to think that karma won yesterday

This will no doubt out me if you know me but never mind.

We live in one of a pair of farm cottages down a small lane on the way to another village.
Our lovely neighbours shared their ring doorbell footage with me yesterday as we were the targets of the theft. We'd had a large, awkward, cumbersome package delivery which was (as instructed) left in the side yard and was visible from the lane. Two men, older and not that fit, came passed in a car and stopped to look at the package and with great difficultly manhandled it into the back of the car, having to shove the seats down and go to some effort putting it in.

If only we had access to cctv at the other end to see their faces when they opened their spoils to discover that they had approx 40kg of hay Grin

Annoying for us of course but they got what they deserved I reckon.

I hope the footage picked up the car reg. their faces really would be a picture when they opened the door to the police.

VeraPink · 23/09/2020 08:24

Ha! The fuckers. I hope they were galled.

Falcone · 23/09/2020 08:26

haha! Serves them right!!! I hope you got the reg number OP and report them

Mammatino · 23/09/2020 08:27

Ooh the cheeky arseholes!! I wish it had been manure or Bees. I know you obviously aren't daft but be really careful about other deliveries. I don't know why I'm still gobsmacked by that kind of behaviour.

VeraPink · 23/09/2020 08:28

We have a key coded shed for other deliveries @mammatino but don't bother with the hay. @Falcone yep, reg number has been supplied to the police.

Fuckers.

My XH had a fit in the street and someone stole a bag of shopping.

It contained about a pound of squid.

Time to get a ring door bell

redlockscelt · 23/09/2020 08:30

@Weenurse

Time to get a ring door bell
Our lovely neighbours have one, we shared the cost (now I really have outed myself) as it covers both our cottages.

Love it!

Bagadverts · 23/09/2020 08:35

If they put that much effort in to proper work we’d all be much better off. How much does 40kg of hay cost?

letsdolunch321 · 23/09/2020 08:36

Karma done its thing 👍🏻

ShebaShimmyShake · 23/09/2020 08:38

I know of someone whose bag was snatched from her by a jogger as she walked her dogs. Shame it had nothing in it but full dog poo baggies, which she was planning to dispose of in the dedicated dog mess bin at the entrance to the park...

MoistMolly · 23/09/2020 08:39

No such thing as karma

awesomeaircraft · 23/09/2020 08:39

Fantastic!

Also love: I wish it had been manure or Bees.

Mildmanneredmum · 23/09/2020 08:44

Classic from my youth. We had a nun who used to cycle everywhere visiting the sick at home, and someone nicked the bottle of whisky out of her basket after her visit to one of the elderly residents. Trouble was, it was full of wee she was taking to the GP for him. Same colour.....

Mumsnut · 23/09/2020 08:44

H’mmm

I have an old tv to dispose of

If I find an imposing box and some labels
And leave it under my doormat , will someone nick it so you think,

StatisticallyChallenged · 23/09/2020 08:52

We had similar once. A few years ago I had a bike accident - the seat post turned out to be mis-sized and a tiny bit too narrow so once you were riding it collapsed and I ended up breaking a couple of bones. Looked fine though when first fitted. This is relevant.

We kept our bikes outside the house, chained up. Our bikes were the same brand, with the same seat post requirements. We normally took the saddles off but after the accident we hasn't bothered with mine as it was a heap of shite Grin. So one night some little scrote nicked DH's bike - taking the seat from mine to enable them to ride it away.

It amused us no end to know they would probably have made it a few hundred yards before it collapsed and threw them on the road.

x2boys · 23/09/2020 09:03

I wonder what they thought they were nicking? How much is 40 kg of hay btw?

No idea but they might need a covid test because it was fairly fresh hay and would have had that sweet smell.

🤣definitely shame it's wasn't manure though!

I hope the police still follow it up, even though it's minimal £ value.

Let us know...

I really like this idea! Maybe if we all make a habit of leaving our broken stuff in Amazon delivery boxes on our doorsteps we could stamp out thievery of deliveries.
shesgonebatshitagain · 23/09/2020 09:11

And to think they thought they were making hay while the sun was shining
