If you could only chose one for the rest of your lives which would it be? Pasta for me all day long 😋

Potatoes, I don’t like rice or pasta, I don’t like potatoes that much come to that

lughnasadh · 25/09/2020 04:36

Potatoes.

Mashed, roasted, fried, boiled, on shepherd's pie, in stew, to make potato cakes...

Jeremyironseverything · 25/09/2020 04:39

Shouldn't bread be in that list if carbs?

Bread, then potatoes.

Potatoes

There is vitamin C in potatoes especially just under the skin. I think people eat pasta because the cba to peel or scrub potatoes, I don't mind spaghetti occasionally but the spirals etc are such bland chewy things .....

Athrawes · 25/09/2020 04:58

Rice

eaglejulesk · 25/09/2020 05:01

Potatoes all the way! Love pasta, but not as much.

Pixxie7 · 25/09/2020 05:06

Definitely potatoes more versatile.

They have fibre and I think vit b too, so yes definitely the healthier option. Depending on the potato I usually keep the skin on mine for that reason.

potatoes all the way.

Potatoes. I don't really like rice that much and I don't eat a lot of pasta.

MaryBerrysChutney · 25/09/2020 08:01

Rice!! Rice pudding, Steamed rice, Fried Rice, Pilaf, Coconut rice... the possibilities are endless.

CatBatCat · 25/09/2020 08:03

Potatoes. Both rice and pasta are boring until you put something with it. Potatoes can be eaten on their own and they're much more versatile.

Monday55 · 25/09/2020 08:03

Potatoes! because they're my favourite and I think you can make more versatile dishes out of potatoes than rice and pasta.

I feel like there are enough other things I could substitute in for potatoes that I can scratch them off the list first. (Root vegetable mash on a cottage pie, for example)

I was about to say that pasta wins, because you can also count noodles as pasta so you don't lose out on eg Chinese food (and there are lots of breads you could have with eg Indian food). But now I think about it, I really like the taste of rice and it's very versatile and has a place in so many different cuisines that I think I'd miss it too much to give up. And the only thing I'm really missing out on if I give up pasta is some parts of Italian cuisine, which in any case also has pizza, amazing bread, and indeed risotto and other rice dishes. So, rice wins!

cambrianexplosion · 25/09/2020 08:09

Potatoes!!

Like someone else said, they are nice enough just on their own. They go with pretty much everything - tomato based dishes, veggies, salad, curries, meat, fish, dairy based stuff, cheese..

I like bread a lot. Especially real stuff, not the 49p stuff which is all I can afford.

I do like pasta and rice though.

contrmary · 25/09/2020 08:11

Potatoes because they can go with just about anything.

Pasta is only good for macaroni cheese or pasta bake.

Rice is basically a bunch of maggots on your plate.

AlwaysLatte · 25/09/2020 08:11

Potatoes!

WooMaWang · 25/09/2020 08:13

Rice here. We eat more rice than either of the others. There are lots of things you can do with rice.

Potatoes would be second choice, with pasta a dim and distant last.
