Takeaways

Following on from another thread..do people really leave other members of the household out when they buy takeaways?? There are six of us, but I would get lynched if I got a curry in without involving all of us (even though that can work out expensive!). Are takeaways an adults only treat, or should the whole family be involved??

YABU - it’s fine
YANBU - it’s not worth the risk of the row and / or it’s a bit rude to exclude

Ds only likes certain takeaways, he is asked and if he doesn't want we get it for us of he does he gets takeaway

Its all of us at my house. My mum and step dad used to have a takeaway after I'd gone to bed when i was younger and i was always so hurt and annoyed when i got up the next morning to see the empty wrappers

YABU for using the word "lynched."

Now and again we will order pizza for everyone but mostly we have takeaway when the three youngest are asleep. It's our treat to ourselves as mealtimes can be chaotic in our house. DS who is 11 usually gets something though as he stays up later than his siblings.

pincertoe · 26/09/2020 06:53

We would never not get us all one. When dcs were much younger, if I or DH were out we would bring pizza home for the one staying in to watch the kids but not include them as it was late. Now the kids are often awake after us so we would never get away with this.

Takeaway is a treat treat for the family. Mind, DH has been known to sneak off to McDonald's for lunch on his own.

I often treat myself to a takeaway once the kids are in bed if DH is out on an evening. But anybody who is at home and awake would always be included, and more often we do it as a family thing and all share dishes.

cushioncovers · 26/09/2020 07:04

It's always been all of us included. No one would dare walk In The house with a takeaway for just themselves without checking if anyone else wanted something.

I have 3 kids 13,15 and 17. We take it in turn to chose and we wouldn't leave anyone out.
One of the thoughtless things their dad does when they are with him is to get a takeaway for just him and his new partner. It might seem trivial but it's really hurt the kids feelings. I'm sure it's a money thing rather than a mean thing
