To strongly dislike Nicola Sturgeon right now?

Here to rant that Nicola has gone one step further and banned meeting in homes. She always feels the need to one-up Bojo, and hasn’t even given the rule of 6 she introduced last week a chance to see if it’s working.
Interested to know what the English think - do you think she’s taken it too far, or Bojo hasn’t taken it far enough?!

Seems like such a disparity that in England you can meet with 6 other households indoors and here none 🤯😡🤬😭😭

She would not lockdown Glasgow like she did Aberdeen because all her support is from there!!

Glasgow should have been lockdown the same way as Aberdeen was three weeks ago.

Now we all have to put up with her bloody rules!!

I can go to the pub to meet my family, but they can’t come to my house!! That will be wright!!

Don’t think a lot of people will take a blind bit of notice!!

Loobyloo71 · 22/09/2020 20:09

@lyralalala

I mean, it’s really not, there’s a lot of us up here who dislike her leadership and her party’s governing (covid-19 aside). Nothing to do with whether she is a woman or not.

There is a lot of misogyny directed toward her though.

She gets shit for things much, much more than Mark Drakeford does.

The difference being that Mark isn’t / hasn’t been pushing an independence agenda on top of all of this.

Can't stand te woman -never have and never will
It's all about one upmanship against Boris and his Government

fluffyugg · 22/09/2020 20:10

@willselfdestructin10seconds
Wow...not heard that one before Hmm

Yawn, yawn, yawn.

RepeatSwan · 22/09/2020 20:10

@lughnasadh

Her rules make much more sense.

She does seem to haver her country's best interests at heart.

I can't get my head around Boris and his 'invite five randomers in as often as you like, that'll definitely help'. Confused

Agree with this.

I think you're lucky to be under sturgeon's rules. The rules around children meeting in particular are very human.

Johnson is out of his depth. I feel like sturgeon works non stop.

lyralalala · 22/09/2020 20:11

I think she's been far less political in this whole thing than a lot of other parties (the Scottish Tories especially)

She say "Today is Tuesday" without being accused of it somehow being a political statement.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 22/09/2020 20:11

@flashbac

So much misogyny...
Why do you say that? As I said previously Arlene Foster and Merkel are very impressive.

#ThankyouNicola is a childish prat with all her jibes and whines aimed at Westminster

LagunaBubbles · 22/09/2020 20:12

Thankfully not that many as the SNP are going to sweep the board in May.

Sally872 · 22/09/2020 20:12

No household visits gives some hope we can avoid proper lockdown.

People forget to social distance in homes and don't clean surfaces between each visitor like restaurants.

I cant see how rule of 6 from any household makes sense.

slashlover · 22/09/2020 20:12

We call her Wee Jimmy Krankie in our house

Hilarious. Hmm

zigaziga · 22/09/2020 20:14

Honestly I think stopping every single person in Scotland from inviting even one person into their own home with no end in sight is despicable.
It’s also risky because it will make many, many people criminals and then where does that leave the law? Policing through consent etc?

Mistlewoeandwhine · 22/09/2020 20:15

I really admire her. She’s a strong female leader and the Scots are lucky to have her.

updownroundandround · 22/09/2020 20:15

Bojo hasn't taken it far enough imo.

Srictlybakeoff · 22/09/2020 20:17

There is always so much anti Nicola sentiment on here- that’s not my experience irl living in Scotland.
She works hard, she cares about what happens , and listens to advice. Boris only cares about money - and he and is cronies are earning millions through this ( Dido Harding and track ad trace for example)

When Aberdeen was locked down there were sporadic outbreaks and the increase in cases was shown to have come from hospitality. It’s much more widespread now and in Glasgow was shown to have come from household transmission. We are in an exponential stage at the moment so reacting appropriately is important. She has said that if she could afford to furlough workers she would have closed all hospitality.

Boris hasn’t done enough . I am so glad to have someone in charge who does what is right rather than what is popular

Hhahahahaa you said it right " she does seem to haver " Grin
IKEA888 · 22/09/2020 20:18

I feel proud tonight to have her as my leader.
Boris will be following her lead within weeks .
Boris hasn't gone far enough.
it's not a great hardship to have no indoor visitors .

She hasn't stopped every single person in Scotland from inviting people to their home.

People who need care can invite carers in. Grandparents/people who provide childcare can still do so. Single people can bubble with another person or family and socialise in either home. Non cohabiting couples can go into each others homes.

Just as well that's not what's happening then, eh?

Kinneddar · 22/09/2020 20:19

It’s not been that bad up here really and yet we’ve always had it stricter

Which is exactly why its not been so bad its not a coincidence 🙄

TheNewLook · 22/09/2020 20:20

England says pubs to shut at 10pm, Sturgeon announces pubs in Scotland to close at 9.55pm

I know this is a joke but it is very apt. Constant one-upmanship. Scotland is part of the UK and Boris is her PM but she cannot stand the fact and makes all her own announcements as if what the UK PM says doesn’t apply to Scotland.

jasjas1973 · 22/09/2020 20:21

Sturgeon takes advice (among others) from Devi Sridhar, one of the worlds leading experts on Public Health.

Its not done in some sort of competition with Johnson, who takes advice from Cummings, one of the worlds leading experts in manipulation.

Johnson will be introducing far tighter restrictions v soon.

Cherrycee · 22/09/2020 20:22

I think she's doing a great job. It's England that's out of step.

fluffyugg · 22/09/2020 20:22

@TheNewLook I for one am glad she does make her own announcements as she is so much clearer and to the point she also doesn't sound like she's blaming the public for a rise in cases.

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 22/09/2020 20:22

Health is a devolved matter, so in actual fact, most of what the PM says doesn't actually apply to Scotland.

SallySeven · 22/09/2020 20:23

I'm no fan but imo she's right.
