of people who voted Tory and Brexit are absolutely delusional and it is going to take the country annihilated for them to cop on. Bring it on.

I have always voted to support people less fortunate than me and I just don't see the point in caring anymore.

Can you post some links to this research evidence please?

Nope. They'll go to their graves convinced they were right.

amieejust · 28/09/2020 17:46

Heartbroken?? Disappointed and frustrated, yes, but heartbroken is a bit OTT.

Not sure if Labour or any of the others would have been any better in dealing with it either.

BatShite · 28/09/2020 17:46

YANBU, however I really doubt anyone else would have done any better. Depressing, that I have no faith anyone in the country could do any better than the current shower of shit.

Yorkshirelass04 · 28/09/2020 17:49

@serendipityjane Some might. Some might realise there's no food and no housing and no jobs and the EU subsidies might just have helped them. E.g. Grimsby.

Either way I literally don't give a fuck anymore. It's not my job to convince people worse off than me not to make stupid political choices that will serve to harm them.

StoneofDestiny · 28/09/2020 17:55

Imagine having a PM whose brother was leading the Covid deniers

That old chestnut! Corbin isn’t PM nor is his brother.
However Johnson is and us a proven racist - or have you forgotten already about ‘watermelon smiles’, ‘pickaninny’ or woman as ‘letterboxes’ - not to mention the anti Scottish poem he allowed to be published in The Spectator - using language of The Holocaust. (but that seems to have missed those who think anti semite language doesn’t exist in Tories - well it does in this Prime Minister!

SerendipityJane · 28/09/2020 17:56

However Johnson is and was a proven racist

you left off: liar and cheat.

fuffit · 28/09/2020 18:00

How ridiculous (disingenuous more like) to pretend that other people are as fed up with their government as we are with ours.
We've seen the surveys on how much people trust their governments over Covid. The UK government is seen as untrustworthy by more than half - I get that figure from August, so when things were much better in the UK than they are now:

Our country has done a good job with COVID: UK - 46%, US - 47%, Germany - 88%, Denmark - 95%.
