their ineptitude during covid19 costing many thousands of lives... their corruption privatisation of health service appointing cronies in top jobs at bbc defunding of education health transport over past decade their living parallel lives with private education, private health, private travel, multiple homes.... their arrogance and lack of decency is heartbreaking breathtaking and they have 80 seat majority with many years before general election....

Those who voted Tory got what they asked for - an incompetent proven shagaholic liar, who only had one thing to say at the election 'get Brexit done' and refused to be questioned on anything else as he has no knowledge politically of anything else, and even less skills to do anything else.
True to form, he and his ministers are still refusing to be questioned on TV on anything!
A group of cronies refusing to be held accountable for their behaviour - Bullingdon Club rules.

I'm not heartbroken, I'm furious

This ^^^

CayrolBaaaskin · 28/09/2020 09:18

I don’t mean this in a bad way but spelling and punctuation is a good thing and would make it easier to follow your post. Although I still think YABU to be “heartbroken”.

missyB1 · 28/09/2020 09:18

I think OP is heartbroken at the the horrific mess we are in - mostly due to a shockingly selfish and immoral Government.

Heartbroken? FFS! Angry

doctorhamster · 28/09/2020 09:44

I wouldn't say I'm heartbroken. I'm very angry.

As an aside, why are Tory voters so completely incapable of admitting that they may have made a mistake? There's just no way of defending this Government but still they persist.

awaynboilyurheid · 28/09/2020 09:45

It’s like no one questions all the stupid decisions They just lurch from one bad idea to the next! Is there no one in the Tories who says wait a minute, if we send students back into halls the rate of CV will go up! If we close pubs at 10 everyone’s leaving /mixing at the same time etc etc etc Not one of them seems to have a clue!
Maybe one day we could actually have a Doctor as health secretary, a teacher who has stood in front of a class as Education minister and not philosophy graduates etc running depts they have zero idea about, like the barely human Michael Gove et al

Babdoc · 28/09/2020 09:48

OP, I give thanks daily for our current government. Because if you remember, the alternative at the last election was Corbyn’s antisemitic misogynist shit show of a Labour Party, who are still supporting self ID to allow male rapists into women’s prisons. And do you seriously think Diane Abbot and pals are more financially competent than Rishi Sunak?!

SoupDragon · 28/09/2020 09:48

To be fair, I think, historically, there has been a lack of that kind of person in a labour government too.

Hingeandbracket · 28/09/2020 09:51

Ha hahahahahahaha

It’s the virus that’s to blame. I’m no Conservative but you can see they are damned if they do and damed if they don’t.

Sertchgi123 · 28/09/2020 10:25

I’d bet Labour breathe a sigh of relief every day that they aren’t in government.

contrmary · 28/09/2020 10:28

The virus isn't the Tories' fault. Whatever choices they make will be wrong - either more people will die, or the economy will be fucked more. It's a great time to be in opposition - most of the public will fall for the lies and deceit spun by Sir Kier Starmer KCB QC, a true man of the people!

cosmicdoughnut · 28/09/2020 10:43

Labour were and would be just as bad. All politicians are self-serving creeps.

Ohtherewearethen · 28/09/2020 10:55

It says something when the government are such monumental fuck ups that the only defense their voters can come up with is, yeah well Labour would have been worse. It's such an unintelligent comment to make and it makes me cringe every time I read/hear it.
As for giving daily thanks for the government - I honestly don't know what to say to that. Tory voters are so bloody minded that they will never admit that what they have done has had disastrous consequences for hundreds of thousands of people and that Boris and his group of arrogant, incompetent racist, homophobic, lying, misogynistic bastard chums care about nothing but feathering their own nests. How any Tory voter can be proud is utterly beyond me.

I’m no Tory but I can see the difficulties faced by this government. Tell us, what should they be doing?
SoupDragon · 28/09/2020 11:03

I'm not a Tory voter and I don't think Labour would have made a better job of this.

awaynboilyurheid · 28/09/2020 11:08

Perhaps oh I don't know here's an idea, looking at every option and consider them for starters??? if we do x could it cause Y instead oh top ho brilliant idea!! then oh shit when it all goes wrong!
I really did feel for the govt at the beginning, who has any blueprint in handling a pandemic? but the mess they keep making is just too obvious they are out of their depth and mishandling things very badly. Boris is too incompetent for the role the "loveable" buffoon act could only take him so far.

awaynboilyurheid · 28/09/2020 11:13

I'm no SNP voter but Nicola Sturgeon has handled the crisis so much better, daily briefings to tell us what is happening and why. Mistakes were made at the beginning and they owned up to them . She has been measured and calm I don't believe in Independence at all and could not vote for her party but she has done her very best to keep us informed of why difficult decisions are being taken in a momentously difficult situation. Not changing on a whim and saying one thing quickly followed by the very opposite.

fuschia2000 · 28/09/2020 11:37

thanks so so much for all of your thoughts inputs replies- really great to read....

i am heartbroken, because this is our country, our taxes, my children's and grandchildren's future, and to see such incompetence arrogance and corruption is devastating - i don't know how Labour or lib dems or greens would have fared but I can see what these Tory folks are doing and it ain't pretty. Lets look at New Zealand, Australia germany, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan to name a few to see how we could have responded better... without needing to trade insults across the house! Or across the sexes(!) as there have been some great articles noting how female leaders have responded much better, resulting in far fewer deaths and less damaged economies......

fuschia2000 · 28/09/2020 11:38

yes Ms Sturgeon's daily briefings and honesty are refreshing to behold xx

StoneofDestiny · 28/09/2020 12:05

OP, I give thanks daily for our current government

And there you have the heat of the problem - selfish delusion and lack of moral compass

Babdoc · 28/09/2020 13:36

StoneofDestiny, As a Christian and a retired doctor, I’m rather puzzled by your ignorant comments about my presumed lack of morals and level of delusion.
If you had bothered to read my post, you would see that my gratitude for our current government is predicated on the certainty that the Corbyn/Abbot Labour alternative would have been worse.
Perhaps you are happy with anti Semitism, fiscal incompetence, and self ID allowing male rapists into women’s prisons, but I am not.
