My daughter has just popped to Tesco for a couple of bits and pieces. She’s just sent me a photo of the pasta aisle. The shelves are bare!!
Surely, we’re not having to go through that again. Not being being able to buy a packet of pasta or toilet roll because some people are filling their garages to the rafters with the stuff.
Seriously, there’s no need!!

I know right. I could cry.

SomewhereEast · 24/09/2020 20:38

Some people really are halfwits.

PinkiOcelot · 24/09/2020 20:39

Aren’t they!! They caused bloody havoc the last time.

BikeRunSki · 24/09/2020 20:41

I hear that Morrison’s are rationing things again

Derekhello · 24/09/2020 20:46

Same where I am. No toilet roll or pasta apparently. We can’t go through that again 😔

SomewhereEast · 24/09/2020 20:46

Honestly, if the UK didn't run out of essentials in March, when we were abruptly plunged into hard lockdown and 90% of the population were in full "OMG We're all going to die!" panic mode, then we're not going to now are we??? Gotta love a nation which fills its homes with 'Keep calm & carry on' tat and then panic buys bog roll because the pubs are closing early.

StoneofDestiny · 24/09/2020 20:47

Some people probably still have their stockpile from last time. Selfish people who don't give a stuff about others.

BrutusMcDogface · 24/09/2020 20:48

😭😭😭

I have seen empty bog roll aisles in two supermarkets this week.

Fallsballs · 24/09/2020 20:49

There’s going be a massive landfill of pasta next year. Twats.

SimonJT · 24/09/2020 20:50

Some people are incredibly dense.

So very funny, but also very true.
OrangeGinLemonFanta · 24/09/2020 20:51

I wish I'd gone out and bought some pasta, its my toddler's favourite food and we're down to our last half bag Shock

Tanfastic · 24/09/2020 20:51

I went to three supermarkets on Saturday to get bog standard lasagne sheets. It is seriously shit.

TheMandalorian · 24/09/2020 20:53

Oh no! My supermarket has only just gotten back to a decent stock of flour and yeast.

Laiste · 24/09/2020 20:57

Oh God really?

sigh

See, what are we to do, when we hear that something we use/eat regularly as a cheap staple is in low supply? We'll buy a bag when we're next out. A bag more than we might have done this month. And that's all it takes it seems, to tip the balance into low stock.

How many of us are really noble enough to think no, i wont buy that 'just in case' bag tomorrow, i'll hold my head up high and go without pasta when the shops run out?

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 24/09/2020 20:57

Ocado seem to be OK for pasta, I added a pack of 55p penne to Saturdays delivery. Just one, it will get eaten within 10 days not stockpiled!

OverTheRainbow88 · 24/09/2020 20:59

I feel the same about these threads... they just cause more panic so please do stop

00100001 · 24/09/2020 21:00

There was some one in my local FB page had bought 4 trolleys full of nappies. Yes. 4 entire large trolleys filled to the brim with nappies.

The supermarket let them, so who's to blame? 🤷‍♀️

PurpleDaisies · 24/09/2020 21:00

All the supermarkets around here are absolutely the same as normal.

I agree that this sort of thread fuels panic.

rosegoldwatcher · 24/09/2020 21:00

Feeling very pleased to have a half sack of bread flour and a big tin of dried yeast (acquired during the last shortages.)

Bread making capabilities = all fine in my book.

sapnupuas · 24/09/2020 21:01

My local Tesco had a "reduced to clear" on loo roll at the weekend so I grabbed some.

I'm torn between thinking I'm part of the problem (though I only bought one packet) and being glad I got there before the selfish twats.

00100001 · 24/09/2020 21:02

Plus, you'd think there wass stockpiling of pasta going on in the big supermarket... but actually it's just that the students have all moved in to the local uni halls and accomodation this last week. Shelves are empty!

If you end up struggling to get it let me know & I'll happily send you some - we got plenty in the food parcels but I can't stand pasta!
Coriandersucks · 24/09/2020 21:02

Yup same here - I was walking around asda earlier and I just thought they hadn’t got a delivery or something when I couldn’t get tea, sugar or frozen veg, then I got to the toilet roll aisle and it dawned on me.

Humans are so fucking stupid we deserve everything we get.

Laiste · 24/09/2020 21:04

THIS is the time when the supermarkets should keep an eye out for panic buying and not allow it. BEFORE stocks run dry. But they wont will they, because like last time they'll just be ((£££)) in their eyeballs while all the tins, loo roll and pasta fly off their shelves.
