If you could only chose one for the rest of your lives which would it be? Pasta for me all day long 😋

Rice

Noshowlomo · 25/09/2020 08:52

Potatoes... roasted or mashed or a jacket or boiled or chips or fries or wedges. Lawd I’m hungry!

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 25/09/2020 08:52

I've tried those instant rice packs - hard pass. Especially the flavoured ones. DH likes them... but he also likes Pot Noodles & I've tolerated that for many years.

FredaFrogspawn · 25/09/2020 08:53

None of them. Whole lentils instead please!

TheKeatingFive · 25/09/2020 08:53

Bread!!!

However, under your arbitrary rules, probably pasta. I’d miss chips though.

SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness · 25/09/2020 08:54

@PlanDeRaccordement - gnocchi?

Whatthebloodyell · 25/09/2020 08:57

I probably eat pasta every other night, so definitely pasta. I eat rice a lot too, but I only
Really eat potatoes as part of a roast dinner or the occasional jacket potato.

RedCatBlueCat · 25/09/2020 09:01

Can I have "carbs starting with a P" as my choice please.
So, Pasta, potatoes and pain au chocolate? That should do me.

DH would say rice anytime.

Florencex · 25/09/2020 09:03

Definitely would not be rice. But I am really torn between pasta and potatoes.

GameSetMatch · 25/09/2020 09:03

Pasta

canigohomenow · 25/09/2020 09:04

Potatoes!

Someone once told me that you can get all your nutrients from buttery, cheesy mash and it's a notion I live by!

Cam77 · 25/09/2020 09:06

Pasta or rice, but then I eat a LOT of Chinese and other Asian style food. Id hate to choose between rice and pasta/noodles. Potatoes are delicious but don’t eat them that often.

cushioncovers · 25/09/2020 09:09

Potatoes every single time.

PlanDeRaccordement · 25/09/2020 09:11

@Cam77
If you choose rice, you can still have rice noodles :)

sashh · 25/09/2020 09:11

Chips and crisps are both potatoes on their own.

Don't forget chats. Bubble (without the squeak) gnocchi.

PlanDeRaccordement · 25/09/2020 09:13
@PlanDeRaccordement - gnocchi?
Gnocchi- aren’t they more of a dumpling than a noodle? I’ve had it once and it was these little balls fried in something.

cakewench · 25/09/2020 09:13

Rice. Steamed properly, none of this 'boil rice then drain' Hmm method that seems far too common here.

PlanDeRaccordement · 25/09/2020 09:15

@SisyphusAndTheRockOfUntidiness
I agree wholeheartedly on the instant rice packs. They are disgusting.

Flaunch · 25/09/2020 09:16

Rice!

markzuckerbergsgreytshirt · 25/09/2020 09:20

Potatoes. You have to ask? Wink

Ploughingthrough · 25/09/2020 09:21

Rice. But I live in Asia and have a taste for the flavoured carb of my host country!

Plussizejumpsuit · 25/09/2020 09:22

I'd fight you for all of them I love carbs. But if I had to choose I'd say potatoes. As they are more versatile. Also I eat quite a lot of gnocchi and polenta so feel I could cheat a bit and use those for Italian dishes. I'd miss rice in East Asian food though. But could manage with bread and potato in India food.

Imloosingmyshit · 25/09/2020 09:23

Roasties. Home made. Not that aunt Bessie rubbish.

DizzyPigeon · 25/09/2020 09:29

Potatoes

Although I would miss the others, potatoes are so versatile, and I'm OK with cauliflower as an alternative to rice.

The people making other suggestions are just wrong. Op has not limited those things, so you can have them AS WELL.

Iwantcreamcakesformydinner · 25/09/2020 09:32

Potatoes. More versatile and more nutritious
